Building Point, Point of Construction (could be nicknamed PoCky),
Potential Origin of Propertyor Building Platform could work. What? Maturity? That must be for people who don't have hats.
Not that I have a hat. But if I did, I sure wouldn't be getting those disapproving looks, would I?
No hat? Not even the Gibus? (sorry larger crowd, TF2 joke)

So I'm still catching up; could someone explain (or just link the relevant blog post) the difference between a Point of Interest and an Outpost? I get that settlements are the player-run towns but didn't know there was a distinction for smaller sites.
And for what it's worth, I'm perfectly fine with PoI as the term, but I suppose something like holding, steading, or station would work too.

POI is a significant item that may require siege equipment to attack. (Dev posts are not specific on this and both have been stated). Once there is a POI upto 2 outposts can be established to collect bulk resources.
Outposts can be raided by groups or companies. Methods are TBD, but will allow to redirect the bulk resources to the raiders. Raiders may be able to destroy.
Settlements are owned by settlement members. POI and outpost are owned by companies, which may or may not be sponsored by settlements.
Settlement > POI > outpost.

PoI's are the bigger locations inside a hex which doesn't have a settlement in it. PoI's are things like watchtowers, manors, shrines, etc. They will have different functions depending on the building; some might provide training, some might give special resources, while others might offer a level of protection for the surrounding countryside.
Outposts, on the other hand, are small gathering stations which automatically produce bulk goods typically used in the construction of buildings. Every hour outposts accumulate a set amount of a specific type of resource (up to a stored cap); either the owners of the outpost move those resources so that the outpost can continue generating, raiders come along and take some of the resources for themselves, or the outpost stops generating. Outposts are the least important player structures, which will be easy to set up and easy to tear down. Goblinworks described them as "semi-permanent structures", although as far as I know they don't expire on their own or anything like that.

Point of Interest is a perfectly apt name for the location, but not for the structure.
The structure itself would be better described as a Holding.
A Domain or Demesne (pronounced very similarly, demesne has a shorter vowel sound) would represent the whole of an individual or groups Holdings and Settlements, and isn't appropriate for what we are trying to describe.
So, yeah, Point of Interest for the location, Holding for the building you put on it.

I have never really cared for the term Point of Interest, or the acronym PoI (as Tuffon pointed out, Plane of Innovation will always be the first to mind), but I do like the term holding quite a bit. Whereas settlements are a seat of power, it makes sense for their subsidiaries to be known as holdings. It sounds a hell of a lot better than PoI, as well as fitting in with fantasy stylings.
People who read a lot of fantasy are going to quickly pick up on what a holding might be, while a Point of Interest sounds very generic and more likely to be assigned to a particular waterfall, amphitheater or location you can stand on and not be able to see your feet when you look down (assuming this is an unusual occurrence).
Steading is not a bad one, but unless we can prove that it prevents the use of the One Power I think it might be misleading.
