Calestrains
I can spank face the peril
Would you rather game with people who never stop quoting Monty Python or Princess Bride?
Remember folks give a brief explination of why you choose what you do, otherwise you might as well pick at random, and that's borring.
For instance, no idea why zabon prefers a mid level sorcerer to a max level mind blade wielder, and no idea why petty prefers hardtack to fruitcake.

Princess Bride...I know what they are quoting better nothing is worse than being on the outside.
Would you rather ask Shelyn to make a ugly face or ask Desna to stay in one place forever?

Free the Gods. With my luck, if I did the other one it would turn out the Multiverse was supposed to be in the gem and I'd accidentally destroy reality. Again.
If you were a Monk of the Empty Hand, what would you rather do first: win at darts with a bowling ball, or beat someone senseless with a sheet of paper?
John Kretzer |
Sheet of paper - that is hardcore super-awesome.
If you were playing a game set in our world (no spell-casting classes) set on a cruise liner, which class would you choose to play as?
Rogue...best in skills (especially considering you removed the spell-casting classes).
Would you rather reject advance by Calistria or accept advances by Zon-Kuthon?
Tacticslion |
Reject advance by Calistria - I'd only be "rejecting" her once, and I'd immediately explain that by way of my obesity I'm too unattractive, I'm intimidated by her incredible beauty and sensuality, and am simply unworthy of one so perfect as she. And if she really took it poorly, I'd pray to Desna, Lymnieris, and Shelyn for protection - I am being oppressed, unwillingly propositioned, and forced into intimacy against love (which is towards my wife).
Would you rather develop a module or an AP; and would you rather it be for mythic or epic?
EDIT:
(especially considering you removed the spell-casting classes).
By the way, I was only following the rules from above. :)

Rogue with high Str. I play fighters a lot... And I've always kinda wanted to play a rogue that focused on Dirty Tricks in combat, which high Str would help.
Hrm... Would you rather find yourself transported to Golarion until you wished to return, OR have one of your characters transported to real life to hang out with you for a week?
Tacticslion |
I was going to say "Golarion!", but then I thought of all the danger, and contrasted it with all the good some of my characters could do instead. So I'm going with "one of my characters", preferably one of them that could access the super-spells, and I'd proceed to fix everything - or at least cure all diseases, heal all wounds, restore all extremities, and so on within the week he's here.
Would you rather spend a lifetime in Golarion or in another published setting (and if this one, which)?
(Presume you get nice things to do this with.)

A life in Galarion actually sounds terrifying! Do they have a Barbie RPG? Ok i know there is a Pokemon RPG I chose to go there, way safer and i ge to work with crazy cool animals!
Would you rather play in a game where sex and sexuality was completely forbidden and taboo or where all sex and sex acts where graphicly described?

Forbidden. I've never once seen it handled appropriately, except in "fade to black". I'm a happily married hetero male. I'm NOT interested in hearing other guys, or women who are not my wife, going into graphic detail about their sexual preferences and activities. It's not only not my business, it's just not something I'm interested in, and frankly, it's a sign of a phenomenally juvenile group.
If you had all the money you needed, so going to work was not an issue, and your schedule permitted otherwise, would you rather marathon a full, 16-hour day of gaming per week (with bathroom and meal breaks), or do 7 days a week of 2.25 hours each?
ZevVeli |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
16-hour gaming per week, you can make more headway that way. Most of the groups I've been in take 2.25 hours just to get through a single room (seriously at one point we spent 15 minutes of real time arguing over who was going to coup-de-gras the two unconscious mutated goblins in the cellar.)
Play in a game where all the players are aware of the common tropes of gaming, or where you are the only one who is aware of the tropes?
Tacticslion |
Mythic! I'd be a rogue [minor magic talent] with mythic archmage [dual-path heirophant] and instantly be the best caster in the game. Or, if we're doing "mythic monsters" instead of mythic paths, I'd be a creature with shape changing ability and the agile mythic template.
Would you rather run a single player game or play one?

I have run a single player campaign and played in one. I preferred playing but that is usually cause I GM for my group and it is rare for me to actually just play.
Would you rather be a successful person in this world or Golarion,
Tacticslion |
Here are a few of the favorited posts I made in that thread.
Ultimately, it's up to the GM and how they choose to read the ability. I choose to read it the way that allows the most (and most interesting) character options.
The drawback with most is the caster level and DCs, as mentioned above. The rogue minor magic talent, however, grants both a caster level (equal to the rogue's level) and a casting stat (though this one is more subject to GM fiat because the talent exclusively specifies "this spell" - i.e. the one you gain as a spell-like ability; which is totally fine), meaning that I suddenly have access to exceedingly powerful magic by expending mythic points. As a swift action, no less (at least if arcane). You can also do this with monk, which is really nice - suddenly the two most universally acknowledge weakest classes become two of the strongest classes. Nice bit of irony.
Ultimately it's an exploit, but one that I'd find it in me to allow as a GM, hence would be excited to do so as a player.

** spoiler omitted **
this world i have too many plots set in motion. Joking. But really this world then maybe i could work for piazo and shape golarion.
Would you rather play in an all boys group or an all girl group, no side groups allowed.

Uh, I'd kind of have to be in an all-boys group by default? So, uh... boys group. Though I'd miss my wife.
(Or could I be the one exception, in which case it'd be an "all girls (except for me)" group.)
Would you rather be a slave in Cheliax or Qudira?
Qadira. They don't worship the devil, and I might find a master that gives me wishes.
EEEEEEEEDIT:
Would you rather adventure with a ratfolk as a catfolk or as a dhampir with a party full of LG divine casters? (paladins, clerics, warpriests, oracles)
Catfolk! I'd be super-protective of my ugly little buddy!
/EDITWould you rather be indebted to a devil or an ifreet?
Zaboom! |
Giants. I'd play an Ettin and argue with myself, much to everyone else's mirth and much to own waning sanity. Again.
Okay, this one kinda came up in our Friday game... When making a character above first level (in this case it was fifth), would you rather purchase a bag of holding and a bunch of misc kits/equipment OR purchase a bag of holding and 700 trampolines!

Ooh, tough one.
I'd go with perfect game group, you can always modify the game to suit you needs, but people usually object to being modified on themselves
Would you rather play a game where you start as 21st level gestalt characters, who have five mythic ranks and a single divine rank, but the game is almost entirely devoted to divine politics, and the party are just demigods
Or would you rather have a game where you start as level one characters each with the celestially blessed or half celestial templates, and the game is basically your party invading hell.

"Abomiated?" At first, I'm assuming that's a horrid misspelling of Dominated, but the 'into' doesn't flow from that.
So, clarification needed before I can answer.
EDIT: Ahh, Witch Hex. Let me look that up.
Abominate? I am the worst speller.
It's basically baleful polymorph, but with aberrations.
Lord Foul II |
Effect: The witch transforms a creature within 30 feet into an aberration. This hex acts as baleful polymorph, except the target is transmuted into a Small, Medium, or Large aberration. The target's abilities are modified as monstrous physique IV. Whether or not its save is successful, a creature cannot be the target of this hex again for 1 day.
Hmm, naga.
naga are cool.
Would you rather have one level in every class or ten levels in one class of your choice.
Trigger Loaded |
Anyways, my answer would be Aboleth, assuming I'm not miles away from a flowing water source. Would be cool to explore the deepest oceans.
If you're talking in Golarian, however, probably a Naga. Those aren't on most people's 'kill on sight' radar.
Would you rather have one level in every class or ten levels in one class of your choice.
Both Real life and Golarian, ten levels in one class. In Golarian, diversity like that is crippling, and tenth level you're pretty impressive.
In the real world, ten levels of any spellcaster class will give you some pretty awesome abilities. And still make you stronger than any mortal who has ever lived.
Would you rather game with a group that actively backstabs and betrays fellow players, mocking you after you fail, (And no, the game isn't Paranoia) or a gaming group consisting of people that don't take to the concept of personal hygiene?
Lord Foul II |
The first group, so long as we were play of an evil game or some other game scenario where that could be role played. Otherwise second group so long as I had a computer between us it wouldn't be so bad.
Would you rather have the constitution score of a terresque IRL, or all the abilities of a quickling IRL

If it's a well-made evil campaign, maybe the first. Second, otherwise. My nose died ages ago.
Would you rather...
Have to play the world's slowest table game, or the world's most inconstant play by post, having to interrupt whatever you were doing whenever a post actually happened.
Tacticslion |
The other sounds dull.
Boo!
Would you rather have one level in every class or ten levels in one class of your choice.
Ten levels! It would be in some sort of caster class (unless I could get a mythic tier or two in which case I'd choose rogue).
Unless by "every class" you actually mean "every class" including the prestige classes (regardless of qualifying for them or not), in which case I'd hecka take that option - I'd put all the spellcasting I could into one of my arcane classes (probably eldritch godling), and anything else into divine classes and be pretty good to go. I'd also be level 124 before getting into 3rd-party classes. And I'd have psionics! Yes, I'd definitely take that option.
EDIT: dang edits and ninjas!

The world's slowest game. I'd have plenty of free time to go get snacks and other things and we'd only meet once every two years anyway (because, as you say, it's the world's slowest).
Would you rather have a template or play as a monstrous race?
Zaboom! |

Monster race! Templates are fun and all, but playing monsters leaves so much possibility open!
Would you rather play a campaign where everyone writes an elaborate background and the GM uses things from those backgrounds (family problems, old enemies, etc.) exclusively to stitch a plot together; OR play in an elaborate and well written plot with awesome villains and NPC's that has nothing specific to do with your character?

The second one, beucase I suck at writing.
Would you rather, if it had no effect on the perceptions of others or your alignment, be a half-celestial or half fiend?

Reckless wrote:Would you rather play the Skull & Shackles AP with a paladin, or Council of Thieves with a non-urban druid? This one is fun; I'd go with Paladin in Skull and Shackles, because I believe it can be done without losing your powers.
Paladin Code:
A paladin must be of lawful good alignment and loses all class features except proficiencies if she ever willingly commits an evil act.Additionally, a paladin's code requires that she respect legitimate authority, act with honor (not lying, not cheating, not using poison, and so forth), help those in need (provided they do not use the help for evil or chaotic ends), and punish those who harm or threaten innocents.
Associates: While she may adventure with good or neutral allies, a paladin avoids working with evil characters or with anyone who consistently offends her moral code. Under exceptional circumstances, a paladin can ally with evil associates, but only to defeat what she believes to be a greater evil. A paladin should seek an atonement spell periodically during such an unusual alliance, and should end the alliance immediately should she feel it is doing more harm than good. A paladin may accept only henchmen, followers, or cohorts who are lawful good.
I would have to be a high idealist; but a generous pirate who recognizes that the legitimate law of the shackles, is piracy.
I imagine a gentleman pirate who hunts his fellow pirates, recruiting from their ranks those who can be redeemed. Where difficulties arise is when pirates who are recognized as legitimate authority figures harass you. At this point, the paladin may be forced to roll over, or else invalidate their legitimacy
