Bow using Cleric I'm looking at you. Great range, good maneuverability and can heal self.
Aw, Thanks. Although I think the biggest part of that is that the AI that counters kiting is not yet implemented.
I wouldn't call it a multiclass, though. Elven Clerics, as well as Clerics of Erastil, Ketephys, Skode, or a number of gods not usually used can all use a longbow without any additional training.

Yep, currently longbow is a "fighter weapon" only in the sense that it includes an attack with an Opportunity conditional but not one with a Disrupted conditional. All the weapon attacks right now are General, and can be used by anyone that can get use out of them. Eventually we'll have attacks that are linked to a specific role, and you'll probably find, say, more Cleric mace attacks than longbow attacks. But then when we get around to adding Erastil, his clerics will probably get some longbow attacks.
The moral being, there are certain weapons that will probably be more supported than others for synergy with various roles, but if you like the general feats of another weapon better, feel free to use them.

I'm confused about the Role system.
The kickstarter indicated that PFO was not supposed to be a class based character system.
We were supposed to be free to pick and chose from a bunch of skills to make our own custom characters which would then fit into a "role" based on the skill choices we make.
If we took a lot of divine skills we would fill a "cleric" role. If we picked a lot of melee, damage absorb and agro skills we would fall into the "fighter" roll. Arcane spells and we fit under "wizard" and melee, crowd control and stealth and we fall under "rogue"
The last few weeks I've been having a lot of trouble telling the difference between every class based game I've ever played and what I'm seeing described for the roles in PFO.
Pick a Class/Role when you create your character and get skills/gear accordingly. CHECK!
Train Class/Role skills at a Class/Role trainer CHECK!
Certain skills only available to certain Classes/Roles CHECK!
Inability to change Class/Role CHECK?? This certainly seems implied by the previous post.
Inability to train other Class/Role skills CHECK?? This also seems implied by the last post.
I'm not seeing the difference here so could someone explain it better?
What is the difference between this Role Based system and every other Class based system besides swapping the word Role for Class?

This is a concession of Alpha. When the game starts, you will not pick a starting class. Everyone will start off with the same generic base and then spend XP in game to figure out where they go.
Train Class/Role skills at a Class/Role trainer CHECK!
They have skills logically organized by the role they belong to. You can still go to any trainer and buy skills.

See above. Skills may belong to one role, but are not limited to it. You can train any skill you meet the prerequisites for. Skills are assigned roles only for logical grouping and devotion bonus (when that gets implemented).

Simply false.

The difference is that my cleric started with Medium Armor, a Hammer, and a Divine Focus (and the ability to use them).
Then I added the ability to use a bow, and several abilities for that bow. I added those particular abilities because the fighter character started with some of them, I liked the way they played, and I saw the advantages of having a healer that could hang back and still do some damage.
Because the Bow abilities I got are all general-purpose, I could still have my Luck Domain feat slotted. I could have trained and slotted a trophy belt, but if I did so I would lose the ability to slot a domain feat (since I would have a fighter-only thing slotted).
