The Forgotten God Re-Recruitment #2 [High-Power, High-Challenge]

Recruitment

51 to 100 of 154 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | next > last >>

Due the class changes, I am going with the Deity Portfolio of Combat Prowess and Psionics since there is no official deity for Psionics at this time.

Wow.

Took me a while to get my head around this concept, but now I have a number of ideas floating around in my head;

Let's start with the probably impossible:

God of reincarnation- Warpriest/druid/monk gestalt, but would have to be Samsaran, which are forbidden :(

God of childhood and Imagination In the original thread, someone asked if they could combine the advanced and young templates, this inspired this idea: a perpetually young god of childhood and imagination. probably go with Paladin/Sorceror/not sure, but ought to be a word of power sorcerer/not sure to represent the imagination. I don't know if this is allowed.

Next, some favorites:

God of Archery Warpriest/Zen archer/Sorceror (Empyreal). Been wanting to do a Warpriest/Zen Archer Gestalt for a while, this seems a good enough way to do it. "Archery" seems a bit narrow a choice of portfolio as it pretty much locks him in to 1 or 2 weapons.

God of History, Keeper of the scrolls based on an idea for an NPC I once had, this one would have to be a Bard I think; beyond that I a not sure; probably wizard/swashbuckler (inspired blade).

God of Luck Swashbuckler/Bard (archaeologist)/Sorceror. Not sure how this one interacts with Desna; did Desna steal his portfolio at the beginning of time, or more likely was given it; is he setting out to reclaim it, thus weakening Desna at a possibly crucial time.

Finally, an interesting historical option:

Curchanus, God of Beasts, Endurance and travel Once Mentor of Desna, his death after being trapped by Lamashtu meant that she was able to strip beasts from him, driving a wedge between humans and animals. Before dying, he passed his portfolio of travel to Desna (this is a precis of what is written elsewhere).
But what became of the portfolio of endurance? What if it lived up to its name, and endured, being reborn as a new God? said God would want to recapture the Beast portfolio from Lamashtu, and Desna may return the portfolio of travel (though he...

Hmmm...

God of reincarnation would be Samsaran, so out.
God of childhood would be quite a wide portfolio (everyone who is mortal has a childhood), but too tricky to pull off.
God of Archery is something I would like to play crunch-wise, but there's no real fluff here.
God of history...well, he's a bit of a dry old stick.
Curchanus would be cool to play, I love the thought of him raising an army of awakened animals and sasquatches to act as followers and get revenge on Lamashtu, but he would have to be Chaotic neutral making him virtually impossible to work with the existing player. Might work if I drop the Barbarian class and make him a civilizer God (he no longer has the portfolio of travel), seeking to make a Narnia-like kingdom, but it doesn't quite fit.

That leaves a God of luck, or more particularly Good fortune; a minor godling who was eclipsed by the ascendance of cayden cailean. That's the one that fires my imagination the most, so I'll build on that.

The one that intrigues me the most would be God of Life and Death - Necromancer/Cleric(negative)/Warpriest

But i have to have fullcaster/martial/halfcaster which is kind of impossible for this concept

@Feral the concept seems ok, but not sure how you will handle the giant template. It makes you kind of monsterous and we spend a good amount of time in cities where this could be a problem.

@daemonprince not bad but you should be a full blown god. It feels like you may have been a minor one, but thats probably ok. Remember there is no one that remembers or still worships you. I get the feeling your are a patrion for the elven people whis is cool and think it could be good RP between you and Hadrana. He seeks to protect all and empower them to find there own Glory or valorous moments.

@Scubasteve backstory is just wrong for the game. You where not born. You awake with your power after a long slumber as it regathered after being taken away from you. As Rednal said the who is not important but the why is. My pasth is redemption as my fall was because my valor and glory had become wrath and bloodlust. He turned against his core beliefs and started to kill for the fun of it.

@All looking forward to your submissions.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

This is my first time doing one of these 10-minute background write ups. It's actually rather enjoyable.

Anyways my submission for a god of art, strategy, and desire/drive.

Arvenm the Artista, whose name I made from rearranging the name of Menrva(otherwise known as Minerva or Athena) is going to be a light hearted fellow that is interested at seeing and experiencing the wonders of the human form first hand. Well it would appear that he is more interested in that than obtaining his godhood back. Luckily for him, he has his trusted adviser to keep him in line, one who is very much adept at flaunting those same "wonders" around him, if only to keep him focused on the task at hand.

Background:
Step 1: Write five things about your character's concept and background
1. He is a god of desire, art, strategy, and above all conquest.
2. He had overstepped his boundaries and tried to make a harem of mortal women he found "engaging" much to the dismay of a certain goddess
3. His slim profile, loose clothing, and unkempt hair don't exactly scream discipline.
4. He has tendency to become focused on one thing to the point of blocking out everyone around him, especially when he is forming a strategy or creating his works of "art"
5. His mother is in fact, a mortal woman. She was murdered a few years after his birth

Step 2: List two goals for the character that you, as a player, think would be cool to see accomplished in-game

1. Discover his mother's killers true identity. He has leads but after being stripped of his dietyhood his resources are now more limited.

2. Create the perfect harem of talented and beautiful mortal women with whom to hopefully bear more half mortal children with so he can offend as many of the gods as possible and shake the very foundation of his pantheon.

Step 3: List two secrets about your character. One is a secret the character knows, one is a secret that involves him but that he is not actually aware of yet.
1. He actually was raised as a mortal until a few years after his mothers death.
2. His mothers killer is not whom he would think it is. He believes it to be the wife of his Father, Inyo, who though a schemer actually has a liking for the lad.

Step 4: Describe three people that are tied to the character through blood, romance, or honor. Two of them are friendly, one is hostile.
1. His half sister, Gandiva, whom is infatuated with him and is jealous of his antics with the mortals. He believes her to be instrumental in his "depowering" but she was actually tricked.
2. His faithful servant and lady-in-waiting Aspera, was a mortal whose soul he rescued from the being destroyed as some of the gods found her to be too compelling and clever. She is reincarnated as a playful oni that chides and nurtures our hero. With his depowering she has been denied access to her memories and a majority of her abilities as his follower.
3. His step mother Inyo has a nasty habit of constantly throwing obstacles in his way to prove his worth as a god. And even now as a mere mortal she will not prove any less vexing.

Step 5: Describe three memories that your character has. They don't have to be elaborate but they should provide some context and flavor.
1. As a child he would find various places to hide in the public bathing houses so that he could view the women there in the nude. Often he was caught whilst drawing their forms and studying their movements. If not for his talent and charming smile he would have been beaten to death several times. But even many a husband was impressed by his work, especially when given copies of his work to keep as their own. He believes the swaying of breast and hips to be comparable the grandest of mountain ranges and a marvel of motion akin to a humming bird in flight.
2. Way before he even know what a breast was and was more interested in nature, he sat off to explore the woods behind his home. After being too curious for his own good our hero ends up falling down a slope, crying pitifully from the pain of a twisted ankle. It was then a woman he had never seen before came to his rescue, and took him upon her back, carrying him to his home. The part he remembers the most is the swaying of her cleavage as he stared down at it from above, mesmerized by the woman's grace and beauty. (spoiler alert, this was actually Inyo)

3. His last memory before the start of the game, is taking part in a game of chance with a large group of unsavory characters while inebriated. Betting not only the shirt of his and Aspera's backs, but one of his prized works of art as well. This memory is very hazy though, but since he woke up to a fully clothed Aspera staring at him with her usual look of impatience it would seem that he had won....

Anyways as you can see, going for a whole black sheep vibe. Maybe mixed in with a bit Heracles. Got someone that who was never supposed to be, being potentially better at the old gods at what they do, a lot like Athena in a way. I'm not gonna take him too seriously unless I get picked, because I am not exactly sure where the story is going to go as far as direction and I love tailoring the actual character to better gel with the existing characters have. I could see him and Aspera being a comedic duo of sorts with Aspera being the "straight man" so to speak. Both of them helping as much as they get the group in trouble.

Edit: After reading the info on Hadran, thinking of my god being a sort of second coming of Hadran, which made him a threat to Rovagug. Rovagug knowing that he could not defeat the gods by force, used betrayal and trickery to not only disperse of Hadrans powers, but confine the young power of Arvenm as well. Now no knowledge or strategy could be used against him. He could continue corrupting the gods one by one. That is until fate brings them together....

Going to make him a onmyoji//warder//brawler and focus a bit on his sidekick Aspera to develop her as well. Onmyoji in itself is a really flavorful variant on the wizard class. Probably gonna refluff it so it's less folded paper focused but more art/talisman related. Like he draws his pictures for the day and those are what contain said spells. Going with the Dervish Defender warder because it has some good synergy with a wizard class, especially with the intelligence to armor class.

Finally gonna use the Wild Child brawler so I can get the animal companion progression and some other really cool abilities later on, the hunter tricks that is. Those are great because a lot of them are free actions so they wont interfere to much with my casting or maneuvers.

I tried to do the write up a bit as if from the perspective of a current pathfinder researcher or scholar who is trying to write a treatise on this forgotten god from the few scraps of information he has been able to find. This may have led to me underplaying his status a bit. He was certainly a a full blown god, but one of limited aspect since his focus was solely on the elven people. I do think there could be some interesting crossover as well as its kind of like two different visions of how to inspire others to greatness.

So, we have Flinnegan Chase, God of Good Fortune, luck and bravery. Originally a folk hero from the early days of the Taldane empire, he grew jealous when Cayden Cailean ascended and half his followers immediately began worshipping the upstart. In an attempt to prove that he was the real God of Bravery, he began to do crazier and crazier stunts until he crossed the line into foolhardiness and was captured by Zon-Kuthon after being betrayed. Zon-Kuthon planned to extract his Divinity for himself after prolonged torture; luckily, Flinnegan was able to expel his life force and Divine Essence into the darkness between worlds and end his life, from where he was reborn.

Zon-Kuthon believed that his attempt to steal his Divine Essence had failed and that he was dead in truth - another minor Godling with no endurance. Still, he had some of the artifacts which were sharp and pointy - exquisite for piercing lesser beings with.

For Flinnegan, on waking he has had some time to reflect on what he did wrong and realised that what he wanted above all was revenge on Zon-Kuthon and whoever betrayed him; with the Gods believing he was dead he had a perfect opportunity to strike unseen, but he would need allies, and luck. Lots of Luck. it's a good thing he is a God of Good Fortune...

Shadow Lodge

While taking the idea of a God of war to an extreme would be a reason for someone to betray them and force them into the world of mortals, it would probably be too close to Hadran's background, so likely not a good idea.

What about a character who is descended from other gods, like if Iomedae and Aroden had a kid for example, including Aroden makes them more forgettable in my opinion, considering the death of Aroden and how much people are focused on his disappearance and the events surrounding it. Perhaps the child lead to the disappearance itself and was cast down by Iomedae.

I liked Daemonprinces presentation so I hope s/he does not mind me using it.

I present Rymnhild, deity of Seasons, Change, and Destruction. Hopefully this concept sounds like an interesting deity to add to your pbp.

Myth:

All things change, nothing is more assured than this. Many of the divine entities of the cosmos acquaint themselves with Rymnhild, but none bother with befriending or trying to manipulate her, for they feel their time is better spent with her sister, the god of fate and destiny. The other divines do this not out of disrespect, they behave this way because change is desirable, however bitter it can be.

Rymnhild's primary role in the cosmos is the revolution of the seasons, ensuring that the winter snow melts giving way to spring, spring gives to the heat of summer, summer gives to the season of harvest, and fall gives way to the hibernation of winter. Many might claim that the seasons are always the same, but in actuality the change that occurs is so small that it takes a millennia to notice it is there, something only the longest lived creatures can attest with considerable scrutiny.

Of the faithful that pay tribute or prayer to Rymnhild, it is often only to asked that any change process be easy or pleasurable and occasionally prayers for a longer or shorter season. On occasion, religious warlords pray to her for favor as they seek change through the destruction of existing establishment, but there are plenty of other deity's that fill a particular niche, and far more entity's caring enough to lend their aid at all.

History:

Related to the gods of the earth, moon, sun, time, and destinies.

Often worshipped, a term used loosely, by less civilized cultures.

Despite her destruction domain, she is opposed to entities that seek complete and utter destruction or destruction simply for destruction's sake.

Truth:

Silvery, straight hair braided with side bangs reveal a fine, radiant face. Shimmering eyes, shift from vibrant color to color, gaze mysteriously from hooded eyelids. Her skin is a myriad of colors depending on the time of year: pale white in winter, rosey in spring, darker in summer, freckled in fall. There's something alluring about her, perhaps it's a feeling of excitement or perhaps it's simply her mysterious nature. She dresses in hides and furs blended with dresses that are either always fashionable, or at the height of fashion.

She is often drawn to participate in conflicts where an establishment has gained an unnatural edge to ensure its continuation. The establishments can be represented by a bevy of offenders from empires, rulers, dragons, undead, gods, or sentient artifacts. Because of her nature Rymnhild's involvement can be ever so subtle and take lifetimes to come to fruition up to direct and violent acts that result in instantaneous changes.

Crunch:

Cavalier or Paladin, Magus, Oracle perhaps? Probably aasimar or changling to reflect either divine blood or the ability to change her appearance. Probably Neutral or Lawful neutral alignment.

About ToxicDragon:

Im in 3 active games, all over a minimum of 1000+ posts. I've never done gestalt or mythic campaigns but I get the idea. I enjoy inter party relationship interaction and development as it is often the best place to express character morals, personality, and flaws.

I'm really not sure how to be more clear on the details that:

1) Characters should not know which deity betrayed them. This means that you, as the player, shouldn't even write that up - it should be a mystery to both of you.
2) There is zero evidence of any kind of their existence. Nobody - in the entire pantheon, not just among mortals - remembers they exist.

There are in-game, plot-relevant reasons for this, and you'll discover them during the course of the game. Probably sooner rather than later, actually. ^^ Please keep these details in mind when working on your submissions.

Thanks for the feedback Hadran! Yeah, I'm aware that being large could be problematic in a city. I've got a few ways planned for maintaining mediumness but I didn't want to dwell overmuch on the crunch until Skaar was chosen.

Shadow Lodge

Hadran's background may be the issue there as it blames Sarenrae and seems to allude to the idea that the gods are intentionally making him forgotten.

I'm not really looking to lay the blame on a specific entity but more looking for a reason of why they are no longer a god.

Would this mean that the offspring of two deities would be out, as such an event may be more difficult to forget?

What I'm trying to ask I guess is how much should the player character be involved with specific deities, such as how Hadran was Sarenrae's lover and assisted in the bringing down of Rovagog, even if the character has been forgotten, in this case the character already in the game has significant involvement.

GM Rednal wrote:

I avoided the specifics of Skaar's betrayal and fall but I did mention a few major events in Golarion history that he was responsible for. It seems reasonable to assume that those facts could have been lost over time (both to the gods and man) or does that count too much as evidence?

Fortunately I'm not pitching a god of law and litigousness, otherwise you'd be getting a cease and desist letter... :)

Yeah I think maybe we might have been confused by reading the whole bit about Hadraniel and all that lol.

Okay I didn't even check out the first thread. So it's basically like we all have to go on missions to collect pieces of ourselves so to speak? I can work with that.

So NO one remembers us, but we still remember everything right?

@Dylos: Oh, no, events of any magnitude can be forgotten - that's not the issue. ^^ They can be involved with previous deities at any level that makes sense for them, but I will ask you to try and avoid writing up anything that obviously contradicts existing lore.

@Skaar: Nobody will associate any existing evidence with your character. Things that could be forgotten were - everything else was associated with someone else, and the nature of the event means that nobody thought to question these things because, so far as they were aware, it had always been true.

@Angelpalm: Correct. Within the universe, your character is the only one who remembers their existence as a deity - even Hadran, in this case, wouldn't recall you.

Got it. Thanks.

So, being inspired by this crazy Diamond Template, I propose Sarenrae's evil(?) twin.

Soren
Goddess of Perfection and Absolutes
The Diamond; The Hardlight; The Cold Glare

Spoiler:
In the ages before time, Abadar collected into his Vault all the first and perfect forms of things. Among his store was a perfect ray of Sarenrae’s sunlight which, shattering all other containers, he finally trapped in a perfect diamond. In the First Vault it laid for millennia among the other perfections, completely unaware of the tumults occurring in the outside world – of the battle against Rovagug, of the raising of the Starstone, of the rise and fall of mortal empires. At the same time, Abadar and Sarenrae were also unaware that they had unwittingly borne a child: Sarenrae’s perfect sunlight, impregnating Abadar’s perfect diamond, reflected and refracted exponentially within its prison until it sparked divinity.

This only came to light (so to speak) when Abadar was forced to open his Vault to retrieve the first shadow for Zon-Kuthon. Sarenrae, understandably lacking confidence in her ally at that time, requested that her light be returned to her. Grudgingly, the Lawgiver lost two perfections that day, both the first shadow and the perfect light, and the Dawnflower unexpectedly received a daughter, a divine echo of herself, which she named Soren.

After being self-raised for millennia in the First Vault, however, and inheriting from her father’s diamond some measure of his lawful stubbornness, Soren was not a mere echo of her mother. Sarenrae disconcertingly found her daughter harsher, crueller, and less compassionate than herself, accustomed to perfection and unaccepting of weakness, a hardened version of her own personality. No attempt on Sarenrae’s part could sway or soften Soren’s absolutisms. In the darkness of the Vault, the original sunlight had retained its brightness, but become cold and hard in its gleam.

The Dawnflower was nonetheless happy to claim her daughter as her champion and herald, a position at which Soren, beautiful and unrelenting, excelled – to a fault. Cults of Soren arose, first as a faction in Sarenrae’s church, then increasingly as an off-shoot. The teachings of Soren took Sarenrae’s policies to extremes, preaching an unwavering and uncompromising approach to strength and morality. They defended the weak, but blamed them for weakness; healed the sick, but did not ease their pain; redeemed the evil and refused to kill, even to the point of torturing repentance out of their prisoners. Soren believed true perfection could be formed only from great pressure.

Just when her inquisitions were beginning to worry the pantheon – Abadar and Sarenrae, primarily, but also Iomedae (concerned about her templars turning fanatical), the forces of Hell (concerned about being attacked by fanatics), and Zon-Kuthon (concerned about torture being turned to Good use) – the Diamond shattered. From her childhood, Soren was used to imprisonment and isolation, but woke to find herself not only forgotten, but flawed and imperfect, a heavy blow to the goddess of Perfection.

I'm thinking of building a Dervish of the Dawn, but crueller - piling intimidation, nausea, blindness, and various forms of suffering on her enemies.

I was also toying with the idea of White-Haired Witch (actually usable for once!) and some kind of grappling spider goddess, but couldn't come up with a non-Evil angle.

Yeah sorry guys it is a bit different then the initial recruitment. We knew we were forgotten and somehow stripped of our power. While my story is about being cast out by Sarenrae, Hadran does not blame her. He blames himself and she was not strong enough to do it on her own so there is plenty of room for Rednal to come up with the person truely responsible. As Hadran's story is written the gods knew what they did, so who made them forget. I don't know but Rednal does :) Based on the game so far I don't think Moloch is a big fan of me, but I don't think he has the weight or balls to hatch such a conspiracy against the god of valor and knowledge. I think he is working for the big fish right now, because who else would know about me if forgotten besides the person behind it all :)

Side note: Rednal is awesome and the best GM I have played with in PBP. He is consistant and tells a good story and keeps things challenging. We hope to find someone to go the long haul with us.

While not a paladin Hadran would be hard pressed to find himself helping an evil god reclaim power. Hadran is still a lawful good god.

Hmm. Skaar's probably CN leaning toward good.

Yeah I was definitely impressed by the sheer number of games Rednal's been maintaining. I'm DMing ~3 at any given time while playing in quite a few more but DMing takes vastly more time and energy than playing. The fact that he's kept 4 of these high power games going for one year+ is great.

Shadow Lodge

Ok, Rednal your last post was very helpful, I now have an idea that I am moving forward with.

As much as I want to do a gestalt gunslinger (so much that I arrived at it as my goto both in this thread and in the original recruitment, without rereading the original thread first), I will be moving away from that idea, instead I will be going with a Fighter (Viking)/Skald/Shaman (Witch Doctor w/Nature). The idea is a very Ulfen half elf who is more or less the Ulfen Guard patron deity, and as such, his theme is protection. I linked to Nethys rather then d20pfsrd because the later refers to this PrC as Furious Guardian and removes much of the flavor that the character would embrace. I would have liked to make this character the child of Cayden Cailean and Calistria, but Cayden Cailen is not Ulfen, he is Taldane. I may still have them be Calistria's child, and that is where I see the shaman end of things coming from (I thought about Sorcerer as well as that may fit Calistria better, but Shaman fits the theme of protection better.)

The only possible template I see that fits the character seems to be golem only Shield Guardian and it notably includes a weakness which would severely impact a Viking/Skald, the inability to rage within range of the amulet.

My experience with Rednal causes me to seek out his recruitment threads, he is easily my favorite PBP GM, and I want to be in another game with him (I'm already in his RoTR).

Is there a specific setting we're in, or a homebrew, or a sorta mashup one?

Hadran, The Fallen wrote:

"Evil" twin was a bad convention to invoke. Soren has a more absolute, more demanding version of Good than Sarenrae - so more Lawful Neutral. I'll have another think about other ideas though.

I have a new idea that i hope isn't already taken. A goddess of secrets and hidden things. Some things aren't meant to be known and keeping information out of the wrong hands was her thing. There are rumors she has seen Asmodeus' contract. She once had fruitful relationships with many of the gods. Choosing to stay neutral in most conflicts but give secret aid where she felt it warranted.

Strangely she opposed the throwing down of Hadran and planned to help him restore himself. Perhaps that reason was large enough to cause her own downfall. Perhaps not.

She would be a wizard/slayer/mindchemist with tons of knowledge skills and mostly using ranged combat or spells. Using the discovery that's let's arrows be infused with bombs. Will try and post more soon.

That's good. While the story is not just mine, it is about both players it would be hard to go away from his current path. He seeks the artifacts that house his power, but he is finding them through helping people and gathering information. I would just think and evil god would be tunnel visioned on regaining his power at any cost which would be peoples lives. So far Hadran has killed very few people. The priest that tried to kill him before he awoke and a possesed woman that had completed a dark ritual to Moloch, oh and a giant Troglodyte that worshiped Moloch.

@Highonholywater: If you want to tie into my backstory I think it's fine. We will have no idea now though so it wouldn't help make things smooth like we are old friends or anything. I wouldn't base a build around knowledge as its one of my words and I have a rank in all and I will be 3rd level as well which means the I will be able to trance for a +20 to a knowledge roll so I don't wan't your build to have anything taken away from it.

Should we be looking to work our backgrounds in with Hadran's?

You don't have to we won't remember any of the stuff related to each other. We only remember our time as gods and what we knew of other gods as long as they have not had what happened to us done :)

Yea that's what could make it interesting. Of course we wouldn't remember each other. It was more a possible reason she could have been plotted against for. Likely going to dial back a bit on knowledges then. Not maxing them or anything. Didn't realize you had the trance mystery either. Going to also add Discretion to her portfolio. Magus will go better than Alchemist. Though there is a template that i am interested in. Missing

Well a big part of Skaar's background is that he didn't really get along with his own pantheon so it wouldn't be hard to work in some kind of connection or forgotten dealing with Hadran.

@Monkeygod: You're in what's basically a near-Golarion setting. Most things are very similar, but the pantheon and history may be a bit different depending on who your deity was/is. (Side Note: Remember that there's an entire universe to play around in. You don't even have to be a deity that was originally from Golarion - you could have tossed your power there after getting attacked while watching over a different world or plane. Some deities are cosmic, some are planetary, some are very local... there are plenty of options, and creativity is good.)

@Skaar: That's entirely up to you. Of course, do keep in mind that even if you'd encountered/worked with/fought/whatever each other in the past (which wouldn't even be unlikely, especially if you were 'active' in the same period of time), neither of you would remember it.

I don't have the myster yet, get it at level 3, essential for the god of knowledge don't you think :)

I understand. It'd just make for good story-fuel on your end.

Shadow Lodge

Rednal, how do you feel about the shield guardian template either altering it for a non golem or using clockwork to qualify?

EDIT: nevermind, constructs cannot rage, would have to use a similar template that didn't require one to be a construct.

Magi make terrible ranged combatants. Will go Wizard/Slayer/Fighter(archer) and find ways to reduce arcane spell failure. Could see arcane archer getting put in there too.

OK, so rewriting Flinnegan's background, his weapon would not be in Zon-Kuthar's hands, it would have been scattered along with the shards of his divinity, and all memory of his existence. And Zon-Kuthon doesn't remember him as dead, he just doesn't remember him at all. That kind of puts a downer on his plans for revenge:

Zon-Kuthon "Why have you done this?"
Finnegan "Because of the way you tortured me."
Zon-Kuthon "Who are you again?"

I'll rethink it a bit.

Dark Archive

Well, this seems interesting. Dot.

Kind of picturing a NG dwarven deity of stone, steel and nature. A forgotten son of Torag, maybe? One who'd embraced the mountain not as a home, but as a parent: providing food, shelter and means to defend the peoples living therein. Really rough concept and I'd need to think about it more, but I love me some dwarves, and it'd be awesome to add to the dwarven pantheon (especially to fill a hole that has bothered me for quite a while!).

Alrighty. Added a bit loosely tying Skaar's story with Hadran's.

Still nothing about who/what was behind his fall. =)

Kindra:

Goddess of Secrets, Discression and Hidden Things.

Alignment: Lawful Neutral

A long time ago when Kindra was a mortal, before even Aroden himself became a god. She was the first to ascend, though this is not known by many others and is secret to most. While the world was thrown into chaos by the starstone she found a way to it. As a wizard of some power she ignored the Azlants warnings and studied it herself. Obsessed with this otherworldly artifact she would not eat or sleep for weeks, sustained by magic only. All her experiments uncovering the secrets of the stone, that information somehow changed her. Her magic and the stone merged, she ascended to godhood. This also changed the starstone.

Soon after Aroden would follow her and move the stone, founding his city in time. He would be far more famous than her, but those that mattered would know that it was her that was first and it was her that in fact helped Aroden succeed. She had been a servant of his people but held no ill will, merely sadness that their destruction was needed for her ascension. Her followers were small in number and she was little known to most of the common people. Many spies honoured her, lawyers even kings. Many of the other gods were her allies, barely any were enemies. She aided all in sensitive matters and is rumoured to have had dealings with Asmdoeus on some matters. Her greatest regret is aiding certain mortals who attempted the test of the starstone. Those she thought deserved to succeed and actually believed they passed on their own. First Norgorber, her greatest regret, had turned away from after his ascension. Then Cayden Cailean, the drunk whom she had favoured would not return her attentions. Afterwards she vowed never again to help mortals ascend and she feared none would ever again. It was to her great relief when Iomedae rose. Some of the other gods suspected her of helping though she herself wondered if perhaps Aroden had noticed her when his need of a herald was apparent.

She was greatly surprised when Aroden disappeared and was presumed dead. Despite her own investigation how all this happened remains a mystery, something she greatly dislikes. Others keeping secrets from her did not bode well. She had proved her trustworthiness and methods of discretion to the gods. Whoever had reason to do this was a decided enemy. One she would not have much chance to discover, for she too went missing. Cut off from their god, her followers soon forgot about her. None the wiser they went about their business, abandoning their prayers and asking other gods to watch over them. All forgot her, all knowledge of her was wiped away.

She suspects that whoever had a hand in Arodens' death wanted her gone as well. An unknown enemy. Why? Kindra never tried to thwart any gods plans, rather prefering to keep things running smoothly between all the gods, only stepping aside when war was apparent. Some dislike her for dealing with their enemies but she alwasy remained acceptably neutral in all her dealings. Her followers had never been threatened either, going about their business in peace, though one offshoot would use their secrets to blackamil others. At her disappearance most of these gave their allegiance to Norgorber instead.

She will wake as a human, the form she was before becoming a god. She only has a small part of her original wizardly power left.

I am not applying, but I can vouch for Skaar as a quality player. I have been in two different games with him for over a year, and he is a reliable & frequent poster, knowledgeable about the mechanics of the game, and descriptive in language - especially where feats of intensity or intimacy are involved.

Wow! Thanks Stratos. <3

Read a little more closely, and before anybody mentions muscling in on Gozreh's turf, I wanted to say that my guy (who I am attempting to name "Frozen Mountain" in Tolkien dwarvish, but am having trouble figuring out where I can find a good dictionary for it >_<*) is going to specifically be covering the domains of the earth: mostly mountains and the underground environs where dwarves are normally common. This should hopefully stay clear of most of Gozreh's turf, while still filling the lack of a dwarven nature deity.

Vague mechanical plans are for a Dwarf Druid/Aegis/TBD (with the Aegis bit fluffed as forming his armor from wood/stone) but I really haven't put much thought into that bit.

*:
Seriously, if anybody knows where to find an easily accessed Tolkien Khuzdul dictionary, I will give you my eternal love and devotion.

@DM:
There is a single mechanical thing I HAVE thought about, and I wanted to run it by you.

I am vaguely interested in adapting part of an old character for this game, and that character was a Dwarven Golaith Druid of Torag who was going to use the Blessed Hammer feat. Would it be possible to change the requirements of that feat so that my character would be able to use it? Removing the requirement for worshipping Torag, and possibly allowing it to work with a different weapon? The Warhammer is cool, but I think my character will be more likely to use something else. We can sit down and discuss which weapon, and decide what will make both of us happy, I think. :)

Yes for me this would be my first game to be in on this site. Not currently playing in any games but I am dming my own gestalt pvp tournament on myth-weavers with about 15+ players.....

@Seranov: I believe the name you're looking for is Makallûn'abad, which literally translates to "he who is frozen mountain". A giant PDF dictionary is available here.

Need your adress, Rednal. I have to figure out where to send my love and devotion.

Gonna cut out the squiggly above the "u", though, because I don't know how to make those without copy-pasting, and that's a pain! D:

You could also use Alt+0251 if you wanna enter it that way. ^^ Special characters are always a pain, but... *Shrugs* Well, using them is up to the player, I guess.

dotting this, I have some ideas, just need to flush them out.

The only one I can ever remember is Alt + 0153 and that's only because it's so good for snark.

Shadow Lodge

It's easier with an android tablet, since the û is accessed without having to remember anything.

Also, I have the name for the character I am working on now, Aer'Besethir (song of the oath of eternal protection). Also to make things more fun, I'm making Calistra her father (and some random no name mortal Ulfen woman the mother). Calistra is said to have a male form according to inner see gods, and well magic.

I am currently suffering from major writer's block and because of it, I am withdrawing. Thank you.
