Pummeling Spirited Charge

Right, but if you butterfly sting into the pummeling charge it's guaranteed to be a crit. And since you're getting a full attacks worth of damage for the one hit, critting on it is the most effective thing you can do.

If you have a 2x crit and hit with 2 attacks on the pummel, it's as if you made 1 attack at 4x. So if you hit with more than that you've reached a multiplier that can't be matched by anything else.

Butterfly's Sting just got better.

Sadly criticals don't multiply the whole pile of damage by 2, it just adds one to the ongoing stack of multipliers.

It's why a Litany of Righteousness + Spirited Charge with a lance crit is only going to do x5 damage ( x3 for spirited charge, + x1 for the crit, + x1 for the Litany)

You can't use a lance with Pummeling Style anyway, though it is unclear if Spirited Charge adds its multiplier to the first attack in your full attack action or the entire thing (Pummeling Style technically hits once, but you still make multiple rolls). I'm inclined to say it only applies to the first, personally.

Anyway, thanks to Pummeling Style, every attack that hits becomes a critical hit when combined with Butterfly Sting. Monks and Brawlers can get a ridiculous amount of crits off of this.

Also you added the crit multipliers wrong - it would be x3 for Spirited Charge + x2 Lance + x1 Litany for a total of x6 damage (Lances have a x3 crit mod).

Something similar to Pummeling Style/Spirited Charge/Butterfly's Sting is Pummeling Style/Spirited Charge/Feral Combat Training/Boar's Charge.

Here's a concept based around that.

You know, I was trying to figure out what you all were talking about with butterfly's string and making the atatck better and I kept thinking that the feat wasn't of much use to the pummeling charging because if he crits, why would he need to grant himself a crit later on.

Then it finally occured to me you all are talking about someone else using butterfly sting to pass a crit to the pummeling charger. When then, with the current rules, makes the whole thing a crit. Which does yield crazy damage.

Damn does this feat need to be re-written. Pummeling doesn't even mesh up with the idea of a single punch. A pummeling is usually many small punches. Pummeling Strike should really just work like Clustered Shot for punches, allowing you to tally the damage as a single attack but each being effectively independent. With Pummeling charge just enabling you to make a full attack while using Pummeling Style at the end of a charge.

That just means a certain evil outsider at the end of "Where Mammoths Dare Not Tread" would have gotten over 160 points of damage, not just over 130, from my halfling paladin.

Darn.
