card game creating characters values?

Homebrew and House Rules

Scarab Sages

Got my game yesterday, but had already started making templates for how I'd want to make some custom characters(based on what I could see of each stat being d4-d12 and the total being 42)

Now that I got the game and reach the area where it mention creating characters, it feels like a lot of text is missing...

How many points are to be placed?
What is the value of a hand size 4 compared to 6?
Cost of Proficientcy?

Finally just an opinion how i think the stats should have been:

4-5=D4-2
6-7=D4-1
8-9=D4
10-11=D6
12-13=D8
14-15=D10
16-17=D12
18-19=D12+1
20-21=D12+2

Though this wouldn't fit most 20 point buy character I'd imagine(though perhaps if I try to Include skills as part of it it might work)

First of, this should most likly be moved to the homebrew section.

Now to get to your question, this two threads are the ropes most people in this forum use, it´s nothing official, but it get´s the job done.

Number 1
Number 2

I hope this helps, and have fun building.

Check this thread out too, especially the posts by Mike and Chad.

One thing about smaller hand size is it caps how much damage you can take for failing a check. Since you discard cards from your hand for damage, once you run out of cards to discard, you can't take anymore damage. So all the "martials" (to use a term I've noticed on other Paizo forums, though maybe not correctly) tend to have smaller hand sizes. Since they use weapons, they often have the option of only revealing a card for combat, where as a spell must be discarded/recharged.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Not finished with this character yet, but what do you guys think about this for a Dark Tapestry build?

Str D6
Dex D4
Con D8
Int D6
Wis D8
Cha D10 +2 Cha

Powers:

Recharge a blessing(or spell) to reduce a combat check difficulty by 2.
Can recharge any number of blessings.
Discard a card to reorder the next 2 cards at your location.(Point being doing so before exploring to avoid Dex rolls)

Suggestions for changes or additions?

Couple of questions (though as a non-RPG player, I have no idea what a Dark Tapestry is, so forgive my ignorance):

Did you mean Diplomacy: Charisma +2?

And can you explain the second power to recharge any number of blessings? Does that just work in conjunction with his first power? So he could recharge 5 blessings to reduce the difficulty by 10? If not, then when is he recharging blessings exactly?

Thanks.

Think the Shadow talker/Voodoo guy from "the princess and the frog" It's a type of Oracle in PF.
sorry about that, should be Diplomacy there not just charisma ^^'.

here's an update on how I think the character should be:

Str D6 [][][]
Dex D4 []
Con D8 [][]
Int D6 [][]
Wis D8 [][][]
Cha D10 +2 diplomacy, +3 Divine [][][][]

Recharge a blessing([]or spell) to reduce your combat difficulty by 2 []+1
Can recharge any number of blessings.
Discard a blessing to view and reorder the next 2 cards ([]+1) of your location as you see fit(done so before exploring)

Hand Size: 5

Proficient: Light Armor [x]
Weapons []

Alternatively the first power could be reveal any number of spells in your hand to reduce a monsters power by 1 for each however not sure how I'd lvl that up since the obvious would be -2 a spel in hand but that's potentially -10 power = probably OP
Perhaps make it reveal 2 spells to give the monster get -4 and upgrade it to reveal 3 spells to give -6 ?(so that it's not possible to do with just 1 spell in hand)

any suggestions?

I'm also up for hearing alternatives(such as if you think this build would fit another kind better)
THen again this should probably be "Role" not the class.

Finally here's the deck I had in Mind(might not be good)

Weapon - []
Spell 6 [][][] (2xInflict,1xGuidance,1xstrength,1xcure,1xdetect magic)
Armor 1 [](1x Leather Armor)
Item 2 [] (1x Bracers of protection,1x Sage's journal)
Ally 1 [][] (1x Crow)
Blessing 5 [][] (5x blessing of the gods)

Scarab Sages

THough truth be told the Dark Tapestry getting some kind of alliance with shadows would probably be more suitable for the character in mind.

Perhaps have the option of discarding ally cards to get a "shadow bonus"

While making another character.
I decided to try and make my Tiefling into a card game character, though I'd like the racial thing to have some say...

Would this be considered OP or fair?

-1 dmg from fire, cold and electricity on the default character but in turn either:

1) have 1 card less in hand size?
2) Take a spell to act like the spell like ability(which would be banished after use)
3) both 1 and 2 or something entirely diferent?

That's a tough one. Personally for my Tiefling, I looked at Seoni's ability for the Abyssal Sorcerer where it costs one point simply to get -1 to fire damage, and another point to extend that to three damage types. Assuming this is going to be one of the characters two "starting" powers, you might go for something like:

Reduce Fire ([ ] and Cold and Electricity) damage dealt to you by 1

..but this means that until your character get's their first power feat, they won't have full access to what should be an 'always on' racial ability. In the end I plumped for

Reduce Fire damage dealt to you by 2 ([ ] 3)

..which is more representative of a theme for this character than racially accurate.
