Is anyone else making their own scenarios with custom scenarios?

Homebrew and House Rules

If so, I would sure like to see them.
I am feeling lonely out here.

I think the lack of interest in homebrew adventures\scenarios is in part due to the fact that Paizo is so dang prolific. Do any of you anticipate a surge of interest in fan-made content?

My apologies for double posting this. I don't know how I did that.

I've really been meaning to convert We Be Goblins! into the card game, complete with playable versions of Mogmurch, Poog, and the rest of the gang. Unfortunately, work and school has kept me really busy lately. I used to tinker with homebrew content (mostly for Pathfinder RPG) during my free time at work, but now I'm usually using that time for school assignments.

I still want to work on it and get it done eventually, especially since Damiel is out now to make it a bit easier to make Mogmurch. Skull & Shackles also seems a bit more fitting than Runelords for the module as far as flavor goes. Hopefully I can finish it someday.

But yeah, I think one of the main reasons for the lack of homebrew activity is that there is a lot of official content available now. Skull & Shackles is out and its adventures are being released monthly. In addition to that, OP scenarios are being released weekly with adventure compilations monthly. The difficulty of both of these is increased compared to Runelords, raising replay value (there are currently 4, about to be 5, OP scenarios that my group hasn't even had a chance to attempt yet because we've had to replay so many scenarios). You also have the Class Decks now which increases character variety, lowering the need for homebrew characters.

Since this official content is being released so consistently, I'm not sure if we'll see a surge of homebrew content any time soon. Before you know it, when people start to settle down and get used to the content that is out, Wrath will be coming out and likely with a new set of Class Decks, starting the process all over again.... I think this is kind of a nice problem to have.

Yeah. I enjoyed making the couple of characters and the scenarios that I did. But there is just so much official stuff to play, I don't have the time to spend on homebrew stuff. I haven't even played any of the organized play scenarios.

What might be a fun project would be to get a group to design an adventure (or even an adventure path). One person could be the "editor" and sketch out the story of the adventure or adventure path, who the villains are in each scenario, where the story generally takes place, big picture stuff. Then find some others to divide up the work of making the scenarios. Then the editor makes some tweaks if needed to make it all work together.

And make it so both RotR and S&S cards are available for locations and stuff. That would be neat to see. A real community project.

Awesome! Where's the signup list?

I would be up for a scenario design or two. Like most others, a full adventure is beyond my time resources at the moment, but I would enjoy a shared world adventure/ adventure path creative endeavor.

I have written about 50 pages (single-spaced) for the adventure path I am working on.
It's become quite a beast.

My process is to first sketch out a story arc, in the same way you would a screenplay or novel.
Then I outline the scenarios, rewards, and special rules, then break those into new locations. I generally end the scenarios with official boxset locations, so that 3-4 player games get to experience all the new content.

I am caretaking a sick person in my family right now, so I have a lot of off time to work on creative projects. If anybody is interested in doing anything for it, from rewriting\editing flavor text to scenario design, monsters, illustrations (that would be friggin amazing), I am very open.

I've outlined all the new locations and scenario rules for the 6-scenario second adventure, and it's kinda crazy.

I agree that homebrew is likely neglected because of Paizo releasing so much stuff. Perhaps in that 1-2 month lull after A6 in S&S is released, before wrath of the righteous, people might be looking for some use out of their old boxes. Hopefully that will be the beginning of a real homebrew community on here.

This is of course true, but there's going to be people who want to maximize their investments, won't there be? If you dropped $100 on two boxes, plus another $200 on adventures, wouldn't you want to keep using those boxes instead of waiting for the next one? I really don't want to throw away ROTR, I like it. It's useful. The cards still have a lot of life left in them.

I´m working on converting the Carrion Crown adventure path for the cardgame. I was just wondering how Paizo felt about publishing homebrewed cards on here as I certainly wouldn´t want to step on anyone´s toes (or have my toes stepped on by Paizo).

Is there any official word on this?

As long as everything you're using is in the public usage and public domain, then you might try putting your stuff up on BoardGameGeek and link it here.

An old thread of mine may be useful reading for you as I asked some specific questions about converting an official Pathfinder product into the card game. The short end of it is that as long as the product appears on this list and as long as it complies with the Community Use Policy you are okay to use locations, names, artwork, etc. from them. One key parts of the Community Use Policy is to not explicitly adapt the storylines of the products, so basically just don't have any "flavor text" on the cards. Have mechanics only. Since I was planning on doing We Be Goblins which is a free PDF, I would likely tell people to read certain parts of the PDF instead of having any flavor text.

One strange thing about Carrion Crown though is that Adventures 3, 5, and 6 are the only parts of the Adventure Path that is part of the list. I don't know if that's intentional or if they other three parts just got accidentally deleted like the first We Be Goblins module did for a little while.

Yes, as I recall from reading the use policy like 20 billion times because I was terrified of breaking the rules, you can't take any of the official writing, with the exception of names and locations and the employment of Paizo's card products. My adventure path focuses mainly on the area between Mediogalti and a non-canon city of refugees called "The Republic of Etria." There's a little bit of Shackles in there but mainly I chose a place that probably won't make it into an official product any time soon. I hope.

Just got permission from a couple amazing artists on Deviantart to use some of their work. Original art oooh yeah!

I made one scenario as a post-Runelords adventure for my girlfriend's birthday. Since then, we've discussed converting it into a part of a full-blown AP. We've done a lot of the initial design for it, but it's still really early on.

Also, as we get closer to the release of WotR, I'm going to be designing a set of characters based on the party we brought to that adventure, so they can be the first group we run for that. I'm hoping to start that up in earnest early next year.

In the meantime, I will try to provide feedback on anything that gets posted here, but I'm not going to have anything myself for a little while at least.

isaic16, anything that is a post-RotR adventure would get a lot of interest, I think. Folks are always asking "what can I do now that I've won the AP?"

I've also been working on a Carrion Crown conversion! We should trade notes sometime. :)

Right here if you're interested. I've only tested it once, but it's perfectly functional. Power gamers will probably find it way too easy, but it gave us plenty of fun.

I started on a We Be Goblins! (and Too!) conversion using the pregens and a couple extras.

I suspect that deck 6 of S & S will be a good challenge for the post deck 6 Rotr characters ...
