Way of the Wicked Recruitment.

Recruitment

1 to 50 of 152 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | next > last >>

Hello!

I’m opening recruitment to my WotW game.

Those are the current players:
Seren - Oracle
Nahia - Witch
Zerik – Ranger(urban)

We have a heavily RP focused campaign, if you only want to roll dices; this is not the game for you.

Still here? Okay!
I’ll be recruiting one, two or three players, I’m still not sure!
To apply this is what you need:
1-Create a background:
This must tell us why you are a bad person, about your family, how you got the skills you have, what crime you committed, how you got caught, and how you escaped the salt mines where you have been sent after being sentenced to a life-time of slave work.
2-Character concept:
What you char do? What you want him to do? What party role he fills?
3-Crunch:
You do not need to create an Alias for recruitment, but you must provide a crunch for you character. Power builders will not be considered. You char starts at level 4, with 2500gp as starting gold.
4-Races:
It can be anything you want, but the rarer, more you have to work with your background to compensate for it.
5-Classes:
Anti-paladin is allowed. Paladin is a banned class.
No summoners, gunslingers, samurais or ninjas. No playtest stuff.
6- Alignment:
You must be LE. Even if the class you want to get says otherwise, I’m telling you that you need to be LE. In other words, it does not matter the class, your Alignment will be LE.
7-Questions?
Drop me a line!

Recruitment will be open until Friday, March 28.

Grand Lodge

Let me open my way of the wicked folder of possible characters. I think I will try out the anti-paladin. Always wanted to play one.
Do you mind of I have DM knowledge of the game?

Hey DM,

I am very interested in this. I read your house rules and your style of GMing fits perfectly with my style of play.

I'll probably come up with an inquisitor but I'll think it over and put something together this weekend.

Game on!

Fabian

Hey DM,

Here's the fluff for the character I am proposing.

I still need to know a bit more about the campaign so we can provide a decent hook as to why he joins up with the current players.

Did you have any ideas?

Fausto:

APPEARANCE

Fausto is a man marked by hard lines, both in his face and in his body. His face is older beyond his years as is common in people that spend a lot of time outdoors. He keeps his hair short and sports a goatee. He seldom smiles and when he does it’s more unsettling than it is warm and welcoming.

The outdoors keeps the man in top shape; hard, lean muscle covers his thin frame. He is usually dressed in dark colors to better blend in the night. He is never far from his greataxe and his short composite bow.

Picture here.

BACKGROUND (as told by Fausto)

I was born in a brothel or so I’ve been told my whole life. I don’t remember my mother... I don’t remember much from those early days. The streets of Daveryn were my early tutor and she was hard. I do remember the brothel and the other bastards I shared the place with. Most of them didn’t make it past their early teens; the streets were hard indeed. But I learned. If it was one thing I learned was to get up again and to hold a grudge and to fight and to lie and.... I guess that harsh mistress taught me lots of things. Those streets taught me to survive.

And after a while, I started doing alright for myself. I was one of the local thugs on the streets but not just any thug; I was strong, like many others, but I was also wise and I kept on learning. That was when s!#! hit the fan. It was when a new magistrate was elected to the city council. A magistrate straight from the cursed church itself, a magistrate that wanted to clean up the streets, to do away with the brothels and the thugs. So we became hunted, hunted by Mitra’s finest. Regular patrols of paladins and knights scoured the streets but we soon learned to avoid them. It was the other cursed men that we couldn’t avoid, the holy inquisitors. They were somehow able to find us, discern our lies, and I swear it was as if they smelled us out. I hated them with all my heart, almost as much as I admired them.

When things seemed bleakest, an old man showed up and took us underground. After he proved himself by killing one of the toughest member of my gang, he led us away and promised to teach us ways to fight back, ways to fool and kill the holy inquisitors. So the few of us that had survived went away and lived in caves in the mountains west of Daveryn. Out there in the wilds, the church of Mitra had no claim and the patrols were happy to have cleaned up the city proper.
There in those caves was where my real education started. I was taught about the Great One and His power. We learned how to call on his power. I was singled out and taught about men, specifically Mitra’s Chosen. I learned about their manners, what they ate, what they feared, where they hid, and best of all, I learned how to kill them. And I learned well.
It wasn’t long before I was back in the city doing what I loved best, killing Mitra’s finest. Until one day, I was given the honor to take out Cardinal Oestes; the man seemed cut from angelic cloth but I knew that his vices were well-hidden, another hypocrite. The job was going well, too well now that I think on it, up until I snuck into his private chambers. It was there that they were waiting for me, three of Mitra’s finests paladins. I didn’t go down without a fight but, in the end, I was captured, sentenced to a life time of slave labor in the salt mines, which meant I would die within the next five years.

But here I am, on the streets again after only a couple of months. And I am out looking for revenge on those that set me up and on Mitra’s finests; Cardinal Oestes should be afraid, very afraid.

[NOTES]
1) Fausto was convicted on Attempted Murder charges.
2) I picked Daveryn as his city of origin without knowing much about the city. Feel free to suggest another city if the above assumptions don’t fit with yours or the official version for Daveryn.

PERSONALITY

Fausto is pragmatic when it comes to his ’job’. He likes to have as much information as possible about what he’s going to do. However, once a course of action has been chosen, he performs with a single-minded determination until it is over.

The man has a vicious streak to him that sometimes shows itself in his treatment of other people, especially those he deems his prey. He enjoys psychological torture over physical torture but has been known to practice the latter when required.

He becomes a religious zealot when it comes to Mitra’s Chosen and for these people he reserves a special kind of hatred. He believes most of them are hypocrites that pay lip service to their deity to further their own gain.
Although mostly forgotten by now, the taunts ’bastard’ and ’son of a whore’ have a special meaning in his life and Fausto tries hard to stay focused when provoked in that manner.

CHARACTER CONCEPT

I built Fausto as a decent front-line melee type. He also has spells and can serve as a secondary healer/buffer. His skills at intimidate and tracking should come in handy. He can also be a secondary party face (high sense motive), an ugly/intimidating face.

Please let me know if you need further information at this time.

Happy gaming!

Fabian

Ah, I forgot to mention:

Abilities scores: 25pt buy or Focus and Foible. Your choice no re-rolls.

Hey there - I've got a second level character (this alias) in a current WotW game, but the DM seems to have disappeared. Anything in this build you'd have a problem with? There's lots of background on how a tiefling managed to stay hidden in Talingarde, and it provides nice fodder for his hatred of those goody-two shoes Mitrans.

I like RP'ful games, and would enjoy keeping WotW going. How far into the AP are you guys?

Is the hp going to be half-HD +1 on lvl gain?
If we choose the F&F method, can we allocate the results as we like or will they be fixed?

Not so far away. They escaped the prison. Passed the Cardinal Test, Delivered an weapon supply to Sakkarot-Fire-Axe in the north. Now, they just arrived in Aldencross, and are planning how to throw open the gates.

Roll for HP.

You cannot allocate the results, you use then in the other they appears.

Very interested in this game. I'm thinking a half-orc barbarian with the Beast totem archetype. I would do Focus and Foible. Will work on the concept.

my idea is for mysty to start out as a rogue convicted for arson, multiclassing a bit in sorceror (elementalist) for that extra fire. Somewhat prone to unwise actions, especially with fire. sorry, forgot to say she is a halfling.

Grand Lodge

Here is my Character, Mysty
She is a rogue 3/Sorcerer 1 (Efreeti bloodline)

concept:

Mysty's role fills the basic rogue slot. She is an excellent trap remover, with good perception and excellent disable devices. She is also a backup arcane caster, with a love of fire in all her plans. An excellent planner, fire always ends up being part of it. Her damage output in a fight is low, unless she can surprise or flank an opponent, then it improve markedly. She has many skills that are useful.

Motivation:

Mysty wants wealth, and revenge against all her in her mind wronged her. And she wants to burn them as part of that revenge. She was accused of being a servant of Asmodeus in her heart, so she decided (on given the opportunity) to do so. He is not merciful, but he does seem fair. She loves planning and organization, and gets upset when chaotic elements wreak her plans. Oh, and fire. She likes fire. Call it her bloodline.

background:

Background
Mysty had been on the streets her entire life. She had learned a thing or to. One of these things was to listen to her instincts, but unfortunately sometimes she acted before thinking. This was a case in point. She was given a job to steal a golden cup from the cathedral, with an offer of good reward AND cash up front. Her instincts said be careful, but her heart said gimmi. Especially if she could acquire other loot on the way. The plan was good, and a good fire would cause a distraction while she slipped in, swiped the cup and whatever else she could, and then spend, spend, spend. .

But the plan didn't allow for another Thieves gang group to have the same idea. Disorganisation, she hated it. It still might have been salvaged if it wasn't for those meddling kids. Seeing the other group the kids screamed to high heaven, and then there were guards, priests, glowing light ball things, the other thieves and a friking PALADIN. Even then, she might have just walked out, after all she was an innocent bystander. Then the cathedral caught on fire! Oops the distraction, heh,heh well she had to have some fun. Racing through falling embers and smoke, Mysty decided to go for the cup, as the thieves gang fought priests and guards, with that Paladin choping his way through them. Then as per the plan, she used the fire and conflict to cover her escape. Then a few stabbed guards, and a busy body priest sliced and she was off. But she was spotted, those idiot kids again, and suddenly she was being chased by what seemed like every guard and religious person in Talingarde.

I mean really. She is just a thief. It's not like she did anything really wrong. Now she had knights and inquisitors and bounty hunters and probably flaming angels of mitra chasing her. The only way to cover her retreat was to throw the damn cup as a distraction. Time to get out of here. She got back to her room in time to grab her gear, .She left through the hatch in the floor to the sewers just as the door was smashed in. She heard the WHOOMPH of the alchemist fire trap she had set. Try track her now, mitran scum. But that damn Paladin was waiting for her in the sewer, with a group of priests and Inquisitors. One spell later and she was paralyzed.

During the trial she was condemned as a habitual criminal and an arsonist. She wasn't even allowed a lawyer, just a damn priest who pleaded guilty on her behalf and begged for mercy. Apparently lawyers are all servants of the devil. And according to the trial so was she. She was sentenced to death, by burning. So it was all over. She was given no chance for clemency, or well, anything . She was sent to brandscar to die.

If she gets the chance she'll burn them all, every temple of Mitra, every priest, every paladin. All those who abandomed her. All of them.
But she really should have trusted her instincts

In the other game I played we were allowed two extra skill points. Do we get those?

Sure

This Arch is allowed.

Yes, but don’t worry about then now. :)

Ok then

If you're still looking, I'd love to make something for this. I have in mind either a Fighter or Barbarian, with the possibility of a Magus as well. If you're still open then I'll have a background and concept up ASAP.

Thinking of a nagaji rogue, going into assassin at lvl 5. Probably have him done tomorrow.
Hp calc: 1d8 + 3d8 + 8 ⇒ (6) + (6, 2, 2) + 8 = 24

I have something martial in mind. Let's see what the dice say.

Str 18
Dex 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Con 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

Oooooh, that works out pretty well. I'll put something together before Friday.

I've never used F and F to generate stats before. We still add racial adjustments eh?

GM, are drawbacks allowed?

Made the HP calc wrong, the 1st d8 would be 8 as first lvl.
Along with HP modifiers from fav class bonus HP would become 30.

I'm going to step down here so good luck to the rest of you.

Happy gaming!

I've made a level 3 Flowing/Vow/Qinggong MONK and a 1 Unarmed Fighter. His name is Kung "the Typhoon" Moon. His background, crunch, and motivations are below.

BACKGROUND:

Kung “The Typhoon” Moon was born into a poor rice farming family. They planted rice. They ate rice. They watched rice grow. Kung Moon was bored to tears with rice, rice, rice. He decided that there needed to be more to life than rice. So, at the age of seven, he left early in the morning and found snakes in the bushes past the rice fields, put them in a basket, then dropped them off in his neighbor’s rice field. While working his father’s rice field, he giggled at the thought of his neighbor coming across the snakes, and kept both eyes and ears ready to hear the scream. In the early afternoon, he heard a scream; Kung Moon smiled and ran to see what happened. Sure enough, his neighbor was bitten by a snake. Kung Moon grabbed the snakes and put them into his basket.

At the funeral for the neighbor, his wife said “Kung Moon was brave for such a young boy gathering the snakes”. After the funeral, many came up to Kung and congratulated him on his bravery facing the snakes. Kung Moon smiled. He liked getting this attention. He found more snakes and threw them in the fields of other neighbors, and when they saw the snakes, they called for Kung Moon to come get them. It was said in the region that Kung Moon was half snake given how easy it was for the young boy to find and gather up the snakes. Kung was a local hero at the young age of eight.

Kung Moon wasn’t known for being the smartest boy, since all he did was grow rice and catch snakes. Kung played his trick one too many times, and a local rice farmer recognized the snakes as being the same snakes Kung Moon found a week earlier in another rice farmer’s field. Kung Moon went from local celebrity hero to villain instantly, and thrown in jail for his crimes. He was sentenced to life of hard labor, working, ironically enough, in the emperor’s rice field. There, he was beaten by the other prisoners who were larger and stronger than Kung Moon. Kung Moon got his name “The Typhoon” because he would always spin like a whirlwind when punched in the face by the other, older prisoners.
But Kung Moon knew rice better than anyone; he had played with it all his life. Once he had hidden in a mound of dry rice from his father, with only a hollow reed used to breathe. But the emperor’s rice was so large, it would be easy to bury oneself and hide. Once he found a long bamboo reed, he knew it was his time to escape and jumped in a half-filled rice container, buried himself deep in the rice with his bamboo reed to breathe. Kung Moon didn’t just escape the emperor’s rice field, he was carried out!

Once he got out of the rice field, he knew he had to learn how to fend for himself. He pretended to be an orphan and went straight to the monastery. There, he grew into a man, learning the ways of unarmed combat. Bored with his training, he found some snakes in the garden, and thought he would plant them in the temple, and then save the monks with his snake skills. But a half blind monk saw Kung Moon gather the snakes. “Interested in snakes?” he asked. “Why yes, master, I find them fascinating.” “I can teach you more about snakes. You can eventually learn to mimic their ways.” “Old man, teach me now!” “No! You must first learn to be calm and understand others.”

Kung Moon stayed to learn more from the old man, waiting for him to teach him about snakes. Unfortunately, the old man never did. Growing frustrated, he put snake venom in the old man’s tea. However, Kung Moon was amazed when the old man didn’t die (monk masters are immune to that he later learned). Embarrassed that he couldn’t play the hero who tried to save his master, he left the monastery in search of a different trainer. Now older and looking different in his monk outfit, he went back to his father’s rice farm. There, he met an older man working the farm. The older man told the monk about the poor boy who used snakes to kill the neighbors. Kung Moon laughed inside, knowing that he was the boy. The old man said that the boy should have learned more about snakes. Intrigued, Kung Moon asked if the older man knew much about snakes. “Sure do. I know how to fight like one!” “Teach me!” Kung begged. The old man taught the boy about Snake Style. Once he learned the style, Kung again tried to poison him with snake venom in the tea. This time it worked. The old man laughed as he died. “I am your father, you didn’t even recognize me Moon.” For the first time, Kung was horrified that he killed his father, and ran away, traveling the world.

Amazingly, Kung “the Typhoon” Moon quickly got over killing his father. It was his father’s fault for making Kung Moon work in a rice field, boring him to death, forcing him to do the things he did. If his father had been important, Kung Moon would have had a more normal childhood. Kung swore never to have a boring life and to acquire wealth so that his children won’t live a boring life, and Kung swore to achieve this any way possible.

MOTIVATION:

Kung "the Typhoon" Moon likes to be the hero, even if it means causing the problem in the first place. He'll set a fire, only to be the one on scene to stop it. He'll poison a man, only to be the one who tries to save him. He craves the hero worship. He believes there should be wealth gained for being a hero. He also likes to think of himself as a snake.

CONCEPT/ROLE TO FILL:

Kung "the Typhoon" Moon jumps into the middle of fights, tripping people and striking them as they stand up. He's an in-your-face kind of kung-fu fighter, but uses grace instead of power. He also uses Snake Style. Eventually, he'll be making people miss, and then hitting them as an AoO when they do. He wants to be the focus of the enemy. It's his hero complex.

I may have to steal Kung Moon to play in my tabletop game sometime. What an interesting character story!

Thanks. It's a version of Munchausen by proxy syndrome (MBPS). Causing harm in others, only for the attention one receives by caring for the harm you caused. It's one of the most sadistic forms of child abuse known to man IMHO.

Okay! Two more days! I'll post a bit later what we have until now! :)

Yep, you still have then!

Great, thanks for the reply. I have an urban ranger in mind; he is basically a crooked cop but I'm a little concerned about how far I can push the envelope with adult themes. He will be a serial killer who is able to use his knowledge and training to sanitize his crime scenes. When his crimes are less than perfect he will use his position as an authority figure to misdirect investigations and cover his tracks. Obviously, he will have had to screw up badly enough that he was caught in order to fit the AP.

The thing I'm struggling with is that his evil will have sexual undertones--he gets off on controlling and hurting women, as is a common characteristic among serial killers. I am concerned about the overarching message board policy that restrict this sort of conversation. Should I continue creating this character? I can spoiler everything that might be considered too disturbing or inappropriate to ensure readers know exactly what they are getting themselves into with my posts but not sure if this will be enough to comply with Paizo's policies. I'm thinking you might have considered this sort of situation when you decided to run an evil themed AP....

Grand Lodge

Hey, my character is an arsonist who has no problem burning people alive for wealth and power. You'll fit right in.

Hmm...I'll bite. Hopefully this one will get a chance to go somewhere this time.

*has been in a couple of WotW games that died*

Here's my submission (who has also been in a couple WotW games that died).

Rose is very tied into the story and setting, being that she's Cardinal Thorne's daughter. Her concept is pretty straight forward, but will definitely require GM approval because of her story ties.

Her party role is as a frontline melee combatant and as a party "face"

As for myself, I'm an avid and reliable poster. If you pick me for your game I promise I will not disappoint you.

Str: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Dex: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Con: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Int: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Wis: 8
Cha: 18

Edit: Crunch complete.

I'm really struggling over whether to do a 25 point buy or F&F. As well as a character concept.

Just saw that Seren, your Oracle is also an Angel-Blooded Aasimar. Neat stuff.

I don't want to step on her toes at all. Would there be a way to work our back stories together somehow?

Based on the two concepts I see a lot of roleplaying potential. Two angelic devotees of Asmodeus in the same group could be interesting. :)

a lot of things

You can be Bad to the Bone, but most of the times, your success depends on you being able to pass unnoticed. Being evil for evil sake is something I am trying to avoid in this game. Why would you steal the lollipop from the child when you can kill its father? Destroy its family? Kill all his friends and let it to suffer, alone and afraid?

Every gaming group has norms of acceptable behavior whether they realize it or not. For example, graphic descriptions of torture are rarely welcome. Still, there may be a compelling reason why villains need to torture someone. And why shouldn’t you? You’re villains after all. But if this is allowed unchecked, it is very likely that lines will be crossed and that the campaign may degenerate into out-of-character arguments about what is acceptable. The solution is to allow the action but to keep the descriptions and details in the realm of a PG-13 movie.
A great example of PG-13 villainy comes from the most famous space opera of all time. The black clad villain about to interrogate the princess strides into her cell.
“And now, your highness,” he announces, “we will discuss the location of your hidden rebel base…” The movie then cuts away with a close up of a fearsome floating torture implement sporting a cruel hypodermic needle.
The cut is the important lesson. Who knows what the villain did to the princess? Was she threatened, beaten, drugged or worse? Doubtless. But the movie doesn’t dwell on the specifics and neither should the game. Instead, roll an intimidation skill check. Then cut back to the villain emerging from the cell.
“Her resistance to the mind probe is considerable,” our villain was forced to admit. Failure.
Even the greatest of dark lords have their bad days.

One other thing I would like to note is that the party has two demanding/commanding woman (Seren/Nahia) and I think it will really be hard to fit your concept in the party.

I'll post some feedbacks in some hours. I've been really busy this week. I apologize.

Roll F&F, if you don't like your numbers, change to 25pt buy.

Thanks again for the reply, DM Aku. You've given me some food for thought. I'm back to the drawing board to see what else I can come up with but time is running short. Although I remain interested, I may have to bow out.

If i can finish the nagaji, i think he'd argue with them. "nobody" save the great dark one makes demands of him. :)

There's a big difference between purposeful and calculated tyranny (the sort Asmodeus is all about) and the small scale evil of a deranged mind.

They could definitely overlap, but this adventure path is far more about the former than the latter.

Okay, now is time to some Feedback!

Misty: I liked you background and you char is really well made, I just would like to see it changed to match what I asked: You were not in brandescar, but you escaped from the salt mines. How you escaped would be cool to read too.

Moondragon Starshadow – Char: KUNG MOON
Well, this is a difficult one. I liked some parts of the history. It did not meet my requirements about crime/prison but that can change. Just one thing that I really do not liked: Multiclass + 3 different archs in a monk character. But I’ll take some time to look at the crunch in more detail. About the motivation, I think it will be fun (and potentially dangerous) see the villain playing the hero! :D

Lady Rose:
I must confess: Im troubled and in love with your char history. It has a really potential to go astray. But I found it cool. There are some things in the NPC attitudes that I would need to change (since there’s no way ever Tiadora would be your lover. Besties? Yes. Lover? Nops!) and sir Balin is already dead. But I liked her really. :D It would be cool to ready how you did in the salt mines and how you escaped.

For now, we have only three complete submissions, because of that, I’m extending recruitment until Monday, march 31.
