Thanks for the kind words. :)

Are you ready for a second monster!?

Soon, very soon...

And soon I'll also go to the sauna ('cos that's what Finns do) and celebrate this glorious occasion with a beer (also something that Finns do). :-D

And here's the link.

I'm really curious to see the reaction to this one. I think it could be the most polarizing...

Liberty's Edge Contributor, RPG Superstar 2012

I like it. Congrats, Douglas!

Something weird happening in google chrome on the first monster - I get the paizo home page when clicking it?

When you post each new link on the hours, how about including the previous links as well with the newest link at the top to save time for the public reviewers :)

The second one - initial scan through ignoring the judges comments and the one thing that immediately leaps out - the assumption in the description that it is always encountered hovering! >.<

Congrats Douglas, this monster certainly went for something different. :)

Looks like there's going to be a nice variety among the monsters in the top 5.

Wow, I'm honored! Thanks to the judges for the extensive feedback. I'm looking forward to seeing the other finalists!

I assume we should wait until the conclusion of voting to respond to any comments by viewers or judges?

Had same problem, Anthony. Try this as a link.

Congrats! If I remember correctly, you mentioned you were a first-timer. Massive kudos! I had no idea--if the comments sound as though I was talking to a freelancer, it's because I thought I was talking to a freelancer. :-)

Anyway, the rules are silent on whether you can or cannot talk about your entry now that it's no longer anonymous. However, I wouldn't recommend responding to the comments just yet.

Mikko and Mike, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think we have a gag order on the contestants. If you want to talk about your monsters or design process or whatever, I think you can do so before the voting closes.

Campaign for your monsters!

(Though wait for Mikko and Mike to weigh in, maybe, to make sure I'm not making up rules on my own.)

And I see Mikko weighed in already: I have no problem with designers responding to comments, but that's just me.

Who ever wished for the Warpstar? (I do love it!)

Anyway congrats you two.

Ahhh a monster I wished for! The Sianach! I love it how the guy used my own ideas about the creature in his version!

Thanks for picking my wish! It is awesome!

I do remember several requests for more oozes on the thread. Not all requests were specific.

Ohhh so all by all, you just could create anything you liked, because Dragon78 wished for more Fey, Ooze, Plant, Everything else... Didn't knew that, that is kinda random then!

Anyway I have my favorite already, or another of my own wishes makes the top 5. :-p

I really(x100) like one of these. I will be waiting for the next two monsters.

Jacob, personally I don't mind, but I think some voters might frown upon it, so it's fair to warn about it. Voters, feel free to voice your opinions on this matter!

Paizo Employee RPG Superstar 2014 Top 4, RPG Superstar 2013 Top 32

I would recommend against commenting except to say "thank you" and maybe "please vote for me." Please do not clarify anything about your monster, especially in response to comments. It should speak for itself until voting is closed. While I don't think we'll DQ anyone for such comments, it is still frowned upon and could lose you some votes.

After seeing the other four monsters, I won't be disappointed if I don't make it. This contest has some incredibly strong entries.

Thanks everyone! I'm so honored by all the kind words and invaluable critiques.

Good luck to all the contestants!

I noticed I was wrong about the numbers on the nightbloom. The number of feats, attack bonus, etc. are actually correct. Apologies, Nick!

(And congrats!)

I expected as much re: comments, but thought it best to bring it up since it hadn't been specified anywhere.

Looking forward to the final reveal, and may the best monster devour the competition!

Yup, first-time contestant! Thanks :D

Congrats to all. I will however post my monsterling (in both its versions), here or somewhere else. ^_^

Congratulations, finalists!

Mikko, you about killed me with the suspense there. Maybe a big reveal all at once next time around, huh?

I gotta get going here, so I'm opening the voting booth right away. Have fun reading, commenting and voting!

(And yes, please comment on what you liked or didn't like about the top 5 monsters!)

Congrats to Mike and to the whole top 5, great monsters!

I'll have to look them over later in detail to decide who I'll vote for.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Yeah, thank goodness they don't do that with Superstar! :) I'd have a heart attack.

Please leave comments, everyone. I'm sure the designers would love to get any more feedback they can. (And I know the judges are curious too about what you think of the selections.)

Terrific job by all entries!!! What a fantastic turnout!

I know where my vote is going ;) but best of luck to all the finalists!

Wow, nice work by all the other finalists. Looks like I'm in good company.

Is that a preview for your upcoming supplement,

In the Company of Monster Designers?

I'm gonna have to mull over which one to vote for for awhile...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm surprised, honored, and excited to see that my monster made the cut. I'll be reading the entries and all the comments later tonight and tomorrow to see what I'm up against. This morning I saw the Taniwha and really like it.

It'll be fun and enlightening to read comments about my own entry, too.

Many, many thanks to the judges, sponsors and entrants who made this contest possible. I'm just getting my feet wet, but I can already tell that designing & writing for RPGs (Pathfinder especially) is very rewarding.

WOW! Awesome! 3 of my wishes made it in! And even one I made up myself! (A nightshade flower creature!)

I like all five entries! Good job and who ever may win, congrats!

We aim to please. ;)

I loved the notion of the nightbloom, and I'm glad I got to use it.

Very cool everyone! Congratulations Joe, Douglas, Christopher, Mike & Wendell.

I knew after Mikko posted the Tinawah that I was out, and sure enough five very cool monsters! And for five very different reasons too.

Thanks for those comments judges, it is especially cool to see Sean back in the commentators chair.

After reading all five, I narrowed it to four. After reading the comments I narrowed it to three. After posting on all the critters, I have narrowed it to two.

Decisions, decisions...:
1d2 ⇒ 1 :)

Shout-out to Evil Queen for inspiring so much awesome. :)

I rather enjoyed it, but like I said the suspense ended after the first one :).

Actually it's my brother Nick, not me. I'm just a cheerleader this time around =)

And yeah, nice suggestions Evil Queen!

Thanks :-) (although 50%, or even more in the bestiary 5 wishthread are wishes from me, Wannabe Demon Lord and Dragon78 lol)

But I liked to see my hag-mount and antler-decoration wishes come to life in Joe's awesome Sianach entry, just like I pictured it to be! Hope Paizo gets inspiration from that and uses it in bestiary 5! (The hags can really use some cool animal mounts and allies)

The Nightbloom is at this moment my favorite, I never thought that creature would be used, I even forgot about it (as it was a very early wish), thanks for reminding me of it, and creating that awesome version of it!
