shadow caller's summon exceptions and the shadow template

Rules Questions

I've been wanting to make a Fetching Shadowcaller and have a question regarding the monster substitutions for the Summon Monster class ability. The summon monster spell description says those marked with an '*' apply a template based on the caster's alignment. The shadow caller class modifies this to instead apply the shadow template to those creatures. It also modifies the monster lists to include more monsters from the shadow plane and monsters that fit the theme (like Cloaker). My question is, since none of the subs are listed with '*', do none of them get the shadow template? Was it an oversight? I checked the erratas and they don't seem to address this.

That is correct. If you look through the Summon Monster lists you'll notice that every one of the ones with '*' next to them are creatures with the "Animal" type (with the exception of the ones found in the AP's but these are meant to be exceptional), and the Shadowcaller does not add any new animals to the list, just outsiders, aberrations and such.
