THF vs. S&B on a rogue? (2010 called, and wants its advice question back)

Advice

So, I've got a choice, and all my feats are picked out already.

I'm playing a half-orc slayer 2/rogue X (eventually). Right now I'm just 1 and 1

Should I go with my trusty greataxe? Or would a sword-and-buckler combination contribute enough AC to matter?

Another question might be (because this is PFS): Are there two really good +1 armor enhancements that would be worth saving the difference between putting them both on the same armor?

Why not use a heavy bashing spiked shield and do both?

Well you aren't a spellcasting class but Spellstoring on the armor and Fortification on the shield is a pretty good deal.

dead enemies deal 100% reduced dpr. Go greataxe.

I know it's fluffy, but I have a hard time imagining how someone would deal precision damage with a shield. A shield is like the opposite of 'precision'.

With enough spikes on it, the shield targets all of the vital organs?

Eh, two-handed bashing with a heavy shield crosses the "that's just silly" line for me. I mean, it's already strapped to an arm, are you unstrapping it so you can swing it with both hands like a frying pan?

I suppose it legal by RAW, but still silly.

I'd suggest starting with the greataxe, but keeping a ____ & board handy. You might even transition from one to the other as your gear improves.

The buckler gives you -1 to attack rolls while swinging whatever your other weapon is two-handed, so keep that in mind.

Heavy Shields don't have to be strapped to your arm, and traditionally were not. Look at the big viking rounds or a roman scutum. Just because the heaters preferred by the normans were strapped, doesn't mean all are.

I think I'll stick with the axe. something + plus buckler is very tempting, but it's not a sure thing.
