For the purposes of Animal Archive allowed magic item slots does the Griffon count as an Avian or a Quadraped (claws/paws)? For PFS, the feats for the extra slots must be purchased.
Pro Avian: the griffon has wings and flies. Pictures of griffons sometimes show them holding objects in one of their talons; the Avian entry has a *, which allows it to hold an object in a claw, whereas the Quad (claws) does not.
Pro Quad (claws): on the ground, a griffon walks on 4 claws.
The same question would probably apply equally to a hippogriff. wings, 2 claws, 2 hooves... Avian, Quad (claws), or Quad (hooves)?
The difference is that the Avian can use belts (not just saddles) and rings, while the Quad can use saddles (only) and Shoulder items.

Is there a pfs legal way to get one of these things?
It starts with armor and neck slots either way.
Avian:Armor, belt, chest, eyes, headband, neck, ring, wrist
Quad: Armor, belt (saddle),chest, eyes, headband, neck, shoulders, wrist
I would lean heavily towards quadraped, because you're going to want to put a magic saddle on that thing so do you don't fall off, and its closer to the general body type. (adding wings is a smaller change than adding a whole nother half of a body)
I don't know what it could gain by holding something anyway: it wouldn't be able to activate a want or any other magical items really*.

Monsterous Mount feat in Inner Sea Combat nets you a griffon or hippogriff Monsterous Mount Mastery (level 7) lets it fly while you ride it. You also need few skills for the griffon.

Belt lets an animal use any belt item in the belt slot (including saddles); belt (saddle) only allows saddles. Either can still use a non-magic saddle.
I'm not completely sure how useful having it hold a wand would be (since they can't use them in PFS), but it is mentioned on the inside cover section of Animal Archive. Recovering objects, maybe.
