Please Post All of Your Alpha Feedback on Alpha Forums (Not Here)

The devs are busy making a game and only have time to read one forum, which isn't here anymore.

I understand we're all used to coming to Paizo forums to talk about the game but GW has gone to the trouble to make their own forums, that's where the devs are reading, and that's where all of these comments and discussions about alpha and EE should be happening from now on.

Also for the sake of the devs, give hard data and measurable information. "Finding starter weapons is stupid!" doesn't help where "According to achievements I've killed 637 things and only one starter weapon has dropped" might clue them in to a problem with loot tables, etc.

Then they should open Alpha Forums to be read by non Alpha players...

I understand they only want feedback from people playing, but locking that feedback behind a wall while stating there is no NDA is counter productive.

The alpha forums are very difficult to follow. I ant tell if anyone answered to my last post. As such I prefer being here - apart of beng unable to connect there in the last 2 hours which also is a reason to post here.

More reasons - half my alliance isn't yet alpha
I still like to attract new players who also are not alpha

Technical stuff and impressions should be posted in the alpha forums.

On the other hand, impressions should be posted here too. The average surfer needs to see how/what average alpha players think about this game, so far.

GW has not been shy about their presentation or the MVP. We shouldn't be either.

These forums have also been more technically reliable than the Alpha ones, which are, of course, in Alpha themselves. Add to that the (current) lack of a search function, and one can see why these remain popular for all conversations.

We've not yet heard that Goblinworks is having trouble watching both sets of forums, but given their extensive participation in both, I suspect they're doing okay thus far.

I think anyone who is not an employee of Goblinworks should not be telling others where they should or should not post their feedback. The lack of an NDA is a conscious decision by Goblinworks meant to encourage people to spread the word about PFO through whatever channels they like.

Thanks Mom, Please link the blog post asking everyone to migrate to the new forums.

These forums lack very important features(editing?!?!), but the new ones are barren of them.(OP name, Last poster name, etc. not to mention high amounts of down time.)

Actually, when I cannot get into alpha to play I usually also have trouble getting on to the Alpha forums.

These forums have editing, but you can only edit your post for the first hour after it is placed.

The button is in between the reply and delete buttons above the post.

On a positive note .... Thornkeep the first time you enter it looks amazing. Fantastic job.

I know you can edit AT FIRST, but the problem is people cannot update their own posts when they are attempting to keep track of somthing, collect data, or correct outdated information that was in the OP.

I have never participated in a forum community that you couldn't update you thread posts.

A purpose of locking posts after an hour, apparently, is to remove the ability of folks to say "nope, I never said that"...and all its variants. There are no rules about creating another post in a thread to make corrections or to add new or additional information.

Yes, and I am saying that reasoning is ridiculous when compared to the benifit of being able to change the OP when attempting to disseminate current data to the community.

Want to look at the spreadsheets that were posted? Dont read the ones in the OP they are outdated, you had better go to page 4.

Want to alter your planned buildings in your settlement thread? Nope, make a new post.

Want to add current allies, change settlements, or tweak the mission statment, to your long standing company recruitment thread? Sorry Charlie, new thread for you.

To me its forum warrioring, finger pointing, "No, but you said" nonsense, VS. Having more useful community tools. That choice seems very clear to me.

These boards've been using this scheme for a long time, so I'm sure they're doing what Paizo intends them to do. The Alpha boards, at least as currently running, appear to have no edit-lock, but they also have no search function (among other things wished-for by the users), so it's mix-and-match.

There's a very simple way to do exactly what you want to do. Use Lists. You can always edit a list to change its text. Simply link to a List in your OP and all the currently updated information is just a click away.

I appreciate the thought, Proxima. But as was pointed out in my "Starting Alpha 8" thread, Transparency, Transparency, Transparency.

GW has been very keen on trying to be transparent. If we move all our development discussion to the Alpha Forums, then the world outside will have no idea what is going on.
