I am curious whether there was any consideration (or desire there for) to track the pre-change factions vs. current factions. Currently, my characters are showing old credit as Exchange prestige earned, rather than the Qadira prestige earned; same for Dark Archives vs. Cheliax, Osirion and Scarab Sages, etc.
Or more to the point, there seem to be players (such as myself) that think, for example, that the Dark Archives have a different goal than Cheliax did, and so was there any value in tracking prestige earned for the old factions vs. their new counterparts, to see how players migrate to the new factions' objectives in comparison to the old counterparts' objectives.

The old faction symbols are no longer a legal choice for characters in Pathfinder Society Organized Play. At this time, we have no plans to put them back in as selectable options.
Only the coolest factions get to retain their symbols when they get retired.

And for non-PFS avatars? Some of us had those icons months or years before ever having a PFS character.
Or for that matter retired characters, or characters better retired than join any of the current ones? They've been stripped of their history, needlessly.
It's not so much that the factions retired, but more that they evolved.
That is a matter of opinion.

That's a question for IT. Feel free to post in the website feedback forum.

My first thought when people started asking for the old symbols was this.
I think the question of tracking prestige separate for old and new factions is an interesting one though.

Shadow Lodge got to keep their symbol (on the forums), no reason the rest of the retired factions should be forced to change.
It's not a retirement, it's a refocusing of mission which it turn sometimes causes a change in artifacts such as the name and/or symbol to reflect the new mission or ideals.
For example, the Osirion faction has not gone away, the previous faction leader has simply taken a back seat to the new Diamond Sage as they now focus on rebuilding the Jeweled Sages instead of curing the Ruby Prince. Hence the new name of Scarab Sages and the gem added to their symbol.

I understand why the change was made, and as a global issue I approve.
But the crossed scimitars of Taldor was a classy sigil. I still wear the t-shirt with pride. But I don't think I would wear a shirt with a money-bag and a merchant's scale.
EDIT: Sigh. Qadira. (I had nothing against the Taldor sigil, either, except it looked like a fast-food restaurant sign.)

Don't you mean the crossed scimitars of Qadira? Or was there a war so swift I didn't notice it?
