Guantlet to C, which must mean Mystical Awakening has gone somewhere else

Goblin Squad Member

Yup, looks like Kabal moved to D, letting Tavernhold go back to their spot. Looks like it's causing some other moves elsewhere, too (like P?).

Goblin Squad Member

Mystical Awakening is now in AA, vVv is now in the top right.

Goblin Squad Member

Mystical Awakening has gone to the mountains by golgotha, bumping VVV

Goblin Squad Member

So VVV pushed Otium Explorer out of "A"

(edit) Which is probably very bad for Otium Explorer, since I don't think they'll have anywhere to go.

Goblin Squad Member

Mystical Awakening moved to AA, best choice for our style of gaming

Could someone please explain the logic of updating the map before posting a note? We're discerning our own updates in dribs and drabs, which isn't very conducive for "storytelling", cheerleading, or analysis; we've surrendered at least some of the Monday-morning buzz we've had through the Land Rush so far.

We're just bored and excited. :P In some ways, I find this more entertaining than having it spelled out right away. ;) hehe

And the guardians have found a spot! Entering in "P" with the Bastard Sons shifting to "T"

Liberty's Edge Goblin Squad Member

WOW! quite the upheaval this week!

Goblin Squad Member

J is now Terra Australis Incognito. It was Tavernhold, but Tavernhold moved to Kabal's spot at F, while Kabal moved to D supplanting The Gauntlet. The Gauntlet is on C, vice Mystical Awakening, who is now on Zombie Kitteh Mountain where VVV was. VVV moved onto the big mountain next to Forgeholm; Otium Explorator got kicked off the map from that spot.

Goblin Squad Member

I actually think this helps with the hype. When the list is posted, I just go and have a look at it. When it isn't, I go and look at the actual map, and check where everyone is.

Goblin Squad Member

So, I wonder how Bastard Sons pushed Four Rivers off. They had 4 weeks of Fort bonus, no? And they both had 7 votes?

Goblin Squad Member

Looks like both Otium and Four Rivers got the heave in the current jumble.

Also, Bastard Sons of Daggermark bumped to T; Four Rivers is gone.

I think that's everything.

I'm wondering if Four rivers (Who haven't been around the boards) didn't realize they even had a bonus, and elected to push elsewhere, rating their own hex lower and losing it?

Or maybe it's a mistake that will get undone....

Goblin Squad Member

Or, somebody with a sense of humour poured a couple of their people into someone small at the last minute to get them on the board, then pulled out again shortly after Midnight PDT to hide the evidence....

Goblin Squad Member

I'm pretty sure Kabal is simply playing mind games with us this week (and maybe last week as part of the same plan?) - intentionally stirring things up around the map, showing people that their places are not guaranteed. <places bets> I expect to see a large upset next week or the week after with Kabal adding several members on the last day and taking a spot away from a larger settlement (causing ripples of chaos, ofc).

Good theory, except that those added few would need to be approved by the smaller group before they votes count. Unless it was closely coordinated between those two groups, seems rather unlikely.

If I were on my honeymoon (again) you guys would be the last thing on my mind. And rightfully so! You go Wszebor! We're cheering for ya'!

Go Wszebor! Go Wzsebor!

Goblin Squad Member

Every guild, even the largest, should be regularly updating their full draft order. Nobody's place is guaranteed (except the Three Eldest), and you do not want to get pushed to the backup choice you made a month ago which is now completely irrelevant to your wishes in the current environment.

Goblin Squad Member

The Bastard Sons of Daggermark maintain their unusual distinction of being the only group to've held a different Site each of the four weeks of the Land Rush.

You apparently haven't had the same Teamspeak/mumble/skype conversations I have for the last couple of weeks.....

In case people are wondering about the spreadsheet, I'm not going to update hex locations until we've had some time to ensure the information is accurate. I'm still slightly confused about why Four rivers is off the board.

I find your accusation offensive, hurtful and hilarious. I demand restitution for my shattered psyche.

A cookie?

Goblin Squad Member

sold.

Who are you with anyway. I started to look at your past posts, but I'm lazy.

Goblin Squad Member

Deathwatch Company - In Blackwood Glade.

I'm currently trying to find a way to send an electronic gift card for cookies, but the smallest denomination I can find is $25 - that's a lot more than 1 cookie (or one REALLY big cookie...).

Goblin Squad Member

Ahhhhh... blackwood, that explains things.

I could buy 1 cookie and then send it back.

Or I could buy a batch of cookies and use them at the next Kabal meeting.

Or I could buy a bunch of additional cookies, mix them all up, and then send them to Golgotha with a note that says totally awesome and not poisoned cookies, Love Kabal.

With all of that back and forth of cookies, I'm sure to get my hands on some as well. ;)

Added three guilds some web sites, no contact info

187 Citadel - 4
188 Hand of Abraxes - 1
189 The Named Company - 1

- Open Road has approved their pending members, and they're this week's first entry into the Top 30, at #24 with 11 votes.

- The Bastard Sons of Daggermark, at Site T, were bumped off the bubble, replaced by Librarians of Doom, at Site Q.

- We've hit the next mini-threshold: it now takes eight votes to enter the Top 30.

Goblin Squad Member

Updated the Unofficial Land Rush Leaderboard site.

It will now show the difference in members it has accumulated (or lost) since last week's tally. (Starting with no historical data, so I set the old member tally to the current member tally)

It will now also auto-remove disbanded guilds that it hasn't seen for a day.

Hi Virgil, here are the last 8 captures from approximately noon EDT if it helps:

sheet26th
sheet22nd
sheet23rd
sheet27th
sheet28th
sheet25th
sheet24th
sheet21st

I'm only keeping a week's worth of historical currently (and I'm doing really quick and dirty database tricks to do it which my DBA friends would shake their heads sighing at me about).

Plus, it will update in a little over 24 hours for next week.

Goblin Squad Member

So... not that much movement this week! Anyone got any predictions?

Goblin Squad Member

Gol Morbis wrote:

Open Road will bump Librarians of Doom off the top 33, and anyone with less then 9 are out of the rush for land.

All chaotics leaning towards PvP, should join Aragon, yes including CGs.
All LE should join Golgotha.

;-)

I ponder the thought, how long would a settlement with > 15 members last if SvS conflict was in week one of EE?

Goblin Squad Member

Lets say around 10 players (at least) to secure a Tower, I think any Settlement with less than 60 members will find it tough to hold their 6 adjacent Towers let alone going for more by the time EE starts.

Banesama wrote:

Way less than that. First of all, we do not know the minimum number of members a company needs to be maintained as a company.

Secondly, just because a company is needed to capture a tower, does not mean that they are tied to it (in that same number) or that they are the only ones that can defend it.

The EE online population is going to be so small, that roving groups of 12 or more will be considered large (and perhaps excessively large).

I think GW may need to revisit what the numbers are behind starting a company, maintaining a company and the same for a settlement.

I know that either Stephen or Tork wrote that a settlement would be optimal at 8 companies of 50 + 100 support (total 500). This is down from the former "thousand or so' that was eluded to.

BTW, I think if it is 500, that is a move in the right direction.

Goblin Squad Member

Yeah, for the tower battle, I figure one tower per company of 10 to 20 folks. So outside the big ten, most settlements will get one to three towers. That can all change IF the other 100+ companies join the 33 winners. If they don't because they are not paying attention to what's going on .... {shrug]

I'm figuring, based on nothing, that six settlements will change hands today.

I think a lot will depend on how long it takes to capture a tower.

I think a number of Towers will be held with virtually no effort once they're initially captured, but I don't think there will be a certain number of characters that is the norm for either side when Towers change hands.

I have to agree. With so many targets, this might be a little different. Can't wait for some details on mechanics!

From this weeks announcement Thread:

Lee Hammock wrote:

This week was pretty static overall. Kabal and Terra Australis Incognito moved, but other than that not much movement in the top 20. We did see some movement in the lower range, but it was what I would call the standard churn (also we had guild place in the top 30 that turned in ABCDEF etc for their settlement draft, so make sure you actually turn in a draft or you will end up in strange places). The only new guild on the board this week was Open Road, which along with other guilds growing has kicked some of the previous placing guilds off the list.

I am going to clarify a two rules here:
1. I had not been counting the hunker down bonus when determining who gets a settlement (i.e. the top 30 settlements), only to settle conflicts between the largest/oldest 30 settlements. Going forward I will include the hunker down bonus in choosing the top 30 settlements calculations.

2. Going forward, the hunker down bonus only applies if you are remaining in a settlement that is your first choice of settlement.

(edit: the following shifts occurred this week)

Kabal -> R
Terra Australis -> A
Brains and Brawn -> D
Reading Between the Lines -> T
vVv Gaming -> J
Open Road -> S
The Bastard Sons of Daggermark -> dropped off the map.
