Eyyy, congrats to those who made it! It honestly just a good experiance to actually build a m&m character so if anything, thanks for that opportunity Watcher!

Be looking forward to seeing what comic book hi-jinks you guys get up too.

(Still want that Golem & Imaginator sitcom damn it)

Database Bio:
Name Tremor (II) AKA Donald "Donny" Khros

Occupation Part timer at Rocket Records, Amateur Bass Player

Personality: Donny is the type of guy who feels he’s constantly got something to prove. A fun loving soul, he has an irrepressible sense of adventure, willing to throw himself into the situation without thinking with a smirk and snarky one liner. He definitely wants to do good by people, and would never knowling try cause a bystander harm. He can be a little stand offish and cagey at first, but when the situation calls for it, he has grouping up with other heros… if any wanted to group up with a young, undisciplined hero using the moniker of one of the most minor super villains in the history of freedom city. As a result of his rebellious nature and his inherited reputation, he tends to be distrustful of the ‘proper’ authorities, in no small way thanks to their failure to catch his late fathers killer.

Complications (if theres too many i can trim em down!):

Motivation: Justice. Being from southside, Donny's lives been surrounded by crime. His dad was a criminal and he was killed by a criminal. Someone's gotta take a stand.

Not so secret identity?: Mother Tiffany Khros knows and is highly supportive of her son’s super heroic exploits and is currently the only person (that donny knows anyway) thats clued in. Still, paranoia about anyone suspecting him through his mom has led him to be cautious about being seen in public with her.

Enemy/Obsession: Diamond Head’s the primary reason for Tremor’s rise to herodom. A callous, cowardly and megalomaniacal thief, he has yet to make any contact with the new Tremor. Still, Donny seems focused on one day settling the score with the crystalline crook.

Reputation: Whether mockery or dangerous or last minute hero, Tremor Sr was a thug and a thief. The police don’t trust him, other heroes might even laugh behind his back, but either way, the moniker Donny wears is far from stainless, leading to a fair about of resentment and a desire to prove himself on his part.

Responsibility: Three major ones. Donny was raised in Southside, and while not experiencing and awful childhood, it was far from easy. Narry a day would go by without some rumour of a person being mugged or theft. Now a full fledged hero, he’s determined to clean up southside, one petty crime at a time.

He is employed Part Time by Rocket Records. Mostly this is just to add extra funds to the house and save up to attend college, but Tremor duties can sometimes clash with his hours.

The last but certain not least is his Band; Gravel Pit, rising stars in the underground music scene in southside. Francis Long (Vocals, lead lyricist), Kurt Bloch (Guitar) and Cliff Smith (Drums) were struck with inspiration when they discovered Donny's proficiency with the Bass. When not playing street fighter and practising, there have been fears of splitting up, with Francis wanting to take a degree in liberal arts, Kurt being urged back to his home country of Sweden and Don's best friend Cliff being pressured by his dad, a city planner, to pursue an actual career. All the same, Donny has tried his hardest to balance time between.

Temper: Cops. Well, authority in general, but mostly cops. This is mostly due to their inability to find DH but the fact is his confidence in them was never high to begin with.
Rivalry: So, what do you do when you’re late to supers game? Clean up after someone else. While respectful of the Next Gen member, Sonic, it’s hard to reconcile the fact a sophomore gets more respect than he does. Whether the respect is mutual or not, Tremor see’s Sonic as a friendly rival and in some ways a mentor in this whole hero game (a thought his pride would never let him say outloud). Still, when they meet up, you better believe there will be a loud game of whack a crook. First to 10 wins.

edited back story:
They called him loser, petty thief, remembered only for the whiskey on his breath and how many times the hero of the week threw him and his buddies in the slammer. You probably called him Tremor, some people called him Jacob, mom said he was a good guy but the only thing I know about him?

Well, lets just I save plenty of money on fathers day.

So, who’s this Southside jerk off narrating to himself? That’d be me, Tremor. Yeah, not Tremor boy or Jr or Tremor 2, A Bogus Journey. Real name’s Donny Khros but for the love of god, do NOT call me Donald… only my mom calls me that.

Anyway, you wanna know why I skip around in my dad’s hand me downs and do the whole hero shtick? No? Well hell, you’re being told anyway. See, I’m not just my dads kid by name alone, my blood is jacked with all that mutated, freaky hero goodness. Means I can do things. Things like make the ground beneath you shake till you drop on your ass. Things like tell where you are cus you're too damn clumsy and flat footed. Means I can definitively tell you that the bass line to your favourite song probably blows chunks.

Heres the load down on the story so far. My mom kinda freaked when I went all earthshaker at a high school show couple of years back. The band loved it but can’t say it didn’t scare the s!&% outta me. So mom gets all expository and tells me my dad used to be a crook… admittedly a bumbling one but a crook all the same.

See my dad, Jacob Milstien, he wasn’t there. Prolly cus he and my mom, while close, weren't really a couple. She was only the nurse that patched the idiot up when some hero came along to clean his clock. After years of following a guy called Diamond Head, they were given the chance to make themselves something more than losers.
I was nine when the whole terminus invasion happened and my dad, well, i guess he wanted a world his nine year old could still live a happy life. So he went out and fought. Poor dad though, thinking his buddy wouldn't throw him to the damn dogs to save his own hide. Turns out the invaders didn’t get to him, but a shard of pure, blue diamond sticking through his back.

So, after hearing about all that, I decide to make something of myself. You still see plenty of crime over Southside and, hell, i just wanna clean it up a bit for mom. Not gonna be around forever, might as well put pops namesake to some use, eh? Means i’m kinda no ones best friend right now, but screw em, I didn’t become a hero to make buddies or learn life lessons, getting that bastard Diamond head would be the best, but thats not it either.

Bottom line: I just wanna do whats right.

There we go! All consolidated and edited! Had a lot of fun making this guy. Whatever the outcome, best of luck to everyone!

Same here, but thats more of a knock on of never playing M&M before.

Tremor's forte is mostly range combat in terms of pitched fight. Some of his powers may lend him to some battlefield control with his burrowing to get around fast, his splintering wave to create small obstructions and in a pinch that massive (albeit uncontrolled) earth shaker wave.

Outside of that, his role in the team is that of the hot headed, but well meaning rebel. He's not exactly abrasive but is certainly individualist and would probably see the team as a chance to prove he's not his fathers son, no more no less. He's still a little disturbed from the fact he knows exactly who murdered his father and that the guy is probably out there ready to do it again, meaning that any communication with authorities will be very strained on his behalf. This even extends to who may ever be the eventual leader especially if they're a big picture sorta person because Tremor, at his heart, just wants to make the city safer and is very community driven. Cosmic threats mean less to him then the everyday safety of people walking the streets and should the team start ignoring mundane threats in lew of the super baddies, it will certainly alienate Tremor.

He grew up in the poorer side of Southside and in doing so knows how such rough areas work and can offer a streetwise expertise when on patrol there.

As for experience in pbp, not a whole lot in terms of actual table top stuff. Only started a little while ago. When I was fourteen i was involved with similar threads, but they were a lot more abstract. (oh god, lets not look for them, pls god xD) I started tabletop gaming around fourteen with D&D and havn't really stopped since then. I suppose that would be... 7 years experience?

tl;dr: Tremor is a big piss baby who needs a daddy and some ofter stuff too.

Golem and Imaginator in: Two and Half a Dozen Men!

Freedom cities favourite sitcom returns for another season!

(Well i'd watch it)

Sorry about vanishing for bit! Visiting some friends out of town. I've sorted out my stats (hopefully) so those should appear later today along with background and stuff. For now though.

Ground facts:
Name Tremor (II) AKA Donald "Donny" Khros
Age 19
Height 6’ 1"
Hair Color Brownish Red
Eyes Green
Occupation Part timer at Rocket Records, Amateur Bass Player
Affiliations N/A
Power Source Mutant
Power Level Delta Metahuman
Threat Level Blue

Important NPC's:
Tiffany Khros (The Devoted Mother): A gentle, neat, loving soul, no one would assume Tiffany would have anything to do with a thug like Tremor 1, or his rough and tumble son for that manner. All the same, Nurse Khros has been a incredibly devoted single mother and while she can be a little overbearing, Donny would be hard pressed to find a more loyal supporter.

Gravel Pit (The Band) have been rising stars in the underground music scene in southside.

Diamond Head (The Murderer), no other name fires up Donny's blood more. His fathers former partner, his ever growing megalomania lead him to murder the original Tremor went he tried to protect a family caught in the crossfire of one his most ambitious scheme. Diamond Head has gone from petty thief to heartless criminal, revelling in the pain of those not powerful enough to protect themselves. His body made completely of mutated, alien crystal, allowing him amazing durability and the ability to form weapons from his own body.

Complications:
Secret Identity Known to Mother
Overwhelming hatred of Diamond Head
Reputation: Whether mockery or dangerous or last minute, Tremor Sr was a thug and a thief. Sins of the father and all that.

And a hero machine design thingy for good measure

Eeyyyyy, finally sticking my nose here. I'll have tremors stuff done ASAP!

Time Line would do me just find! Can't say they're not a little bit intimidating, but also very useful! Still might need help designing Tremor but i'll prolly take a lot of inspiration from the stats of Avalance in the third paragraph.

Weeeeeell:

Diamondhead (Egotistical Foreman, Carl Sanchez) and Cement Man (Long Suffering Flunky, Pete Hudson): The two remaining members of what was once the 'Terra Trio'. Over the years these two have been headaches for a great number of freedom city heroes, even time to time becoming legitimate threats.

Along with the original Tremor, all three were once disgruntled construction workers, before coming across and alien mineral that gave then earth based abilities. Diamondhead's body composition was changed to that of living diamond, while Cement Man was changed to a pool of living wet cement.

While Cement man is still out for his big score, Diamondhead has grown ever more desperate for the world to his power and has become a rather unstable and erratic individual. After hearing rumours of a new Tremor, the two of them are determined to wipe the floor with this imposter of their long lost friend... okay, they may have left that friend for dead but still.

In that case then, i'll stick to my guns and make Tremor college age!

Looking into it, probably not. Kinda had Tremor in mind to be about college age so it would have passed him by... still, in his life events write up i did have his powers fully emerge at 15-16ish.

Hmmm... so rethinking, would it be acceptable for him to be a very recent transfer to Claremont? I want to keep the whole him being an outsider thing and the fact he's going to a school of heroes when his father was a fairly minor villain kinda nicely compounds it i think.

S'all looking good on the portal so far! I like the power and threat level descriptor me doooo.

As a caveat, you know for a fact Tremor's probably 'auditioned' (read: Pestered) for a spot on the next gen before.

"Oh, hey you guys I was just in the neighbourhood and.... right, busy on patrol... that's why you totally blanked me there... stupid next gen. i'll MAKE MY OWN TEAM. WITH BLACK JACK AND" You get the idea.

I just realised i called my Faethor Luchion by mistake...

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPS

It's looking good to me!

NPC's can be easy to lose track of so i know would find it useful.

In terms of details, i think just enough to get a good grounded idea of situations in the world will suffice in my view.

Also congratulations sir! Hope it was as easy as possible for both of them. 8)

For my part i'm cooking up an Asmodeous War Priest. Defiantly going down the Lawful Evil 'unholy knight' kinda vibe.

I won't take any major assumptions as to what role he'd play in the kingdom, but at this point it's looking to be the High Priest, General or Marshal roles.

Taldor is probably one of my favourite nations in the inner sea, so you can defiantly count me among the interested!

Dotting this for sure!

Awww shucks! I just always like the idea of a hero who's dad was one of the disposable loveable loser type villains. Glad you like him so far! I'm still developing the skeleton of his back story at the moment so hopefully he can fit like a glove into the setting without much issue.

Speaking of which!

Very condensed back story!:
Life Events:

Pre adolescence: Conceived after a one night stand between hospital nurse Tiffany and ex-criminal (at this point)Tremor. The two are incredibly close friends for years, even before Jacob’s turn to petty crime. Once Tremor learns of Tiffany’s pregnancy he attempts for a few months to get back in the criminal game to set her and the kid up for life. His boss, Diamond Head, starts to go a little loony and makes a plan that might kill a whole slew of people. Never murdering anyone before Tremor makes a stand alongside -insert his nemesis’s name here- but is killed by Diamond head.

Born with no memory of his father other than hearing he was a ‘good man’, Donny has a relatively normal set of formative years, that is apart from his unexplainable constant migraines.

Has loving relationship with mother all throughout.

14 - 15: Having quite a turbulent time of middle school, he attempts to reinvent himself as a grungy skater type. Of Course this only leads to new kinds of ridicule. Picks up bass guitar at garage band thing advertised at school for a lark but finds he;s not only good, but astoundingly talented. (early onsets of his power emergence start here.)
16: Band (finally settling on a name: Powderkeg) finally gets a big break at school talent show. All is going well until a moment of distraction (maybe he sees a girl he likes in the crowd) causes a power spike in Donny, causing a low, but still earth shaking tremor. Donald in his heart knows it was him but authorities chalk it up as a freak earthquake and do not pursue an investigation. Tiffany comes clean about all aspects of Donny’s father.
18: College looms overhead, the band is still together and Donny over the last two years has been practising keeping his powers under wraps. He plans to either go to a local art college to study music or take a course in geology after having a sparked interest in the subject. currently works as hotel cleaner to earn a measly wage.
19: At somepoint (we can work on what occurence) an even happens that forces Donny to don his fathers own masked costume and save some peeps with his powers. Maybe earning himself a nemesis? We can work that out together me thinks.

Pfft, ya fool

Awww shucks! I just always like the idea of a hero who's dad was one of the disposable loveable loser type villains. Glad you like him so far! I'm still developing the skeleton of his back story at the moment so hopefully he can fit like a glove into the setting without much issue.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

From my limited understanding, I'm assuming M&M relies a bitt less on tactical combat and little more on rule of cool? I actaully managed to find the 2nd ed rules online and i'm reading through them so i come up with anything I'll let you know on that front.

Here's a bit of a preliminary profile for the guy i'd play in this game.

Profile:
Hero Name: Tremor (II)
Civilian Identity: Donald ‘Donny’ Khros (Currently Secret)
DoB: April 25th
Age: 19
Birthplace: Freedom City, America
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Gender: Male
Power Origin: Mutant
Parents: Jacob Milstien (Father, Former construction worker, Former Tremor and founding member of a group of petty crooks: the Terra Trio presumed deceased)
Tiffany Khros (Mother, Nurse)
Public Image: Distrusted and or mocked due to father’s criminal activities under the Tremor Alias.

Powers: Able to generate Seismic Waves that can cause tremors in the earth or fire kinetic blasts. Can also detect vibrations in the ground and focus waves into burrowing into the ground for a quick escape.

Personality: Donny is the type of guy who feels he’s constantly got something to prove. A fun loving soul, he has an irrepressible sense of adventure, willing to throw himself into the situation without thinking with a smirk and snarky one liner. He defiantly wants to do good by people, and would never knowingly try cause a bystander harm. He can be a little stand offish and cagey at first, but when the situation calls for it, he has grouping up with other heroes … if anyone wanted to group up with a young, undisciplined hero using the moniker of one of a convicted criminal. As a result of his rebellious nature and his inherited reputation, he tends to be distrustful of the ‘proper’ authorities and the feeling is defiantly mutual.

SWEEEEEEEEEEEET
IT'S (almost very nearly) MORPHIN' TIME

You'll forgive me if i have to violently shake with excitement as I write up a rough treatment for my guy. I've wanted to play in a supers game for the longest time.

I've actually wanted to play Mutants and Masterminds for the longest time! If you don't mind a newbie coming along for the ride i'd be more than interested in joining!

http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=132444

Put my two extra dices (both 4s) into my BAB and HP. Background to be adjusted and added!

Ooooh yeh, very interested in this game! Gotta Half-Orc Character i've wanted to use again for a while so remaking him for this should be a blast! Thinking something with Slayer, maybe Barbarian or Sklad. Kinda a thug for hire type, hedonistic sorta chap.

KEEP ROLLING, ROLLING, ROLLING!:

20d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 2, 6, 1, 5, 2, 2, 1, 4, 4, 6, 4, 6, 4, 4, 2, 2, 5, 4) = 73
7d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 5, 4, 2, 6, 1) = 20
4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 4, 1) = 12
2d6 ⇒ (4, 2) = 6
1d6 ⇒ 6

Thought thats what they did anyways? With the whole mosh pit thing?

@Scott: It's a medical condition. It inflicts the victim with the visage of a rejected Jim Henson puppet. My mother and father weep constantly to point of pass out.

Forgive me.

@Scott: Yeah, i can't really argue with that dude. I mean, i've been in plenty of parties without a source of healy magics and got totally wiped. Still fun though, which is why party balance to me, although very important as you say, is secondary to just playing cool dudes in fantasy. I'm not saying balance is wrong, not at all. I'm just saying it's never been a big factor in my thought process making a character.

@Kage: I'm sorry if i offended you. I didn't mean the post to 'oust' anyone. I saw you're post, didn't agree with it, and wrote response. I'm quite alright with you not agreeing, i just want you to know i didn't mean any ill will by it.

I'm kinda new to the whole forum roleplaying thing so i don't exactly have a clear idea on the social graces here. Obviously that was a bad move and apologize.

Kage Kaijitsu wrote:
You can't leadership or buy away the need for a healer or a trap disarmer if you need one. That's also rather lame. So why have any PCs at all? Just have someone with leadership replace the whole party? :-( So what, have a group of people who are all the same class type role ALL competing for the same leadership roles too? Come on...

You can't force people to take certain roles dude. If someone wants to play a barbarian instead of a rogue or a slayer instead of a cleric, that's fine because they'll be more infused about that character in the long run. I mean, you picked a ninja cus (and i suspect this is the reason anyhow, no offence meant if i'm wrong) ninjas are frikkin cool!

Like, i get being concerned about balance, but it's none of our calls who gets picked for this game anyway, so why worry? 8)

Background:
Yata was not hatched in Yan, his birth province is in fact a mystery even to himself. Garatsu, his mother, a venerated saint among his tribe, was an outcast for many years. Yata’s father was allegedly a tengu tribal elder in their home ghetto, but when he was murdered by a jealous rival, his mother and many of his followers were outcasted, forced out relative safety to die.

His mother, however, would not die so readily. A hardy tengu, she was canny enough to lead her tribe and her new offspring through many perilous situations with a mixture of stealth and diplomacy. It was from her that Yata learned much of his philosophy when leading and advising others.

At the age of 15, having spent years in the harsh wilderness, Yata was stargazing alone, as he often tended to do. The stars had always held a deep resonance for him. One night, from the black void a group of fireflies crashed to earth… or atleast thats what it look like at first. As it turned out, it was a small, midnight blue flying lizard that seemed overly interested in the young tengu. Yata took it as a sign.

He proposed to the tribe that he could lead them to a new civilised home. No more sleeping in caves, no more hunting, no more predators. With his newly acquired friend’s help, they finally arrived at the Yan province and while the local tengu tribes resisted at first, a few arranged marriages and peace offerings allowed Garatsu’s brood safety into the ghetto.

Now classed as an elder by his follows, it’s no secret to many that he is a skilled mediator of many of the petty differences that inflict the local tengu tribes and has done his part helped make the ghettos a slightly safer place for all. The Good Son of Garatsu has been rather proactive in serving his new home, providing aid to the homeless and injured in not just the ghetto, but the local churches. These services (as well as his shamanistic power) earned him enough of reputation to be summoned before the an official and be presented with the imperial charter.

“Now the spirits of heaven deliver a new message, eh Nib my old friend? A new home for my brood. Can’t possibly be a bad thing. No. I believe it’s the start of something extraordinary.”

appearance, personality and potential roles:
Appearance : Height: 4’4” Weight: 74ibls

Even compared to his fellows, Yata is quite the raggedy bird. Born smaller than most, he never seemed to quite grow into his feathers, often giving him the impression of beard around his beak and hunched figure. Still, his eyes exude a warm glow of camaraderie and one can often notice the arching of his beak resembling a human smile. Often nestled on his wide brimmed hat is Nib, his spirit animal and a rather high strung rhamphorhynchus with a veritable star chart for wings.

Personality To the Tengus of his tribe, Yata has been source for wisdom and kindness in a world that has so far been quite cruel to them. Amiable, generous (though a little grumpy from time to time) , Yata seeks others comfort before his own and would do just about anything for another person in distress.
While he views the Tengu of Linshen as his primary charges, he certainly is not nepotistic enough to refuse the pleas of help from any other people. This doesn't mean he’s forgiven the tien humans for their oppressive nature toward tengu kind, but if change is to happen he feels it should be positive and proven through deeds of cooperation and peace, rather than a futile and bloody rebellion. In his downtime, Yata enjoys stargazing and reading poetry over usually very cheap wine.

Potential Roles: Councillor, High Priest, Viceroy of a Tengu populated area of the kingdom.

Back story fluff to come later! if you need the sheet in a different format, just let me know.

I'd really like to join up if there's still space! My basic concept is an old (not yet venerable) Tengu shaman (primary heavens) whose spends most of time taking care of the young, the sick or old of his people, and even those outsiders not too proud to accept an old birds help.

His motives are to carve a home for himself and his people in this new frontier and to prove the noble and stalwart heart that lies hidden within every Tengu (yes he's a bit of a idealist).

I kinda suspect he'd take a Counciler or a High Priest role. Just gotta think of a fitting campaign trait.

Wrist Morpher is fine with me! Be cool to have some kinda of bracer or gauntlet design. Play up the fact were kinda ye olde rangers.

@Zword: The only toolbox we'll need is teamwork, healthy diet and a good dose of that morphinominal power known as friendship! 8D

...

But seriously man, I think we got a good thing going and i think the Oracle stuff is super neat. At the end of the day it's your choice, but don't feel obligated to change tact.

Dungeon Delvin' Pathfindin' Rangers, gotta go with the pure poetry of the originator guys. Or Power Rangers: MurderHobo Force

Also, Red, if i don't at least hear one instance of 'WE NEED DRAGONZORD POWER, NOW!' i think we can all agree the play test will be a failure. No pressure pal XD

And for home turf, Almas seems pretty fitting. Big city in the most freedom loving region of the inner sea (as far as i can remember), what could be better for our angel grove proxy?

Mmmmhmm. Golems are a pretty Rock Solid choice

Faethor Dondarrion, The Icy Winter Wolf Ranger and OLDER* twin of that uncouth oaf Luichon.

A Daring Champion Cavalier of the Order of the Flame (Ironic, i know) he's returning to his home town after completing his tenure as a squire for the order. Atleast spends 30 minutes of his morning routine on his hair, but is firmly on the side of justice. He loves his mama which is why he's coming home at all... to look after his douche of a brother.

I can get behind monster rangers! I can defiantly change my fire dude to a White Winter Wolf Ranger!

Working on a ranger cavalier with Opuk0. Pretty hyped for this.

I was just wondering about how were handling the more offensive based evolutions/suit powers, seeing as most of them refer to enhancing natural weapons like claws, fists and fangs.

The Magic Weapons evolution for example only makes mention of giving natural weapons the magic quality, which is kinda useless to power rangers unless we all go monk/brawler/unarmed figther or had natrual claw weapons so i was wondering if were ruling that it now extends to our martial beat sticks too?

@Amazing Red: didn't even think about that as an option, seems so obvious now 8p. I like it, but I think elements are also cool (Was kinda designing a Fire based guy, but I can swap it for ice or something else if the need arises)
