Billy Bob Thornton continues his brutal rampage as a sadistic thug for hire.
Todays ep. A family run out of gas in the snowy wastes of fargo and finds a suitcase filled with money buried by a fence line. Likely the same suitcase of money lost after being buried by a fenceline in the original fargo Film.

Wish they would give it a little more of a twin peaks vibe. Not bad though good talent behind it. I cant fault them too much for being too influenced since they have been up front about it, but the show lacks its own idenity.
Its based on true story. Dont think adding a 'twin peaks vibe' will improve it.

It's a joke. A reference back to the movie which did the same thing (and it mostly wasn't true for the movie either).
It wasn't at all true for the movie, actually. Just the Coen brothers humor.
I keep forgetting to watch the tv show, which is too bad, because I often find myself at a loss when I decide its time to watch tv. I'll have to make a note to remind me. :(

Most "Based on a true story" movies have the true story as the bare essential story nugget that reams of fiction are revolving around. Marvel could basically put "Based on a true story" in front of the Thor films, since they are semi-based on Norse mythology, and it wouldn't be much more of a stretch than most other "Based on a true story" films.

Fabius Maximus |

I wont disagree with that Fabius.
I just wanted to underscore their differences. Both Lester and Jerry are somewhat similar, as they are both what you could call "losers". However, I remember Jerry as being more erratic and sloppy in his mannerisms, while Lester is so tightly wound he'd explode if prodded in the wrong place.
Maybe I should rewatch the movie, though.

on the lester/jerry thing, I think they are being very heavy handed with lester's motivations and treatment on the show. Jerry was a normal guy who had big dreams and took steps that quickly escalated out of his control in the film. Lester was bullied by a classmate, his wife, and even his brother in ridiculous proportions. The film did a good job of making Jerry a belivable character where as lester is more like a caricature of a person in the show. IMO

Unfortunately, there are persons like Lester in real life.

Like him perhaps, however his situations are so contrived. Whenever Lester is on screen now we should hear frolic.

At first the facial tics and body mannerisms of Jerry and Lester were too similar for me. The no spine having, bumbling salesman act had already been done. I'll definitely agree that Lester has completely changed and become quite the doppelganger.
Although now, Im disappointed that they have introduced another pregnant cop that will inevitably solve the case.
Are these just two variations of the same story?
