Is it a Cha based skill?

If I have a trait that lets me use my Intelligence instead of my Charisma for a skill, does that skill still get a bonus form things like Circlet of Persuasion?

It's no longer a charisma-based check, so I think not.

That brings up a related question about changing skills so that they are no longer Str/Dex based and armor check penalties. Anyone know if there's been a ruling on that?

I'm not sure one is needed. If you aren't using your (X) bonus as part of the check, then it is logically no longer an (X)-based check.

Armour Check Penalties are on specific skills, noted under the skills descriptions. Changing the stat won't remove ACP.

But then again, the rules on armor check penalties say that they apply to Str/Dex based skills. It's hard to determine RAI, because those rules were written at a time when you couldn't really switch out what ability a skill was dependent on.

Any armor heavier than leather, as well as any shield, hurts a character's ability to use Dex- and Str-based skills. An armor check penalty applies to all Dex- and Strength-based skill checks. A character's encumbrance may also incur an armor check penalty.

Hmm, so is it all skills with the ACP notation or all Dex based and all Str based skills?

FAQ maybe? Would hopefully answer the INT instead of CHA question too.

Yeah, this seems like it might be FAQ worthy.
