It is just over a week when I did it the last time. So time to have a look again. There are well above 1000 characters now in 30 settlements. Brighthaven did grow massivly and they represnt nearly 20% of all characters.
Golgotha is healthy growing but couldn't keep pace and Paeros now also is above 100.
Big jumps in numbers are Forgeholm and Auroral. Some sign of life in Iron Gauntlet and Dagedai finally went up from a single member.
So 3 settlements >100
8 more > 50
12 more >30
15 more >20
10 more >10
Still 10 settlements <10
And 3 settlements still no signs of life at all

Freevale and Hammerfall lost members - albeit minimal. All other settlements above 10 members did grow.

The Emerald Lodge now has a growing US membership.

@Thod,

Thanks for update. :)

I am confused by your post title, isn't EU dating system more like 4/02/2015?

For the Americans its 2/4/2015. I don't know what 20140204 is...

Goblin Squad Member

its supposed to be 20150204 year month day

That new year habit of typing last years number...

Heck, some systems that use that format also include the 24 hour format time at the end,either in GMT or local. 201502040751

Welcome, all you February explorers!

@Jakaal,

Thanks for info. Notice how Forgeholm is on the move up? Nice to see all that hard work paying off. :)

Last nights escalations event was fun, I hope to see more people join us for future events.

I'm still soooo much last year :( Should have been 20150204

Yes - 04/02/2015 is how I would normally post it. But that would confuse the american players - can't get myself to post 02/04/2015 as this confuses me - so I use the sortable version.

Welcome, all you February explorers!

We can have one more if you accept the waitlist for groundlings.

Working from home today. I'll log on during my next break and do that. But shhhh! Don't tell Brigheibh!

So, if you take a look at those numbers, count for DTs and Alts (some people are heavily using alts to pad their numbers), as well as people coming in from Feb, I think we have 600 people in settlements, and another 300-400 people outside of settlements. Brighthaven has 216 XP earning characters in those numbers, I think 1 is an alt.

DT = Earning XP
Alt = 1kxp, non XP earning, Character.

Overall, its looking decent from day 1 to day 35. My suspicion is that iteration 3 and 4 will bring in more people. Iteration 3 will bring in more people adverse to PvP (at least for awhile, or until they have spent enough money and time that after it goes back towards more open PvP they will be invested). Iteration 4 will bring in all of those people wanting to own houses, camps, and potentially more, because I have a feeling 4 is going to be a rather big iteration.

Conclusion = Game is now on track for decent growth, it just needs features for retention.

All done! Back to work now, but will be online later today. Still need to get my DT over to Emerald Lodge.

The DT's being sold like hot cakes is another indicator (where are the people who decried the game's death when they weren't selling now?).

I'd like to see ~15 healthy settlements break from the pack and start absorbing the no shows. The sooner we have 12-15 settlements with ~50+ players, the sooner this game takes off.

Agreed. One big annoyance right now is how tough it is to recruit. Most people have no idea what is going on in the game mechanically or politically and those of us helping to run things are so busy we have almost no time to spend recruiting outside of forum posts; which only a fraction of the population ever reads.

There are fairly active players (on these forums no less) who thought the League settlements were inactive. Trying to catch the eye of newbies without stationing someone to meet and greet in every starter town is quite difficult.

Absolutely Thannon. That's exactly why it takes a good amount of people to run a settlement. Recruiting is its own beast, asking people who already have too much on their plate to do it is just asking for burn out.

Goblin Squad Member

I like the recruiters who yell at me when I start talking to a new person about our settlement.

Claiming the Starting Town belongs to them.

I just created a thread so that each active company can post an elevator pitch for their company, and we can just point new players in that direction.. Right now recruitment consists of spamming hex/local and other out of date lists.... It would be nice to have an up to date, concise, list and description of active companies to let players make their choice.

Just want to point out that a large majority of players in the game are currently NOT aligned with a settlement. GW gets a daily email telling us how many unique player accounts are active in the game. From that data, it tells me that settlements need to do more recruiting! Also, I think GW needs to figure out better ways to get new players hooked up with settlements.

It is great to see the settlements grow and we all know that the best experience in PFO is when you group together with folks.

Thanks for the update Thod!

A large majority? Wow, we really do have our work cut out for ourselves.

Goblin Squad Member

@LeeSw - who? give me names, I have a sharp pointy end they can yell at!

Iron Guantlet has an owner? Anyone know this "Nilus" person?

Goblin Squad Member

@Hoffman, don't forget Help Tab, you frequently utilize that as well.

@Lisa Stevens,

Hello, How are you?

In regards to helping people find settlements, I think cutting the levels available to train in by half, and limiting crafting abilities to level 2 or 3 would make for a great incentive to venture out and find a new home!

Just my thoughts, no need to throw pennies at me.

Sounds like crowd-forging time to me!
