weapon focus adds +1 to CMB as well?

Rules Questions

So I am looking at a guide for trip builds, weapon focus to be specific and it says basically what the title does but PFSRD seems to disagree... anyone know what I'm missing?

Any attack bonus specific to a circumstance (like using a particular weapon type) adds to CMB only if that circumstance is met. So if you used your sword in the trip maneuver you would get the weapon focus bonus, but if you instead used your hand you wouldn't.

Scarab Sages

All of the attack bonuses applied when attacking with a weapon are also applied when making a combat maneuver with the weapon.

really? i did not know that! can anyone please point me to the page where this rule is stated please? thanks

I dont know what page, but this is from the combat chapter in the PRD

Quote:

When you attempt to perform a combat maneuver, make an attack roll and add your CMB in place of your normal attack bonus. Add any bonuses you currently have on attack rolls due to spells, feats, and other effects. These bonuses must be applicable to the weapon or attack used to perform the maneuver.

It's worth noting that according to the weapon finesse faq, combat maneuvers that can be done with weapons include disarm, sunder, and trip. Even if you have a bonus on unarmed strike, it still doesn't apply to a grapple attempt unfortunately, but there is weapon focus (grapple) for that.

It was clarified in this Blog/FAQ.

Core book, page 199...

Read the 'performing a combat maneuver' section. It mentions taking your CMB, and adding in bonuses to attack rolls from feats, spells, and other effects.

Thanks guys :)
