Does the shipping start once everyone's order is authorised?

Just checking one thing -- non-mint discount isn't supposed to stack with Pathfinder Advantage, right? Since I'm not getting the Advantage on a non-mint I purchased. I normally wouldn't ask, but since it was mentioned that there have been some glitches with Advantage being granted.


Has the Iron Gods map folio also been delayed? I've just checked my auth email, and it's not listed on it (which is awesome for me, as I only wanted the Belkzan book), but I can't see where it is on my upcoming subs page so that I know when I need to cancel the campaign setting subscription for a month to avoid it.

I keep forgetting the annoying time zone difference. I live in New Zealand so although it's 11pm Monday evening here (and of course, the 12th), it's about 5am Monday morning on the west coast of the US. And earlier on today I was wondering if the shipping should be starting when it was in fact Sunday afternoon for the Paizo staff. A bit unreasonable of me to be expecting them to be working Sunday afternoon..

I just updated the dates. Since I am still running the auth (it crashed friday night and I wasn't able to get back in over the weekend to restart it) and we are waiting to have the shipping or PF Advantage discounts fixed on earlier orders the warehouse is holding off on starting to ship orders with sub stuff until tomorrow.

Auth run/ order spawning is all wrapped up. If you do not have a confirmation email for January and you were expecting one, check your order history . If you don't have a subscription order please let me know by email or by starting a new thread.

I will let you know when we start and finish the process to correct the issues with the undiscounted prices and shipping costs that affected some subscribers this month.

Tech team has given me an ETA of about 40 minutes for their process to correct orders. I'll take some time after that to verify/spot check and then let the warehouse know they can begin shipping.


Got my corrected invoice only thing a little amiss I noticed is that the Payment section of the email still says the incorrect price (but the Order Section is now correct).

If your order is amongst those that are getting updated you should be getting a new confirmation email with the following text:

Subject: Paizo Order #XXXXXXXX
Dear [Your Name],

Thank you for your ongoing subscription with paizo.com! When we generated your January subscription order we discovered we did not properly calculate your [shipping cost &/or Pathfinder Advantage Discount]. We have adjusted your order and included a confirmation email for your reference.

If you do not get this email after I let this thread know that the process has finished running and you believe your shipping is incorrect, please let me know via a new thread or by email.


I got that, and the Order details is fixed but I noticed that the payment section still has the old in error amount.

The Payment section shows the interactions we've had either with your payment method or with store credit balance. Those numbers will not change since it is showing a transaction history. When we initially spawn orders we also authorize your payment method. When the order is settled, you will see indicated on your order history page a settled charge.

More Information About Authorizations Than Most People Want To Know, But That Some Customers May Find Useful:
An authorization is not a charge/payment. It is a transaction that basically checks to make sure the information entered is correct and that there are funds available for when we ship and settle the charge. Doing this ahead of time alerts customers if there is a problem (low balance, expired card, etc) which they can then correct, ideally before we begin shipping, so that their order doesn't get delayed. An authorization also lets your financial institution know that we are expecting to settle a transaction. Most banks will place a hold on these funds so that they cannot accidentally be used elsewhere while the order is pending with us. Authorizations that are not settled will eventually expire (timeframe dependent on specific financial institution's individual policies).
If an order total changes between the time we authorize and the time that we ship an order and settle it, most financial institutions will be fine with settling against a larger auth and releasing any held funds over the amount of the settled charge. If an auth is smaller than the new total (like when someone adds an item last minute) most financial institutions will merely create a second auth in the amount that is still needed and be fine settling one charge against two auths.
Some financial institutions will only settle against auths in the exact amount as the final charge. I have noticed this happens more frequently with international orders than US orders. Additionally, some financial institutions have a longer or shorter expiration window for authorizations than we do. If an auth expires on our end before the auth expires on the payment method, we would have to create a new transaction to authorize and/or settle. These types of situations mean that potentially multiple auths and/or a settled charge could be placed on the payment method, even though there is already an active authorization.These situations usually resolve themselves and are rare enough that it doesn't come up often. However, if having more than one transaction is enough to dip below the payment method's balance, it could result in a payment method failure until the first authorization expires. We do have a mechanism to request reversals on authorizations, so if anyone does have this issue, just let customer service know and we can see if we can speed up the expiration process.

Correct. Non-mint in most cases I think is around 20% or so and thus higher than the 15% from the PF Advantage and we give you whichever one is higher. Generally the only thing that will stack with the PF Advantage is the holiday codes.

So do subscribers get their PDFs when the orders actually ship or when labels are printed?


Hi Sara.

It's no big deal, but I just noticed Belkzen, Firesoul and Daughters of Fury sitting in my sidecart as subscription copies. There's a button saying I can ship them now, rather than waiting, which is presumably nonsense.

Does that seem odd? I don't remember future subscriptions sitting in the sidecart.

Based on what I have seen watching my item tracking and such, I suspect that pdfs become available when the shipping label is printed. I can not say this as absolute fact, however.

PDFs become available when the label is printed. For subscriptions there are two types of orders, ones that go through a batch printing process (ie there are enough orders exactly like theirs that we can do them in batches assembly line style) and regular packing slip style where the label is printed after the order has been packaged.

If your order goes through the batch printing process you get an email that is like "expected to ship by January 23rd" which is the end of our estimate for shipping this months subscription orders. Very likely everything will have gone out before that date since this is a relatively light month. We set the two week shipping window to allow for plenty of time if an issue comes up.

When you signed back up for subs it was the starting item so it spawned a physical copy and then it got bumped to February so it stayed in your side cart.

The ship it now button will pull all the items out into a order preview. You hit submit and the ones that aren't actually ready go back to your sidecart. That's not spelled out anywhere so its very confusing.

Ah, I see. I didn't realise that commencing a subscription actually spawns the first order.
