Slick Human Kineticist (Water) (my character)
Nagaji Medium (Bear)
Halfling Spritualist (Anger)
Human Kineticist (Aether)
Elven Psychic (Tranquility)
My hydrokineticist had moderate stats Str 10 Dex 17 Con 16 Int 10 Wis 13 Ch 10. Perception +5, Stealth +7, Profession(Brewer) +5.
Traits: Reactionary (+2 init) Indomitable Faith (+1 will saves)
Feats: Point-blank shot, Precise Shot.
Unfortunately his skill set did not make a difference in any of the 9 encounters, save one when he found a hidden passage.
The Psychic with carried us through the various skill challenges. The Medium and the Spiritualist provided most of the damage dealing ability. The Psychic also changed course of the boss fight with a well-placed Color Spray.
The crowning moment for the medium was self-enlarging before engaging the boss. The Psychic stunned the boss with a Color Spray, and the Spiritualist got into flanking position with herself and her phantom.
The Spiritualist made good use of her pet's ability to go incorporeal to solid and back again to help bypass some obstacles.
My Kineticist used Slick on several occasions, but did not have much success. Out of 6 targets, only 2 actually fell. And given the choke point battlefield situation the party was unable to capitalize on it. In other encounters the enemy monsters were immune to the grease effect, or he was one-shotted out of the combat before being able to act.
In addition, both kineticists found themselves unable to deal with mobs with special defenses and were forced to throw gold pieces at the targets instead. Not a unique circumstance, but unsatisfying.
Out of combat the Aether Kineticist got decent use of his healing ability though he got close to maxing out his burn. In combat he experienced some difficulty hitting due to targeting normal AC. Unlike my character he had combat optimized stats.
We came across some divine and arcane scrolls...which none of the psychic classes were able to use. Expect this to be a common occurrence in most campaigns and modules.
The pair of Kineticists bonded through mutual commiseration. We were left keenly feeling a lack of significant contribution both in combat and out. The skill point penalty definitely made a difference. Still we both want to keep playing this class up and see how they develop.

Max the telekinetic here.
Just backing up everything that has been said. The flavor of the class is great but even though I set up a build that tried to go for extremes I didnt contribute much apart from healing. lack of skills and cool toys from the get go means I´m going to try this class at a higher level before making any judgements. But lv 1, with so few class skills and 2 "spells" with no scroll or wand access it felt a bit lacking.
It comes down to a feeling of saying cool every time someone else showed off a class ability whilst me an Slick said yeah.. we can blast stuff..
Perhaps Slick can add to how the accursed halls went, where i´m afriad I have no playtest feedback as I decided an all ranged party might face trouble and brought a different character . I will say I found that more fun, as my barbarian had twice the skills and brought far more to the party .
