Preserving my Character Folio quality

Product Discussion

I just bought my first character folio. I do think it's a pretty quality product.

But I'm a little unsure how it will hold up to repeated writing, erasing, and re-writing.

I'm normally a pencil guy, but I have a bad feeling that that will tear it apart, eventually.

Does anyone have any advice on preserving the condition of the folio?

Scan and print :)

for the hard copy of the book. Short of scanning it, I would separate the pages and laminate them. Scanning them is a good thing too. :)

Then again buying the PDF is great as you can print unlimited copies of it then as well :)
Either way good luck!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Back in the day, we used scotch tape on our character sheets (the old yellow-orange ones) over the spots where we expected to erase and rewrite frequently. It did a good job of preserving the paper, holds the pencil marks well, and is easy to erase.

I used one for our Jade Regent campaign and it worked for 17 level ups and countless rewrites for upgraded equipment etc no problem. The one I'm using for our Carrion Crown campaign has also held up perfectly through 9 levels.

The pdf might be a good investment.

^^^^ +1

If you like the layout, the PDF only costs $7 plus the cost of paper and toner ("free," if you work in an office).

I got the print version to qualify for the free reroll during PFS scenarios (since the Dogslicer Ale T-shirt seems to be permanently sold out), but I find that I don't really use the portfolio much in-game. The folders built into the cover are too small to hold standard letter paper, so I still need a binder or second folder for my chronicle sheets. I also find that the gloss on the cover doesn't hold pencil (or ink for that matter) very well, so I tend to use my own printouts in-game and keep the folio in the back of my PFS binder in case I need to use the reroll.
