Silver Crusade 2/5

I missed the last morning of the con so I didn't get to tell you in person. But I think you deserve to know, you inspired my LN fire slinging stone oracle/monk to shift alignment to LG and convert to the worship of Sarenrae.

Anyone else want to share awesome stories of characters being influenced by other players you have met?

Shadow Lodge 3/5

What inspired your character to convert?

Can't ask others to share stories when you haven't shared your own !

Dunno about influenced per se, but one of my characters started dating another player's character, and they sort of have a kid. He's still the same alignment and pretty much the same guy, but he's now ferociously and overly possessive of the other character.

My cleric of Pharasma gained a few converts thanks to Bonekeep.

One of my characters now has a rather impressive disdain for those who practice any of the recreational arts, especially the accordion, after having to drag a certain Bard kicking and screaming through Masters of the Fallen Fortress. I had to use 20 of my wand charges before figuring out it was easier to literally chain him to me and just continue on my way.

My cleric of Hanspur has converted a barbarian and an eidolon so far...

Silver Crusade 2/5

It was not one single action, more the fact that he didn't complain once about my characters utter abuse of the life link, and doing possibly reckless things.

My character was so inspired by a local dwarf rogue's incredible talent at dying and coming back time and time again that she had a banner made so that others might witness the dwarf's fierce will to live and be thus heartened.

A maroon dwarf dormant-en-feu on an argent field, behind is a black tower. Maroon for patience in battle, black for constancy and grief and silver for peace

Or a dying blood-red dwarf in front of Skyreach. The dwarf is in a fetal position and on fire.

My priestess of Shelyn picked up a temporary feat from Crystal's Harrowing at the Grand Convocation, and she chose Heighten Spell. She has been handing out Heightened continual flame each scenario, asking in return only that the player describe a loving act of compassion that their PC performs, invoking Shelyn's name. That's harder for some PCs than others! So far, no converts to Shelyn. Another cleric of Iomedae in our region managed to convert a CN witch to worship the Inheritor (and slowly strive to switch to LN) through his amazing support abilities.

Mark, I have a Cleric of Desna with one level of Sorcerer and the Blood Money spell. I was going to be handing out Continual Flames for free, but now I think I'll charge... one story of a far off place the PC has traveled to that my cleric has not.

Me: You want one of my Eternal Flames? Tell me a story of a far off place, if I like it, you can have one.

Of course this is also my "Blond" Cleric, who once almost drown a Halfling who's head was "On Fire" (continual flame on his hat.) by casting create water over his head.

The Dawnflower played such a part in my life (that is, continuing it)- -in particular a long string of adventuring beside a cleric who insisted we call her "Kyra"- -veneration of Serenrae became part of my life.

A certain paladin of Shelyn had a very big effect on my gnome gunslinger/inquisitor of Abadar. When one guy stood up and objected to a certain wedding on the grounds that it wasn't true love...

She stood up and said that as a holy warrior of Shelyn, she could not abide it either.

It really encouraged Rigarius to stand up for what he believed was right, and encouraged his alignment shift to LG from LN.

Carla hated gnomes and dwarves because of simple ignorance and egocentrism.

But then a gnome druid covered her dying body with hers to prevent a lucky archer from coup de grace-ing her. Shortly afterwards, another gnome (a paladin of erastil) singlehandedly protected her paralyzed body from the raping tongues of two vargouilles. This changed her.

But then it happened: while drowning in a pot of boiling demonic liquid (for those who know the rules concerning being submerged into hot stuff... I was lvl 3) after failing 3(!) Saves, the paladin mentioned above risked her own life to dive in and drag my burned body (at -11) from the boiling goo. After falling 20 feet into more boiling goo the dwarven ranger risked his and his animal companions life by wading in and dragging her body from the edge of death using a clw wand. I left het horrible burns intact to remind myself of their courage. Carla cried in secret. She has vowed to never make fun of the smaller peoples again and is considering the worship of erastil. :-)

1. My bard, Shika, will not go near boats OR female dwarves anymore due to reoccurring nightmares that shall not be spoke of in public...

2. My half-elf alchemist, Breaux, now hates paladins because two of them killed this really hot female half elf he wanted to take out to dinner. She made really tasty tea too. /le sigh.

1d4Con Bonekeep runs were pretty great for me, there was a lot of fun to be had. I particularly enjoyed the party of:

Dwarven Cleric
Human Barbarian (invuln rager) with adamantine greatsword
Bladebound Magus
helpful halfling bard
mad bombing alchemist
and me - the witch.

All of those characters were worth their salt in the end. However, the helpful halfling really shined.

An eidolon? lol I'd be interested to hear the story.

I have just started my cleric of Hanspur (that is to say she is level 4 and I've played her once).

-12 swim score. Profession(lifeguard)

Heh. That's like my Cleric of Naderi who at the beginning of every session informs the group that if she should drown, she is not to be revived. She has Profession: (End of Life) Counselor.

In one of my earliest sessions with my first character (a Cleric of Cayden Cailean,) I converted a dwarven drunken master monk to my religion. I think my vivid description of all the free beer that was served at CC religious festivals had something to do with it....

I finally just figured out that 1d4 is the name of a convention, not that the cleric heroically went to save you with only 1d4 con remaining.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

Yeah, that had me thrown for a bit too.

I played several sessions with a summoner and a barbarian. I routinely dump either the corpses or at least the heads of my dead enemies into flowing water as a sacrifice to Hanspur. The barbarian and the summoner's eidolon are so bloodthirsty that they have taken to joining in on my prayers to Hanspur. It's gotten to the point that even if I'm not playing, the eidolon and the barbarian deposit the remains of their conquered enemies into the nearest bit of flowing water. I thought it was pretty hilarious.

Speaking of which Nick, They need to be ready for bonekeep soon, my oracle wants to get face rolling in the dungeon o doom...

My gun priest of Pharasma had a romanticized outlook on his dream of becoming an undead slayer. Then he encountered a wight and a shadow on his very first adventure. He helplessly watched the shadow instantly take the life of a young kitsune sorceress, who later became a shadow herself. Her death had a major impact him, especially considering he arranged her funeral and had to rest for over a month to recover from ability damage. He's now struggling to keep his easy-going demeanor.

In The Godsmouth Heresy, my crossbow-wielding rogue character got into a friendly competition with the accompanying gunslinger. he was inspired to switch his training to gunslinger upon leveling up.

At a recent convention a third level character was critted by an enemy with a greataxe and died instantly. He had not enough prestige or gold to get raised, but another player on the table used the Debt to Society boon he had just aquired and paid 20 of his own prestige to get the character raised. Both players had never met before that game, so it wasn't the case of one friend helping another friend, but one random pathfinder helping another pathfinder.

5/5

That's outstanding, Auke. I like hearing stories like that.

I hate to be that guy, but the guide to Organised Play to me would suggest that another character CAN'T pay for your Resurrection with prestige.

Guide says that the character that died can spend prestige to resurrect. Then in next paragraph or two it states that other players at the table can't pool prestige to raise someone else.

I'm aware another character outright paid the entire cost (so no pooling per se) but I still am not sure if that is allowed or just a loophole.

Indeed, normally you can't. That's why he had to use the Debt to Society boon as well.

My half-orc drunken brute Dumb Smash (first time out his int got reduced to 3 and he wields a lucerne hammer) has always had a problem with doorknobs. I'm not sure if a doorknob looked at him funny when he was younger, or maybe he got hit with a nasty trap from a doorknob, or he just never figured out how they're supposed to work. He prefers making his own hole in the wall, or breaking the door down.

Until he came across a Hand of the Mage. Now Dumb have SUPERHUMAN DOOR KNOB POWER!!! RRAAAAARGGHHH!

Thanks to the conline folks for running the Bonekeep BBQ chicken incident of 2014.

2 axe beaks and Tengu were seasoned with seven herbs and spices then BBQ'd with ruthless efficiency that would have made Colonel sanders proud.
