51 to 87 of 87 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

Mark wakes up from his horrible bad dream in his dorm room, and has to reassure himself that it was just a nightmare that he failed the entrance exams. Shaken, he dusts off his text books and heads to his first class. It all seemed so... real.

Per Matt:

Ed, you want to redo your university time, since you actually got in, and didn't go to Basic Training. You want to probably check OTC if you're going Army or Navy. To be a full doctor you need BsC, MS, PhD. 7 years minimum. If going OTC, that will be another 4 years (11 years minimum) making you 29. To be a surgeon, you'll need the Surgery feat at some point.

Age of 29+ is fine. I personally would have great doubts about a "Dougie Houser" aged doctor, anyway.

So, Matt, if I can ask you a favor, will you go ahead and roll the dice to follow the proposed path of OTC, BsC, MS, and PhD, with the surgery feat and theoretical xeno-biology for me?

I'd really like to have my character ready by this Friday so only minor tweaks are needed, and we can hit the ground running

Don't have any electronic character sheets like last time, just bring all your notes and I'll print out ones to transfer to at the game.

Sure Ed, I'll roll him up shortly.

Jim musters out at age 30 of the navy.
Will finish class levels, skills and feats tonight.

As usual I am confused on how to even start making a character. I have read this thread a few times and I am looking at the guide.

So I don't mind being an Engineer but I don't see a specific class as Engineer. I could also be a naval commander. I am fine with anything to be honest.

Not sure if you are in town and I can come over for an hour or two (tonight or tomorrow), or if you are willing to sycpe to help me make my character.

Sorry,
Ken

@Ken - No problem Ken, I'm in town, if you want to come over. Jobs in this system are about skills you have, not the class. Certain classes are better at certain things than others. Academic can be an engineeer, so can Navy. Barbarian not so much.

@Neal - You can't be commissioned and promoted in the same tour. So he's mustering out as an O2. Since you can't start another tour at 30, that was required anyway. BTW: As far as I can tell, you hit the maximum level possible at start, level 8.

Sounds good Matt. Is 6 p.m. (or 8:30). a good time for tonight?

Ken

6 is fine, be easier on you I think, stopping by on your way home.

Sounds good!

Found a Character Sheet that is interactive and form fillable. :) Yay! Have at it.

Just a note, if you have a class that gives AP(Vacuum Suit), but it isn't Navy, you have an open slot for that feat, but you don't actually have it yet. You would need a few weeks of training with the vacuum suit to activate the feat.

Rolling for Stamina 4d8 + 16

Stamina: 4d8 + 16 ⇒ (2, 3, 5, 6) + 16 = 32

So my guy's goal was to become a high ranking officer in the Navy. Went to college, got good marks but not quite good enough to get honors. Went into the officer program for the Navy. Although I stayed for 4 years, things did not go well. I did not get promoted and left after that time. I became a mercenary. My skills are now focused on espionage/security/computer things. Not much of a combat person.

So looks like we've got

1) Medic

2) Heavy Weapons/Demolitions

3) Espionage (face?)/Hacker

4) Pilot

5) Whatever Raff is going to be unless it is picked for him.

Sound about right?

So far.

Use this Trait to get +2 to INT and Cha

I saw TAS Membership under the Benefits, but I can't find any mention of it in the book.

For the prestige classes if it says you need Pilot 8. I'm assuming it's 8 actual ranks in that skill, not just an 8 modifier. So the first level you could take it would be lvl 9?

Matt I will need rolls
Stamina

1d4+1 Aca level
1d4+1 Aca level
1d6+1 Nvy level

Actually Neal, you subtract 3 from the ranks required, Minimum 1. Due to the pathfinderization of skills. So earliest you could take it would be 6th.

There's no TAS in the system, so that translates to a Trust Fund for your character if you roll it. 4500 credits per month.

Raff, the reason we wanted you to come on is we changed up how we're creating the characters. You're not fixed at level 3, so you need to redo your creation, unless you want to be the only 3 in a group of 5 to 8 level characters.

Jim Doolander
Learned piloting and ship design during his career in the navy. After leaving the navy he started his professional career as a vehicle design er/builder. One day he would like to design and see built his very own starship.

Jim is always a pretty straightforward guy. He tends to take risks which usually pay off. After being an officer in the navy he is pretty good giving orders and getting people to get things done. Although Jim hates it, he got pretty decent at all the adminstrative work that comes from being a navel officer. He is well versed in all the technical skills required for his job as a architect.

[ooc] That's a start for Jim and here is his current feats plus stamina rolls and mustering rolls. Skills wont cut and paste, but he has all the technical skills, decent driving, and excellent piloting.

Starting Feats Navy: AP (Light), AP (Vac Suit), WP (Marksman), WP (Laser)
Starting Feats Professional: Professional Specialty (Vessel Designer)
From World Driving Feat: Vehicle/Wheeled feat
World Feat: Vehicle/Grav
Human Bonus Feat: Vessel/Starships
Navy 1st Level Bonus Feat: Damage Control
Navy 2nd Level Bonus Feat: Naval Architect
Navy 5th Level Bonus Feat: Naval Architect
Professional 1st Level Bonus Feat: Vessel/Ground Wheeled
Professional 2nd Level Bonus Feat: Vessel/Aircraft Helicopters
Ace Pilot 1: Starship Fighters
Level 1: Ship Tactics
Level 3: Weapon Proficiency (Ship’s weaponry)
Level 5: Weapon Proficiency (VehiIcular Weapons)
Level 7:

Trait 1: TBD
Trait 2: TBD

Mustering Out he gets 4 rolls, 3 for terms and 1 for being an O2.
Cash Roll: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 Nice Cr 50,000
Material Benefit: 1d6 ⇒ 6 High Passage which I think translates to 9000 Cr
Cash Roll: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Cr 20,000
Cash Roll: 1d6 ⇒ 6 Cr 50,000
So that's about 129,000 Cr Maybe I can have my own starfighter or at least a helicopter

Stamina: 7d6 + 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (6, 5, 3, 5, 4, 3, 1) + (5) + 8 = 40

I have read the post went over my character background from the friday i came over and my level is 6th , we already rolled for three of my levels stamina dice

I have a Academic level 2, and Navy level 4

1st:lvl Aca roll 1d4+1
2nd:lvl Aca roll 1d4+1
1st:lvl navy roll 3
2nd:lvl navy roll 4
3rd:lvl nevy rool 4
4th:lvl Navy roll 1d6+1

Edward Engle dreamed about the big colony ships when he was young, to marveled at all the systems and subsystems needed to operate something that big . To just move a thing through space was just so marvelous to him ,So he become an engineer and dreamed to working with such big ships. joining the navy he got to work with big ships , the mouth ball fleet. This unassuming job that held little excitement until a routine mission to move a old cap ship crash with space debris that cause lost of gravity and a ship out of control.

Pathfinder Rulebook Subscriber

Raff, if your character is part of the mouth ball fleet, I think you're playing the wrong game. ;)

Alright Raff, wasn't sure if you kept your XP totals or not on your work sheet. Sounds good.

Neel, you can only get 2 rolls on the cash table, maximum. So you'll need to roll one of those 3 on the materials table instead.

Raff's Stamina: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Raff's Stamina: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Raff's Stamina: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

And for the love of god, do not come dressed up in character if this is the case.

Finishing up my skill choices.

What attribute does perception and diplomacy use?

And do we still gain 3 if it is a class skill?

Ken

Perception is Wis/Int

Diplomacy is Cha/Int

Stealth is Dex

Acrobatics is Dex

Yes, you get a +3 if it's a class skill.

Okay now on to feats.

Hacker - 1st Bonus Academic Feat
Gearhead - 1st Bonus Navy Feat
EW Specialist - 2nd level Bonus Navy Feat
Vessel Slipboat - I had this written down. Do I get a 3rd bonus feat for navy or was I getting this from my other 4 feats?
Cross Training x 2 - 1st and 2nd level bonus mercenary feats

We talked that I also get 4 other feats (level 1, level 1 human, level 3 and level 5). I want to make sure I understood this correctly.

Plus I get all my class feats for the 3 classes.

Thanks,
Ken

Yes, you get all the starting feats for all 3 classes. However a lot of them overlap (armor proficiency, etc).

You were getting the Vessel (Ship's boat) from Cross-training.

You were also considering getting Zero-G/Low Grav Adaptation via the 2nd Cross Training.

You can get the Improved Zero-G/Low Grav Adaptation as your 5th level feat. That negates all skill penalties in zero/low G.

You do get 2 1st, 1 3rd, and 1 5th.
