Players' Guide Race Section

Pathfinder Adventure Path General Discussion

I'm working late, and this came to me.

Up until around Skull & Shackles, the Players' Guides for the Adventure Paths used to have a section on why or how peoples of various races were found in the area the AP was set in. I can guess that the reason it was dropped was because it often retreaded similar information every time.

IMO, the key problem with that was the fact that those sections only dealt with the Core races.

My suggestion, as a way to reintroduce and revitalize the concept is that, instead of redoing the same Core races over and over again, instead focus on prominent races in that area: which core races hold the most sway in that area, and particularly what "Featured" or Uncommon Races have sizable communities in the area. That way, even players who suffer from Special Snowflake Syndrome when it comes to races can still find one that fits the theme.

I think i would like that but there is the issue of space in the player's guide, i would prefer the space be used for other things for the AP than making race listings.

in order to make the player companions more integrative to the APs they have now put this in the player companion, People of the Sands does this for Mummy's Mask at least.

I could buy that if there weren't a story apropos of nothing in every AP book. I liked them, especially the one in the first book of CoCT about the pathfinder interrupting the rite of passage for the Shoanti tribe. But they don't mean as much as a page or two describing how the less used races are viewed in the society of the AP.

I understand the needs of publishing and profit. So perhaps there should be a section on this website describing these things as an online reference. It's only a few pages at most. It's not like you really have to describe the societal role of Wayangs in Irrisen. I'd be a source of secondary and non-critical canon much like the Ask James Jacobs thread.
