At will change into raccoon character trait? (a.k.a. Pathfinder rocket raccoon)

Advice

Hi all,

We're going to start a new game and I would like to get some opinions about how we should handle the following character idea: A ranger with the ability to change into a raccoon at will.

The shape is mainly a flavor thing and fun for roleplaying and I would say it is a supernatural ability which I want to allow as a Trait.

The stats of the raccoon shape are identical as the characters shape. Only the size changes. Further we would like to allow the use of gear and weapons.

Any reasons to not allow this as a trait? Will this hurt the mechanics of the game and unbalance things? Is a trait to light for this power, should this be allowed in exchange for letting some other skills go?

Greetings!

My first thought was reflavor the Kitsune but it wouldn't give you the size change.

Kitsune can select the following feat :Fox Shape.

If it is only for flavor, why not simply let the character play a small sized Kitsune, rekinned as a Raccoon?

Ah beat to it, and I didn't know about Fox Shape.

Good idea, never thought about reflavoring the kitsune race. Thanks for the tip :-)

If you reflavor the kitsune, make it small, dex and int instead of dex cha, and everything else pretty much works.
