More Southlands goodness! Bee sure to check out our Interview with Southlands Cartographer Anna Meyer!
I'm curious to see when the first reviews for Southands will start popping up! Of course, the book is pretty huge, so it'll take a while just for folks to read it :)

I can confirm that the first Southlands packages are in the mail. There's quite a few still left to put together, of course, but it's a start!
Bestiary PDF is.... Well, it gorgeous. And the development work by Jason Nelson of Legendary Games really helps these monsters shine, as well.
From what I heard at Gen Con, some of these monsters will appear in the upcoming Legendary Planet adventure path, at least in installments by Legendary Games designer Mike Shel.

Ha! I was just going to say that! :)
Shadows of the Dusk Queen - 5 stars + seal of approval!
In all seriousness, though, I've alerted the Kobold Shipping and Fulfillment Department and I suspect End will have the download links in question before you can say 'Tosculi Hivemaster'!

I picked up the Southlands Campaign Setting and Bestiary at Gen Con while visiting the booth shared with the Legendary folks, partly due to the salesmanship of Mike Shel.
So far I have only glanced thru the Setting, and looked slightly more in-depth at the Bestiary, but OMG what a pair of beautiful books. And those maps!!
I run many Pathfinder AP's, and don't really have time to sink wholesale into another setting (especially after adding Legendary Planet). However, I see many ideas in these books that could be used in Mummy's Mask, Serpent's Skull, Skull & Shackletons, or a homebrew campaign. And I see many creatures in the Bestiary that a GM/writer could use as an exotic import to more northern climes.
I look forward to getting further into these books and posting a review.

Hey Thilo, we have been handling the inevitable missing PDFs over on Kobold site and Kickstarter, but if you prefer the files via Paizo, I can make that happen!
Request has gone in, and you should have Southlands files via Paizo later today.
Scribbling Rambler, I look forward to your comments and review as well!

Yes the Bestiary is grogeous: both the layout and the art! The Azza Gremlin I designed for it looks EXACTLY as I imagined.
I must find the artist and thank him. :^ )

Hardcover came. It's gorgeous!
Awesome! I haven't received mine yet, alas, but that's great to hear!!!
I'm anxious to hear from folks who got the Southlands dice

Received my books in good condition - the hardcover has dented edges, but I can live with that.
Same here, but the shrinkwrap appeared unaffected in that corner. I'm assuming this was something probably early on from the printers and not an issue with shipping, but something that bypassed Q&A the printers did to clear the books. Either way, not noticeable during flipping through the book.

Well, if the books arrived in Denmark already, they should be here in Germany some time soon as well. Now I´m getting impatient...
FWIW, the books took a full week to get out the door. So the first ones will, necessarily, arrive at least a week before the last.
If backer books have not arrived by the 31st, definitely let me know and we'll track them down.

Thanks for the notice, Wolfgang. I´ll see if the books arrive until Sept 1st and let you know. Its not that urgent, really - my current runelords campaign is up and running, and another game is not in sight anywhere. To be honest, I just love the books you are developing and/or writing, ever since Six Arabian Nights or even the Al-Qadim stuff, one of my favorite D&D settings ever.

Just arrived five minutes ago! Sadly, the main book has some transport damage (corners dented, upper front edge dented), but otherwise, it just looks gorgeous. The faux red leather and the gilt edging let that book stand out very much. The other two books are fine. Probably the dice and the coin did press in too much, and may have caused the damage to the upper front edge. But still, the damage is not too serious.

I asked my group today what they wanted to play and gave them the choice of Hell's Rebels, a Southland's campaign or Pirate campaign.
And it looks like they want to do a mash up of piracy and southlands. And they liked the idea of rebellion. And Kingdom building. Damn them.
So my current idea is to base them in Mhamet and use a combination of Freeport and Port Peril to fill it out. Changing as needed to make it more Corsair Coast and Free Islands of Tethys-y. I'll add in Razor's Coast too using one of the cities of the Spice Coast for it, size wise Kerala is close.
I'm going to make it quite sandboxy and I imagine they'll want to sail up the coast to places like the Sultanate of Shibai to sell plunder and possibly doing some more plundering!
I haven't got a clue what I'm going to add to it other than Razor Coast, and some Freeport right now. I've got three A4 pages of adventures written down that *could* fit.
Haven't been this excited for a game in a while so thank you!

I was actually thinking this myself-- that Razor Coast could fit in perfectly to fill out part of the Spice Coast and the Free Islands of Tethys. Shibai and Mhalmet would both suit those purposes wonderfully. I see Mhalmet as more Arabian than Freeport. I would put your Freeport analog in Ishadia, and I believe there's a coastal city there which has a criminal reputation, but I'm not near my book to confirm the name.

You're very welcome! I'd also offer that you can likely loot the Skull & Shackles sourcebook and part of the AP set there. There are a couple of PFS adventures set in the Mwangi Expanse, they could be repurposed for the Southlands.
There is Spears of the Dawn, a Pathfinder compatible 3PP sourcebook, which also has some good story seeds for that kind of environment to compliment what's in Southlands.
If you're doing a lot in the more Arabian-esque portions (Mhalmet, Siwal, through there), I would strongly recommend picking up Tales of the Caliphate Nights, because it's such a huge, wonderful reference for that kind of culture.
Good luck! I really hope you keep us appraised of how it turns out!

Where are the Zinjs? On the map there are 7 of them and only one (Zinj Iram) corresponds to the 5 names of the Zinjs listed.
Yes, I think they were changed on the map-- they do not correspond to the ones listed on page 182. You can correlate them based on geographic location, and I'll note the incongruency to Wolfgang. I would have the extra Zinjs either be ones you create yourself, or ones ruled by the beys listed on 182. Honestly, the extra Zinjs are good to have, because they give you some room to customize, but the names should match.
As long as I was digging, I found this in the Midgard Campaign Setting (where there was a shorter section on Ishadia):
Sequra, the White Haven
“Sequrans bleed white” is a local saying. Sequra’s streets and walls are perpetually repainted a stark uniform white, covering up evidence of innumerable crimes and violence. Despite its tidy appearance, Sequra is a den of sin, and corruption is unspoken custom. In the relatively safety of the mouth of the Arandis, foreign traders, White Sea pirates, and local guilds that are little more than fronts for criminal orders mingle openly and freely.
Based on that description, that's why I'd make it your Freeport, with a name change.
-Ben.

I used the link but can find no playlist. I had to open an account.
@Silverhair2008 - The playlist is on Spotify, so yes, in order to listen you have to open an account. But the accounts are free and unobtrusive. I hope that didn't cause you any trouble.
Were you able to listen to the playlist?

![]() |

What playlist? How do I find the songs you set aside. I put Southlands into the search and find a lot of mixed up music.
Sorry you're having trouble. Try using the link above. It contains about 12 pieces from various artists. Otherwise, you should be able to find the playlist by looking in SPOTIFY under "Southlands" and my name.
Please let me know if you find it.

For the Corsair Coast/Freeport mashup, Sequra is perfect.
If you want more nautical adventures and islands, I'd say grab a copy of Zeb Cook's Golden Voyages from Al-Qadim for inspiration and some adventure seeds. And maybe get a copy of Journeys to the West (which is about the other side of the Southlands, really, but you can move islands pretty easily).
And maybe Bosun's Booty as well. Carnivorous ships and salt mice, ahoy!

Oh! I have Pirates of the Western Ocean, I didn't realise there was a Journeys to the West book too, and I'll definitely pick up Bosun's Booty.
Journeys to the West is about the Western Ocean, on the west side of the Southlands, and perhaps a bit north of it, but it's a big space and we didn't place a number of those islands on the map on purpose (because they're supposed to wander around), but it's got adventures you can play with as well, and more pirate crews, islands, etc.

You bet! For example Curse of Mata Api is a great 2nd level Midgard adventure on a forbidden island in the Western Ocean.
Huzzah!
