PFS (Core) Gnome Barbarian Dazzling Display Route Advice?

This is my 14th PFS PC and I was looking to do somethings I've never done.

Need advice on small melee characters.
What stat array since I need str, con, and cha?
Can he overcome the suboptimal choices which impose size penalty to str and -4 to intimidate?
Is dazzling display/ terrifying howl fun to play?

Ive got a dazzling-dishearting display focused bard with +38 intimidate (now lvl 10).

I find it disappointing for the simple reason that dirge of doom bardic performance + the Fear spell can do everything that dazzling display can do more effectively, and without having to spend 3 feats.

A small charakter should take the taunt feat and invest in bluff for that.
Very feat intensive and not always useful.

This is for core, there is no taunt feat. I would play a gnome for this, the boost to con is better than the boost to dex, and you have SLAs for fun and arcane strike to help make up for damage.

Skill focus will overcome the -4 size penalty.
