The Forgotten God Re-Recruitment [High-Power, High-Challenge]

Recruitment

1 to 50 of 58 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

One of my players has dropped, so I'm recruiting a second player for my first table of this game. The original recruitment thread is here, and you'll be able to get a much better sense of what the game's like by looking over that.

This particular game is a two-player campaign, so it'll be just you and the current player going through things.

How to Apply

Write up your character's background, detailing who they are as a deity. I'll be using this to check for several things. Among them will be overall writing skill (how vivid your character is, how good your spelling and grammar are, etc.), your posting history (Players who don't seem like they're likely to disappear anytime soon are strongly preferred), and details of that nature. After creating the background, please give me a brief overview of how you plan to build your character (classes, desired templates, party roles, etc.). Note that I care less about what you choose as your divine theme and more about your ability to play it well (though I won't be accepting an evil character for this game - they simply wouldn't fit).

Remember that despite the power of this game, you should actively try to avoid min-maxing. I run these games as high-challenge campaigns, but in many cases, you'll actually be in more danger if you try for things like stratospheric AC or totally ridiculous damage output. I am not above arbitrarily powering up enemies in order to continue challenging you. Rest assured that you'll have plenty of opportunities to be epic without trying to totally break the game's system. Oh, and there's only two of you - if you aren't diverse enough with your skills, you could find yourselves in big trouble when fighting boss-type foes your normal strategy won't work on...

Also, please do not stat up your character - building a three-class gestalt is a lot of work even at Level 2, and I don't want you to go through that unless you're selected for this game. ^^

I'm hoping to make a decision within a few days and bring your character into the current events - Hadran, the active player, is about halfway through the Citadel of Flame PFS scenario (no credit, sorry - we are so far beyond official rules here that it'd never be accepted), and I'd like for your character to show up by the end of that.

Shadow Lodge

Cool, I'm thinking of a storm god theme, suli warlock(3rd party)/monk (four winds)
Not sure on the third class, but I think I would swap out one level for either elementally infused or celestially blessed

He uses his warlock levels to shoot bolts of lightning and teleport around,
Monk levels are used for the usual lightning punches super speed

With my first mythic rank I'm getting mythic eldritch heritage

The inspiration for the character is raiden from mortal combat

He flys he punches, he teleports the teleportation is a swift action,

Standard tactic is to shoot bolts of lightning at enemies while they're far away then ready an action to teleport behind his attacker then lightning flurry punch them

Shadow Lodge

If warlock is considered a no go, or If I can't decide on my third class,
I also have ideas for a fire god and a death god.
Both use oracle
Fire uses bard, and the fire infused template, and bloodrager
Death uses antipaladin or bloodrager and the vetala vampire template, (vivisectionist afterwards)

The Exchange

I will consider a submission to this campaign.

The Exchange

Name: Anhur
Divine Theme: Rebirth (Life, Death, Healing, Transformation)
Worshipers: druids, the elderly, healers, monks, researchers, rulers
Favored Weapon: unarmed strike
Holy Symbol: open hand holding a moth

Background:
Sometimes portrayed as a god of mercy, Anhur was perhaps most known for his gift of reincarnation. Because he so enjoyed watching the works of mortals, he would often provide healing or even another life to those he felt could accomplish more. He encouraged his followers towards self-betterment, whether through exercise, magic, alchemy, or some combination. Also considered a god of second chances, he often sent priests or even his personal herald to appear before the downtrodden and unlucky to offer redemption and aid.

Though many of his deeds and followers could be called virtuous, he did not withhold his blessings from the self-serving or villainous as his true desire was for mortals to achieve; watching someone build a great city was as satisfying as watching another raze it. Because of this, his followers tended to divide into factions: some temples would be devoted to life, healing, and helping the poor, while others were filled with wizards and arcane researchers more interested in creating spells, transmutation rituals, and the manipulation of life forces. It was perhaps this inherent division that was most responsible for his falling, and a concern he resolved never again to overlook once he ascended again.

Build Concept:
Monk(flowing, sacred mountain) 2/Alchemist(internal, vivisectionist) 2/Fighter(unarmed) 2
(not sure if this class combo is "legal" by your rules, as I'm not sure how much of a caster an Alchemist would be)
Party Role: melee combatant, wisdom skills, some intelligence skills, eventually sharing extracts
Character Behavior: preserve life of companion and interesting/useful NPCs, pursue transmutation and healing formulae, give or take life as needed to pursue path to godhood

Alchemists have extracts up to sixth-level, so they're considered to be a mid-range caster.

Shadow Lodge

Would the warlock third party class be allowed?

The one from Adamant Entertainment on d20pfsrd? Looking over it - and examining some other opinions on it - I'll have to say 'no'. It doesn't seem like a terribly well-balanced class, and this game can get pretty strange as it is.

The Exchange

Build Concept:
Monk(flowing, sacred mountain) 2/Alchemist(internal, vivisectionist) 2/Cleric(ascetic, divine strategist) 2
Party Role: melee combatant, wisdom skills, some intelligence skills, healing, spell support, domain support
Character Behavior: preserve life of companion and interesting/useful NPCs, pursue transmutation and healing magic, give or take life as needed to pursue path to godhood

Name: Ong'Rag
Divine Theme: War, Strength, Courage, Overcoming Adversity.
Worshippers: Warriors, Soldiers, Orcs, people wrongfully imprisoned.
Favored Weapon: Battle Axe
Holy Symbol: A circle with a muscular man or Orc breaking free of chains.

Working on background.
Build concept is a Primalist Steelblood Bloodrager 2/Unbreakable Fighter 2/ Oracle of Battle 2. Tactics will include self and buddy buffing, melee fighting, and casting while raging.

That's fine, I have two backup concepts
Ok since there is already a life/death god and I don't want to step on any toes I'll make a fire god
He will also be a god of the kind of things fire symbolizes, like rebirth, life, power, magic, knowledge,
I'll use this profile since it was already made and it was also a fire god in a previous game

He is worshiped by dragons, mages, pheonixes, ifretie, fire elementals, some demons, seekers of knowledge and of second chances, those with a ravenous hunger for power,

Holy symbol: a fire surounding a blue eye.

Build: elementally infused 1/bloodrager 1/bard 2/oracle 2

Silver Crusade

Name: Avathar
Divine Theme: Shadow, Justice, Sacrifice, Trickery, Protection
Followers: Inquisitors, Secret Police, Vigilantes,

He was the God of Justice at any price, that which comes from the Shadows and returns to the Shadows. The way it was Justice was achieved did not matter as long as Justice was achieved (Harming Innocents is not Justice).

Build: Sorceror Shadow, Inquisitor , Monk

@All: As a further note, the current player in the game is a deity of Valor, Knowledge, Protection, and Glory. I am trying to avoid having too much overlap - both with the current player and the canon deities of the setting - so keep that in mind as you make your ideas. ^^

Do you have any particular aversion to having the same player in multiple games? I'm very interested in this campaign but am one of the players in your (much different) stab things in the face game...

The only players I would outright reject are those already in this game, so you're free to enter. ^^ I'm judging solely by quality of submission.

Cool, thanks! I work pretty late tonight but I'll work on a pitch tomorrow morning (or possibly late tonight when I should be sleeping)... So far I have one idea for a god that i really like but can't figure out good mechanics for, and another idea for a fun build that I can't quite nail down the divine concept for... Hopefully the next idea will be a perfect synthesis of concept and build (or even just a good idea for the mechanics for the god-concept I already have).

Hey guys I will be giving Rednal, who is a super sweet DM my input on the character that will be selected. Not that your character will have this knowledge, but here is Hadran's Backstory so you get a feeling for who he is. You can also read through the Gameplay thus far.

Backstory:
In the time before creation two angels advanced to become gods. The goddess Saranrae and her lover and companion Hadraniel. Sarenrae was elevated for her compassion, patience and sense of peace. Hadraniel was her opposite and balance in many ways. His virtues were of protection, glory, valor, and knowledge. If Sarenrae was the Dawn flower, Hadraniel was the Light of Glory. He shined brightest when faced with adversity. With these virtues they both had many followers among the first people.

Rovagug had sought to destroy the gods and all that they had created since the dawn of time. His wake brought forth great destruction. His wrath was so great that even the bickering gods decided to unite against him. Hadraniel learned all he could of the great beast. He fought valorously and struck the great blow to weaken Rovagug. It was at this moment Sarenrae was able to cast down the beast and imprison it in the hells, with the aid of Asmodeus.

Hadraniel received great glory for his contribution to the fight. His story spread among his mortal followers. They too started to feel they were part of this glory. This became too much for the young god to handle. He became brash and superior. He even started to push away his love. Sarenrae was still patient and offered compassion and understanding, trying to rein Hadraniel back. Even she was unable to stop the change. Soon his valor turned to wrath, his glory turned to bloodlust. He pushed and urged his followers to seek war, vengeance and strife. He had strayed from his path. He had not yet become the next great beast of destruction, but Sarenrae would not wait to see this happen.

It was hard to keep secrets from the god of knowledge, but Sarenrae met in secret with the other virtuous gods. They came up with a plan. They wanted to steal his power, and hide it away. They would disperse the power through artifacts throughout the land. If Hadraniel would be worthy again, he would find these artifacts and take his power back. This task was not easily done. The gods of virtue had to enlist the help of Asmodeus once again. They entered into one of his contracts and he was able to put the finishing touches on the suppression spell.

The pieces were now set. Sarenrae would have to throw him down, much like she did with Rovagug. She was sad for what must pass, but knew her love would one day be redeemed. She made her move. Hadraniel was easily overtaking by the surprise attack. In a few moments the struggle was over. Hadraniel’s powers had been suppressed and divided out. The conscious had been put into a mortal body. He laid in slumber for many centuries while his left over power gathered.

Hadraniel’s secret was kept among the gods, but as with all things fate intervened. The followers of Rovagug had learned of the god’s demise, discerned where his mortal body rested. Hadraniel lay waiting defenseless. He had no followers of his own and was now a forgotten god. Though Rovagug and his followers had not forgotten the blow he struck. A small party was set out to find and destroy Hadraniel’s mortal body. The group determined the body rested in a cave in the great Qadirian desert.

Something stirred the conscious of Hadraniel. Maybe it was the approaching danger. Maybe it was Sarenrae sending a warning to her former love. Whatever it may have been, Hadraniel awoke. He awoke on the ground staring up to the cave ceiling. Slowly he blinked his eyes reflecting back on what had happened. The memories flooded through his mind. He remembered everything. He slowly sat up stretching his arms. He looked from fingertip to fingertip. I, I am a mortal. Was I truly so unjust in my ways. After a moment of thought he continued to look over his new body. He stood slowly realizing the strengths and flaws of the body given to him. He stretched again and again loosing up all the muscles that had lain dormant so long. So I am to prove myself worthy am I? I am truly sorry for what I had become. I will prove myself to all of you again. I will be by your side once again my love. Do not forget or give up on me.

The next few moments were spent in reflection and loosing up. After this, Hadraniel took a look around the cave. Beside him was a simple shirt and pants made of animal hides. Also there was a spiked glove and massive sword. He took a few moments to cloth himself. He then picked up the sword. At first it was heavy. He put the tip to the ground and leaned the pommel back to his shoulder. He slowly ran his hands along the steel, remembering all the battles he had waged. He then took his right hand up to the pommel. He rubbed the image there. It was a sun setting behind a shield with a great sword running along the center of it facing down. My holy symbol. He smiled. From there his hand slid along the grip. It seemed the leather was fresh as if the sword was just crafted. As he felt the grip, he tightened and loosened his hand. Remembering what it was to have the strength to wield a blade. A moment later his grip tightened and he brought the blade up to his face. His left hand came to the grip resting now under the right. Let us see if I remember how to do this. A moment later he through his body into motion. He started a long lost battle dance. The blade seemed as one with him. It was an extension of his body.

Now awake and full of his memories it was time to start his quest. The fates as they are, chose this time for the followers of Rovagug to show up. Seems they were expecting the body to be in slumber and were not prepared for a fight. Hadraniel recognized the symbol emblazed on them right away. He wasted no time launching into both his battle dance and tapping into the strength that flowed in his blood. His strikes were hard and fast. It seemed he had just a touch of divine power still. He could heal this mortal body and ward off attacks as well. In a matter of seconds the followers were slain. Not good not only does Rovagug have followers, but they seem to be aware of me. Guess redemption is not an easy thing.. He took what supplies he could off the men. He cared most about having enough water upon realizing he was in the desert. At least I can follow there track for a bit, maybe there is a town close. I will call myself Hadran for now as well, best not to alert any more potential enemies. With these final thoughts Hadran set out into the desert following the tracks. Only the fates know what lie ahead.

I see some think like me, Hadran is a Bloodrager/Bard/Oracle so Remeber Rednal said diversity. So lets see what you guys got.

Daaaaaang

Name: Daverna
Divine Theme: Growth,Animals,Fury, Trickery
Followers: Druids, Naturalists, Barbarians, Fey
Build: Druid-Growth Domain, Bloodrager-Primalist (or maybe Hunter), Rogue-Scout
Daverna was once one of the Eldest, one of the many powerful lords of the First World who are demigods in their own right. Unlike most of the Eldest, Daverna took an interest beyond just the First World, gaining followers among primitive tribes who worshipped nature totems on the material plane. For varied reasons, a number of others among the Eldest took umbrage at this and united to throw down Daverna. In the moment of defeat, rather than allow Daverna’s essence to reform, the other Eldest spread his power and essence out of the First World to the material plane. Thereby, they believed that he would be forever kept from their realm which they felt he had forsaken and betrayed.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

sorry i'm getting this up a little later than i planned- it turned out to be a busy day. and, i see that since i started someone pitched a guy whose mechanics are somewhat similar... sorry daemonprince (our flavor is quite different though).

so, my core idea was that since he's a forgotten god his portfolio should be something forgotten... so i kind of played with the idea that all the ancient peoples that looked to animals or animal spirits as a source of power were actually worshipers of an animalistic god who would bless his followers with aspects of various animals. since he was forgotten/erased from mortal knowledge, that worship was later interpreted as a primitive superstition. here's what i've come up with so far, please let me know if you have any questions or there's further info you'd like on anything.

Divine Concept/Basic Background:

Modern humanoids believe their primitive ancestors to be superstitious brutes who mimicked animals and attempted crude rites to try to gain their strength. That is only because they have forgotten Grond.

Before the elves learned the spellsong or the dwarves devised means of working iron, Grond was among the first gods. He was called the Beast Lord and the prayers and sacrifices raised by those who wished to manifest some aspect of the mighty animals around them were not mere superstition, but were raised to him. It was Grond who could grant a warrior the strength of a lion. It was Grond who could grant the hunter the sight of an eagle. It was Grond who could grant a wife the fertility of a hare (or a husband the stamina of an ox). And it was Grond who was worshiped far and wide, who was counted among the highest of the gods.

But time changes all things and with the advent of civilization mortals turned their trust to steel and spell and Grond's power began to wane. New gods rose and temples were built within city walls, soon Grond was out of place among the gods. It was whispered among some of the new gods that a wounded animal defending what it thought to be its own territory could be quite dangerous, and they determined to deal with the threat to their new power. Banding together, a force of young godlings marched against him; he showed them the bestial power that had earned him so much worship, but in the end he was overwhelmed and cast down. To ensure that his defeat was complete they did all they could to erase the memory of him, even wiping out the record of his early worship and twisting the remnant of his church. Hints of him remain, however, from the echoes of his worship among the barbarian animist and totemists to the remnant of his church now known as druids, from the agathions he created as a gift to beautiful young Sarenrae to the modern husks of the once majestic lycanthropes he fashioned from his most worthy followers.

What's more, the cornered god was more dangerous than his attackers realized. Sensing his defeat was near he chose to play dead- when the final blow was struck, Grond was not destroyed, as they believed, but rather cast his own essence down into a mortal form where it lay dormant for millenia gathering strength... but now that form stirs, now Grond rises.

Divine Crunch:

Grond
The Beast Lord

Alignment Neutral
Areas of Concern hunting, mating, survival
Domains Animal, Community, Protection, Strength
Favored Weapon Natural Attacks or Unarmed Strikes

Worshipers none for thousands of years
Holy Symbol long forgotten

basic build concept:

Classes
Ranger- divine tracker, shapeshifter, and wild stalker archetypes
Druid- feral shifter archetype
Warpriest- sacred fist archetype

this combination of classes/archetypes gives him a lot of ways to augment himself through animalistic transformations, and that's how he would view every ability- rage is embracing the ferocity of a badger (or other creature that can rage), animal focus is more of a spiritual transformation, shifter's blessing is actually accepting a physical transformation into something more bestial, and wild shape is sort of the ultimate expression of gaining power from animals...altogether i think this should make for a god very consistent with a pre-iron age culture (ie one who doesn't depend on weapons or armor, or books)

I look forward to hearing your decision!

I remember this recruitment from when it first started. I chimed in with some thoughts for a deity of creativity, ingenuity and inspiration. Here’s a shot at a character, set in a quasi-Golarion world. If the lore changes are too much, I'm happy to tone it down. I had even considered the possibility of making Hadran into my deity's father, though I decided I didn't want to impose on his storyline. But everything's up for modification if I get selected.

Loki, God of Ingenuity, Creativity, Inspiration, Cleverness
Chaotic Good Male Ratfolk Arcanist/Investigator/Gunslinger | Archmage/Trickster.

Loki is passionate about knowledge, magic, and technology to the point of being compulsive - like a mad scientist, only less evil. He is also crafty, and uses his cleverness and trickery to stay one step ahead of the opposition. Arcanist captures his innate power over the fabric of reality. Investigator represents his gift of sudden insight. Gunslinger is a part of his tinkering side. And Ratfolk? Chalk that up to an unfortunate accident; technology doesn't always work out as expected. But ratfolk are clever tinkerers by nature.

Backstory:
He was born, nameless, from the womb of Freya, Goddess of Love, Passion and Fertility. Though Freya had a mother’s bond with her child, she also was deeply ashamed of his origin, which began with a dark secret. Secrets beget more secrets, and in Freya’s shame, the goddess left the baby to die in the frozen wastes of the North so that the truth of her deeds would not be revealed.

But this crying baby was not helpless. For even with a frail body, he had a powerful mind that could already shape the world around him. By instinct, Loki shielded himself from the harsh elements, and willed himself to teleport to a place where he might be seen. A passing Ulfen patrol spotted him, and its leader, astounded by the boy’s apparent endurance, took him in. The boy was given the name Loki, and became another child in the Linnorm Lands.

Loki didn’t quite fit into the mold of an Ulfen, however. He shared their passion and exuberance – a gift, no doubt, from his mother. But that passion was directed toward knowledge, particularly knowledge that was fresh, exciting and new. He delighted in creation and invention, and sought to share those gifts with all who felt the same call. He built trinkets and toys, imbued with creativity and magic. He also enjoyed making mischief for those stodgy Ulfen who would mock him as a weakling.

It was only a matter of time, though, before Loki’s world would change drastically. One day, while minding his own business, Loki was kidnapped. He found himself standing before a simple masked man; yet the power exuded by this man was overwhelming. Loki felt the need to bow, in a mix of fear, terror and awe. The man revealed himself to be Norgorber, Reaper of Reputations, God of Secrets. He said that he saw “potential” in Loki, and that he would unlock that potential. Loki suspected there was more, but dared not ask.

Norgorber taught Loki to unleash the power of his divinity, and to use that divinity to find secrets. Loki was a fast learner, and for a time he quite enjoyed his newfound godhood. But the satisfaction did not endure. Loki enjoyed learning secrets, but hated keeping them. His passion was to share his knowledge with others. And the lies, betrayals and even murders needed to keep those secrets weighed on him heavily. So Loki made plans. When the time was right, he escaped. He established himself in a secret demiplane, and soon found his own place among the gods as a patron of invention and creativity, empowering the greatest minds of many races to conjure new magics and construct new devices, both to benefit the world and for the sheer joy of creation. It was a dangerous existence, for Norgorber was not ready to let Loki go. But Loki was clever, and stayed one step ahead.

In time, Loki reunited with his birth mother, Freya, and explained to the goddess who he was. Freya, full of sorrow and joy at their reunion, then told the truth that Loki had suspected all along. Loki was the son of Norgorber. The God of Secrets had blackmailed Freya into the union that led to Loki’s birth. Freya had abandoned Loki so that none might know. But she was overjoyed that Loki had survived. In time, their bond became strong.

That bond, however, became Loki’s weakness. Norgorber still knew the secret that continued to haunt Freya - a secret so large that it would destroy her. Freya, the Goddess of Love, Passion and Fertility, had long been consorting with demons of the abyss. Norgorber threatened to reveal this secret to the gods, knowing they would shun her, unless Loki returned to his side. So Loki agreed to return. But he knew that returning was a dangerous act. Before he did so, he inspired his followers to create artifacts that might hold his divine spirit, should Norgorber betray him.

Yet Loki underestimated just how vengeful Norgorber could be. Norgorber trapped Loki, weakening his divine energies with poison, and made him watch as Norgorber destroyed Loki’s mother. Norgorber told Freya that his son was dead, and then revealed Freya’s secret. The virtuous gods recoiled at Freya’s corruption and lustfulness. The Goddess of Love, now seemingly alone, descended into madness, giving herself entirely to the Abyss. Lamashtu, Mother of Monsters was born.

Loki wasn’t sure what his father’s next steps would be. Perhaps he wanted to break Loki’s spirit and force it to obedience. Perhaps he just enjoyed making Loki suffer. Perhaps he was just insane. But Loki was not eager to find out. Loki took his own life, letting his divine essence scatter to the aether. He only hoped that his plan to bring himself back to life would actually work.

Definitely want to give this one a try! I've got a concept already in my head, but I'll have to type it up tomorrow. Only a short time available to me now. Will reply again then!

@Tazo: The game is more-or-less taking place in Golarion canon (with a few small changes), and there's actually a fairly important story reason that prevents me from accepting major changes outside of those I've outlined. Toning down changes to the canon would definitely help your application.

Also, Loki's traditionally a bit more humanoid. XD A Ratfolk character might actually have a lot of trouble in this game...

Any particular reason this table is for two players and must remain this way? All other ones are single-player iirc.

Because this one was started with two characters, and I thought it would be interesting to see how two deities with different portfolios would decide to resolve situations.

Also, I can make the challenges even more ridiculous. As the player furthest along is discovering, I really wasn't kidding about "High Power" or the "High Challenge" bits.

Are you handing out soul points in this game?

Nope. For one, those got started after these began... and for two, the structure of these games makes awarding those fairly much more difficult. XD

Cool. In any case I'm going to drop out, some of the other character's have back stories much better than what I could come up with,
Good luck and have fun everybody

Name: Kan Mareena
Divine Theme: Nature, Magic, Blood, War
Followers: Druids, Barbarians, Sorcerers, Rangers, Magus, Summoners
Favored Weapon: Shotel
Holy Symbol: A bloodied leaf with deer antlers.
Build: Battle Shaman/Reincarnated Druid/Sorceror

History: WIP (Will update within a day, sorry for the lateness!)

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

(At the risk of seeming presumptuous) I know this is premature, but are you open to considering a custom built race for our mortal form? maybe like a 10 point humanoid customized to our portfolio? I only ask because if I were a god quickly assembling a mortal form for my consciousness, I would probably create something influenced by my portfolio...

@Nate: That would depend on what the points were spent on, but I'll at least consider it. Don't forget that doing this would bar you from some nice FCB's, though.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

yeah- the idea of a custom race is motivated more by story/RP than anything else, so if it costs me a cool FCB so be it...

i saw that the other player at the table is an angelkin aasimar, which is a 14 point race (i believe), so i took the liberty of building at the same point level... this is (obviously) a rough draft but if I get selected and you're more or less ok with the race, we can talk about necessary edits then :)

vessel race:

The spawn of Grond looks like a primitive human, with a strong brow and slightly hunched frame. It's skin is thick and heavy like hide and many of it's features are feral in appearance, such as claw-like fingers and an upturned, slightly canine nose. It would not be surprising for some to mistake it for a half-orc.

Standard Racial Traits
Ability Score Racial Traits: Advanced (4)- +2 Str/Dex/Con, -2 Int, +4 Wis
Size: Medium (0)
Type: Humanoid with the [Grondspawn] subtype (0)
Base Speed: Fast (1)- 40' base move; Climb (2)- 20' climb speed, +8 climb checks
Languages: Standard (0)- Common; bonus options: Aquan, Auran, Draconic, Elven, Giant, Sylvan, and Terran.

Defense Racial Traits
Natural Armor: +1 natural armor bonus (2)

Senses Racial Traits
Low-light Vision: see twice as far in dim illumination (1)
Scent: as the universal monster ability (4)

i don't think there's anything in there that should be too objectionable, and it seems (IMO at least) pretty consistent with who/what Grond was as a god...

dotting interest, will have my concept and crunch available within a few hours.

Rednal, how do you feel about the alternate racial traits for the kitsune from Everyman Gaming on the psrd?

Regardless, this is my first concept, should it be approved.

Akira:

Deity Concept: Fighter/Bard/Oracle
Domains: Revelry, Charm, Luck, Innuendo, and Repose
Followers: Bards, Rogues, Courtesans, and some Paladins. Those who have lost their way, or are without hope or happiness.
Favored Weapon: Scimitar
Holy Symbol: A flaming scimitar, with a guard fashioned as a triquetra symbol with intricate, (almost celtic) designs woven within. Nine white tails weave down from the hilt and out to form an elegant, draping bed for which the blade rests on.
Background:Born in a time when gods showed little favor for her mortal peers and indeed abandoned the First World in favor of their new project, Akira was the first one to be called Kitsune. Legends would make their way through the millennia of a nine-tailed fox spirit, with all white fur and pure white eyes who could walk on two legs like a man.
Akira honed her skills for many years, vowing to provide a better life for those who were abandoned, until she finally ascended to godhood herself. The newly born goddess carved out her private sanctum amidst the chaos, and did not hesitate to proceed with her plans for the Prime Material Plane. All the while, taking in those who became lost in the ever changing environs of her home plane and providing a safe existence with abundant revelry and enjoyment.
Her efforts on the Material Plane proved greatly effective, amassing followers at an astounding rate. She became a shining beacon for those who were lost, or without hope. Some of the other gods saw little harm in this, but there were others that saw her as a threat to their power and sought to unseat her by any means.

*Rubs chin* Glancing over them, they look reasonably balanced. ^^ Yes, I'll accept those alternate racial traits. Incidentally, do you have a picture for Akira's appearance(s)?

GM Rednal wrote:

Is that plural because the race looks more or less ok too or because there are multiple 3pp things you were looking at?

GM Rednal wrote:

I've a few images I'm considering, as her feat path will eventually lead to several appearances. Herm, lemme see. I shall have them momentarily. There is some editing to be done. I like accuracy. ^^

@Arrathion: Accuracy is indeed a wonderful thing... in many ways. XD I'm looking forward to seeing them.

@Nate: That was mostly for Arrathion's question. For yours, nothing about the Grondspawn looks too objectionable. My only note is that if you're taking an Advanced stat array for your race, you won't also be able to grab it as a Template (that would push your ability scores just a bit -too- high for this point in time.)

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

Yeah, I wasnt planning on taking any templates if the race is ok (if it wasn't I might check out the feral template or some other suitable one)

Arrathion I like the concept but you seem a little too close to Hadran. I get it, you want to be SAD, that's why I went Bloodrager/Bard/Oracle All Cha casters. So you may want to think out of the box a little more.

Nate: I like Grond, and I think the race looks good as well. I would be interested on what you seek to gain from re ascending to God hood. Do you wan't civilization to fall and go back to a time when they needed you or is there a coexistence possible in the future. Hadran had to deal and strike the blow against the great beast of destruction Rovagug so him watching you seeing how you handle things could be cool for RP, but I don't wan't any PVP or me having to stop you because some dude cuts down a tree. Please if you guys have questions ask. I would be happy to talk about Hadran.

Sukrai: look forward to seeing more.

Arrathion I like the concept but you seem a little too close to Hadran. I get it, you want to be SAD, that's why I went Bloodrager/Bard/Oracle All Cha casters. So you may want to think out of the box a little more.

The classes are flexible for my concept, and I'm prepared to shift them as necessary. However Charisma is a core element, so I'll likely remain charisma based in some way.

Here are the appearances. I'm nowhere near the best with photoshop, but I got the basics. Had trouble finding things that were to my liking to work with =/

Being Cha based is not a problem the guy that dropped out was Cha, Wis. He was Paladin/Inquisitor/Cleric the ultimate divine mix :)

Incidentally, part of the high point buy is giving you enough to do quite well in two abilities if you need that to make an idea work. ^^

Hadran's right in that your classes are a -bit- too close to his, Arrathion, so you may want to post up some other combinations that also fit your idea.

I thought ranger/warpriest/Druid was the ultimate divine mix ;)

I don't see Grond as adversarial with civilization or bent on undoing progress... He'll be leery of it at first because of its association with the 'new' gods who cast him down but eventually he'll (most likely) grow to desire to show them the value of his animalistic blessings. he's not going to try to unmake civilization, and isn't really a nature god in the sense of trying preserve or protect nature from humanoids (on the contrary, he's a god of humanoids who helped them survive against nature). I do still think there would be plenty of good RP opportunities though (but I doubt there'd be much danger of any PvP).

Ok yeah, no problem. Here are a few to start, I can come up with more with a little time. I'll include Archetypes/Templates this time to make it a bit more clear what I'm aiming for as well.

Builds:

Whirling Dervish Swashbuckler/Burglar Poisoner Rogue/Simple Advanced Template/Sorcerer (Fey)

Fighter/Scout Poisoner Rogue/Winter (Or Heavens)Oracle

Fighter/Rogue/Crossblooded Sorcerer (Arcane, Fey)

If I were to veer off the Charisma train and dabble with Intelligence.:

Scout Poisoner Rogue/Simple Advanced Template/ Bladebound Kensai Magus / Witch (Agility Patron) (This would also change my favored weapon.)

Or if I were to dabble with being more lawful.:

Paladin/Inquisitor/Simple Advanced Template/Crossblooded Sorcerer (Draconic, Orc)

Sword Saint Samurai/Simple Advanced Template/Paladin/Crossblooded Sorcerer (Draconic, Orc)

The Lawful ones seem a bit too farfetched for my original concept, but I could make sense out of it. Changing the favored weapon doesnt matter to me as much.

Let me know what you think.

I'm hesitant to go the lawful route with this character as I wouldn't be as into the whole chaotic/fey aspect of her background. But I do like the paladin builds, so I am willing to make what changes are necessary. My main thing was I wanted her to be a charmer with a thing for having a good time. My typical paladin experience with other DMs is that they can't do that. If you feel differently, however, I would be glad to play one of my paladin builds.

As a paladin, she would obviously respect legitimate authority. But her ultimate goal lies with her ascension and the greater good. I feel that there may be certain acts that could be controversial, so I was aiming to avoid that scenario. Though if her power as a paladin is coming from within, I'm sure she wouldn't make herself fall. I dunno xD Let me know what you think of these builds and we'll go from there. :)

Incidentally, you're going mythic, and there's a third-tier power that would let you be a non-lawful Paladin... the real issue is your Paladin's code, and I'm open to considering custom codes (though you will be expected to follow whatever you choose, in keeping with the theme of the class - mortals are more flexible than true deities, and you actually can fall if you betray your own ideals). This would take a few levels, though, so you'll need to either wait on going Paladin or retrain your classes later.

Alright, here's a bit of a start for her....

Name: Kan Mareena, the Horned Queen
Divine Theme: Primal Magic, Blood, War, Rebirth
Followers: Druids, Barbarians, Sorcerers, Rangers, Magus, Summoners
Favored Weapon: Shotel
Holy Symbol: A bloodied leaf with a set of antlers behind it.
Build: Battle Shaman/Reincarnated Druid/Sorceror

History:

Spoiler:
Mareena was once the Goddess of War, Blood Magic, and Rebirth during the days of tribal mortals. Her followers were the wilder humanoids that lived and fought in the forests and plains, as well the roaming tribes of barbarians that battled against one another for food, shelter, and riches. She was seen as a goddess of conquest, rather than glory however. Fighting for its own sake was wasteful and arrogant, so Mareena encouraged her followers to tend the fields where they could and raise their herds so that there is something worth fighting for during the next battle, a home and a prize. In this regard some held her to be a consort to Erastil. However, the truth was that the wild goddess was in fact something of a friendly enemy of his, for her nature of war put her at odds with his more peace-loving methods as well as her affinity with wild beasts. Yet she does not hate Old Deadeye. If anything she seemed to delight in their animosity.

To those she favored, the Horned Queen was also a hope for immortality, for while death was Phantasma's domain, Mareena would steal those souls that caught her eye and bring them to her own realm to dally for awhile, before she would send them back into the mortal world, allowing them reincarnation through her priestesses and the tribes who championed her. Of course, this merely meant that Phantasma grew to dislike her thieveing ways and sought to be rid of her meddling.

The most frightening aspect of Kan Mareena however, would be the use of blood sacrifice in many of the rituals that she holds sacred to her. These involve the drinking of blood taken from foe and friend alike at times, as well as the beasts that are hunted. It is said that the goddess granted visions to her priests and priestesses through drinking prepared droughts of the blood, giving glimpses into the memories of those whose blood was donated. This was mostly used during hunting, to gain the knowledge of where other prey would hide themselves as well as any predators in the region, but it was also used in war to predict where an enemy might be hiding their warcamp or what their plans were...

The Horned Queen was content with her position amongst the old gods, minor though she might have been amongst their kind. Yet even amongst such beings there can be jealousy and vengeance. Many of her actions went in conflict with other gods, and Mareena's more carefree approach to her supposed indiscretions meant that it was only a matter of time until she was cast down. Surprisingly, or perhaps not so, it was one who shared a similar nature that challenged the Wild Goddess to combat. Gorum was young at the time, and his impulsive and violent personality meant that a confrontation was inevitable. The Lord in Iron stomped his way into the Emerald Glade, the goddess' home, and immediately charged forth to do battle. The two warrior entities clashed again and again within the glade, and the goddess called on her attendants to distract the armored god so as to provide her the means to defeat him. Gorum's wrath at Mareena's tactics suffused him however, and while Mareena's glade guardians fought well, none could do more but buy time for the goddess to enact a single spell...

As Gorum's blade felled the last of the beastial guardians, he looked up to find the Horned Queen waiting, her blade set to strike. As he brought his sword around in an arc, the two blades met with a resounding crack that echoed throughout the heavens! Yet in the end, Mareena's blade had been that of a mortal, and not godly origin, and as such could not withstand the force of the Iron Lord's blade. Her body was cleft in two, and her blood spattered across the ground and rained down onto her followers from the heavens. As Gorum stood over her to claim victory, the Wild goddess laughed. She said to the god "You have taken your prize this day... and you are welcome to it... But one day I will come for it again... and you had best be ready...". As she died, her essence flowed not into the realm of Phantasma, as one would have thought, but instead into those touched by her blood, giving a shard, a seed of holy power to each. For it was Mareena's plan that as long as the blood of her followers flowed in the veins of the living, she would find a way to come back....

Appearance:

Spoiler:
Mareena took the appearance of a humanoid female with animalistic features. Her face is humanoid, but with a doe-like nose and wolfish fangs, and her feet were digitigraded like a wolf as well. Most impressively, a set of curved antlers rose from her head like a crown, along with wolf's ears. Various tattoos and ritual scars adorn her flesh, painted a livid red so that they showed up on her tanned skin.

She wears a set of breastplate armor made of wood, leather, and hide with brass trim and a furred cloak. Mareena's weapon is a shotel forged from living steel, which she took as her own from a tribe of followers that had impressed her with five generations of unending victories in their raiding. Her attendants were almost always in the form of some animal, half-animal, or painted shirtless barbarian. But her favorites were two ravens she called Morri and Skagli, who would visit the families of those to whom would bear the reincarnated souls of her consorts and caw at the time of their rebirth.

Beyond Morality, is a sticky kind of trap. I'd still technically have to behave as a paladin to avoid losing class levels but it is handy.

I don't think I've seen anything about this, but I was wondering how far along this campaign might lead, in levels and mythic. Is it more long-term or will it cut off at a certain point?
