Let's say I have a lance. When I hit someone I do 1d8+10.
When I'm on a horse and I charge, I do 2d8+20
What happens when I critically hit on a charge (the lance has a x3 multiplier)?
Is the damage 6d8+60? (double damage for the charge, x3 crit multiplyer)
Or
4d8+40? (Double damage plus the x3 crit = x4 crit)
Or something else I haven't listed?

"Multiplying Damage
Sometimes you multiply damage by some factor, such as on a critical hit. Roll the damage (with all modifiers) multiple times and total the results.
Note: When you multiply damage more than once, each multiplier works off the original, unmultiplied damage. So if you are asked to double the damage twice, the end result is three times the normal damage."
That might be relevant. I think it's 4x the original damage.

I was in a campaign with a cavalier, and this was a constant problem (he had tons of damage multiplying feats). We decided that if you are doing double and triple damage at once, it would be 4x damage (2+3-1). I don't really get the math behind this, but that was his interpretation of the rules.

That is correct. Add together all the multipliers, subtracting one from every multiplier after the first. A lance charge does x2. A spirited lance charge does x3. A lance charge crit does x4. A spirited lance charge crit does x5.
So spirited charge lance crit plus litany of righteousness would be x6, right?

conan_the_barbarian,
1d8 doubled and tripled in 3.X/PF is: 1d8(base) + 1d8(double) + 2d8(triple) = 4d8
His interpretation is correct.
A better way to think about it is 'double = roll again' and triple = 'roll again twice'.
So what we do is we add up the "roll" and the "roll again" so that what is being rolled is "Roll, and roll again three times".

If I'm remembering Litany of Righteousness correctly and it doubles the damage, yes. Assuming you had a Good aura, of course.

What Gauss said. All multipliers essentially are just adding X damage, where X is your base attack damage. So a crit with a lance is X+2X(crit)+1X(charge). Of course, abilities like Flaming or Holy (or Sneak Attack, but that seems unlikely on a charging lance) add after you get however many X's worth of damage.

It doesn't get really ridiculous until you toss smite and power attack in. I've seen a PC have a base smite/power attack damage of 1d6 + 41 do x4 damage on a spirited charge/litany of righteousness with a lance hit.
Yup, that's 4d6 + 164
