The "Missionary" trait strongly implies that a divine caster of Sarenrae is necessary for the campaign.

Is a Cleric or Paladin of Sarenrae required for this Adventure Path?

Since I am to be a player in this AP, please avoid unnecessary spoilers.

No. Sarenrae merely happens to be particularly relevant to the AP on a thematic and cultural basis.

Okay. Would an elf make sense as a Priest of Sarenrae? Or would that be just too outside of the elven character?

I was originally looking at an Elven Priest of Desna, but the Player's Guide is causing me to doubt the wisdom of this.

One of my players is playing a monk/cleric of Desna and has been just fine.

Edit: Now I need to look at the player's guide again to find what you saw to make you think it is a bad idea.

Legacy of Fire Player's Companion, p. 10 - "Missionary"

Doh! I guess that is how a player slipped "Finding Haleen" past me ;}

I would just ask your GM on that one. I'd let it fly.

"Finding Haleen" is a problem?

In any event, "Seeking Adventure" seems like a better trait for a Cleric of Desna.

Actually, it hasn't been. But I feel the trait is "too good". It is like Toughness and Fast Learner all rolled up into a trait, which are supposed to be half-a-feat. If I would have caught it early on, I would have just limited it to the PC getting both hps and sps, not in addition to the normal favored class bonus.

This is true. I wonder if my GM will catch it?

A cleric or paladin of Sarenrae is just about a perfect fit for the themes and plot of Legacy of Fire, but is not necessary or required.

Freedom versus imprisonment and slavery is an important, recurring theme in Legacy of Fire, so a cleric of Desna would be a good fit, just not a perfect fit.

You don't really need a cleric of Sarenrae - however someone of her faith would a lot to the campaign, as there are tons of references and possibilties for stuff related to the Dawnflower.
