Looking at table 2-2 in ultimate combat it lists the difficulty class for making firearms, however the gunsmithing feat allows you to make firearms and ammunition without craft checks (and supposedly without said crafting skill) so what is the purpose "Craft(Firearm)" ?
Qualifying for the "master craftsman" feat so you don't have bribe local wizards to enchant your guns ?

If a non-caster, such as a Gunslinger, wanted to craft her own magical firearms, then she'd probably pick Craft (firearms) for her Master Craftsman craft skill.
So while she can make the base item quickly using the gunsmithing feat, she'll need ranks in Craft (firearms) to meet the magic item crafting DCs (to avoid making a cursed item or failing, etc).
Otherwise, it's a skill mostly for the gun crafter NPCs of Alkenstar Gunworks to make their weaponry, perhaps. Or maybe they have the gunsmithing feat, and others outside Akenstar who've reverse engineered how they work might have the craft skill. *shrug*
It's similar to the Master Alchemist feat, in that "the feat" gives an accelerated method of making the stuff, while "the skill" is relegated to the regular method.

The real question is; can a mythic crafter/crafting mastery person who can make "any magic item without the item creation feat" make magical firearms without either of these skills/abilities? (and maybe without ever having seen a gun... lol)
And how much does a adamantine Fabricated masterwork firearm go for anyway?
