Advice

I have a question. . .what is the best light weapon for a halfling rogue?

Thanks!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Kukris, short sword, wakazashi, and daggers.

If playing a certain build a sap can be dangerous.

You may want to consider the Ninja instead of the Rogue. The only meaningful thing you give up is evasion (which you can buy back with an advanced trick at level 10+ anyways...) but you get a whole bunch of awesome goodies in return. You also get Wakizashi proficiency for free, which is very nice.

Unless your GM is some kind of fluff-Nazi who insists that all Ninjas must be stereotypical masked assassins native to a faux-Japanese setting there's nothing preventing you from just playing the character as a rogue with a few magical tricks up his sleeve.

It's pretty much a core game...no ninja's.

I like daggers, especially if you're going for a thrown weapon option to your melee. Daggers are cheap, keep an extra pair or two on you and take quickdraw, and you can sneak attack critters from somewhere it's hard to get to (useful when you need to stay out of melee, which is often) then draw a replacement for stabby-time

There is a knife thrower archetype for rouge that gets 1d8 Sneak Attack when using daggers. That is 1d8 if the daggers are thrown or used in melee btw. The down side is you have 1d4 with all other weapons when making sneak attacks.

Sap is absoultely deadly with the Sap Adept/Sap Master feats. Sure it is nonlethal, but the double sneak attack amount of damage you can dish out is stunning.

Other then that, Kukri, Crossbow(for when you need something something outside 30ft range) and Shortsword.

Unlike my twin, I prefer TWFing with Kukris. Get them with keen and add crit damage to your SA!

On TWFing with precision damage. I like very high critical threat rating and the butterfly sting feat. I let people with more impressive critical damage take the critical. It also gives me the feel of aiding team mates.

I also use overlapping feats. Weapon focus and improved critical. It makes my character more efficient and opens up more feat choices for some defense feats like iron will.

I also never go over improved two weapon fighting. I dont feel the greater feat hits enough. You also dont have to rush improved TWF.

especially out of hand when the GM allows called shot rules - 100 hp warrior has 50 on his head or whatever. Bam! sap rogue sneak attack. One shot.

If you're a halfling, get the Warslinger alternate racial trait and use a sling.
