Elemental Body XX (mostly Druid Wild Shape) with Alternate elemental types

Rules Questions

Are we expecting an errata on this? I know they have been inserted into the Summon Monster XX lists, but they have not been officially entered into the Elemental Body XX lists.

Link please?

I think you might have the wrong forum, this is for discussing society play. Spell errata would not come from the society developers.

(For PFS as Im aware the other elemenatals are not in fact legal. OP probably just means that since summon monster doesnt specify in non-pfs games youd be able to pick whichever elemental, whereas elemental body specifically lists choosable forms and their benefit and would require errata or another spell to add the other elementals even for non society play)

1st question; the core rule book. Summon monster spells do not have specifics on which elementals may be summoned, it states Elemental (small)

As for Chris, this is specifically for PFS characters (I know I didn't specify).
Besides, a GM of a homebrew game can rule stats, however PFS needs an official ruling or errata.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but there's this ruling.

jeuce is correct on the summon monster spells, in PFS you can summon any elemental type that is covered in the additional resources (which means any creature in any of the four Bestiaries, since for books which are part of the core RPG line, the assumption is that everything is legal UNLESS it is called out specifically.)

So, yes you can summon a small magma elemental.

But, NO, you can't wild shape into one, since the elemental body spells have specific lists of possible elementals, which things like the magma elemental have not been added to. I doubt this will ever change, honestly, because whoever adds the elementals to that list will have to come up with specific powers that are gained for each level of spell.

Edit: Ninja'd and proven wrong by Auke. I missed that one! So yeah, you can only summon and wild shape into the standard 4 elemental types. In a home game, I would allow the other types to be summoned, but in PFS you're stuck.

Now that I've been proven incorrect with the summons, back to the original question; will they be legal?

It's not that simple, because the elemental body spells don't work in the same way as the other polymorph spells. Where the other poly spells give you a list of abilities and say 'choose what you want, but you can only gain these abilities', the EB line gives you specific abilities with specific forms.

So to add new elemental types they would have to add associated abilities gained.
