Quests?

Is Paizo still looking for people to submit to the quests or will submissions of that nature to right to the general submission pile?

Hey there, FYM.

Paizo still operates the Pathfinder Society Open Call, which allows interested writers to submit a Quest of 2,000 words or less for review, possible publication, and future freelance opportunities. At this time, I am in charge of the program and have been working my way through the inbox. Quests are a great test of how well an author would handle a full scenario--or any assignment, for that matter--and I find myself reading submissions with that in mind.

What I have found is quite positive, and there are two scenarios coming out in January and February being written by authors who have participated in the Open Call (plus at least a few more authors on the way whom I have contacted regarding availability but have not yet had the right project ready to assign). I encourage you to send in an adventure.

Regarding general submissions:

To my knowledge, there is not a general submission pile, and I understand the reason is partly for legal reasons; intellectual property is tricky to navigate, and you'll notice the Open Call does require signing a form addressing those issues. It's also because we solicit and outline our books in-house, so we're on the lookout for freelancers who can take a cool outline and make it really shine with great words and ideas.

Sounds good. Glad to get a quick response. I didn't know if I was going to throw my heart into something to have it basically go right into the circular filing basket!
