Why is Life Link automatic. Doesn't it take a Standard Action to use it?

Life Link is the main reason Life Oracles make the best healers. Life Link requires a Standard Action to activate, but lasts until you turn it off. Activate Life Link on your ally(s) over breakfast, then keep it going all day. As long as it is active, whenever the target of Life Link is down 5 hp or more, that person heals 5 hp, and the Life Oracle takes 5 hp damage. Life Link essentially gives the target(s) Fast Healing 5, and transfers that damage to the Life Oracle. Life Link can be active on one ally per Oracle level, so it's practical even with only 1 or 2 Oracle levels.

Paladin Lay on Hands is a Swift Action when done on self. This is the perfect way to heal Life Link damage, as it leaves your other actions free. Only a Paladin of Level 2+ can self-heal as a Swift Action. A Life Oracle can't do this, and must expend an action to self-heal. The only semi-required feat is Fey Foundling, for +2 hp self-healing to each 1d6 of Lay on Hands.

I seem to recall a paladin with a dip into some other class that allowed it to have Charisma twice to his saves, and his charisma to AC, damage, attack, and initiative I believe.

Can't seem to find it, but it was a nice beefy build.

You can take the feat Noble Scion (War) at first level to replace Dexterity with Charisma to Initiative, and a one level dip in Lore Oracle to make Charisma replace Dexterity for AC and Reflex. I don't know where the rest would come from, other than 3.5.

Scarab Sages

I like the idea of the Divine Hunter Paladin built to Two Weapon Fight with thrown weapons in either melee or range. You can use the feats granted by the archetype to cover your ranged requirements and dedicate your feats by level to take care of the TWF. The TWF allows you to squeeze more damage out of your Smite, and Distant Mercy gives you an emergency way to save a party member who's gotten cut off from the group. Dual-wielding a weapon like the sibat could leave him with cool combat options and solid damage.
I'd probably go with human and a stat spread like:
Str: 15 (+2 Human) Dex: 17 Con: 12 Wis: 10 Int: 10 Cha: 15

Then a feat spread like:

1- Precise Shot (class), Two Weapon Fighting (human), Double Slice
3- Point Blank Shot
4- +1 Dex
5- Combat Reflexes
7- Improved Two-Weapon Fighting
8- +1 STR
9- Power Attack
11- Two Weapon Rend, gain Deadly Aim and Improved Precise Shot via Hunter's Blessing
12- +1 Dex
13- Greater Two-Weapon Fighting
15- 1 of the following- Opening Volley, Improved Critical, or Distance Thrower (I'd go with Opening Volley for some ranged tag and 5-foot step to finish a boosted full attack action, though Imp. Crit boosts your odds of triggering the sibat's grapple effect. Alternatively, you could grab Extra Lay on Hands for more healing.)
16- +1 Cha
17- Two Weapon Defense or any of the options from 15 you didn't go with.
18- +1 Dex
19- Rapid Shot or any of the 15 & 17 options.

Or something to that effect. You'd have a very competent switch-hitter capable of dishing out lots of damage with great defenses, and the potential to be an even better tank than a melee only build, especially if you get lucky with the sibat's crit ability.

Shadow Lodge

I'm rather fond of the Champion of Irori prestige class. Do it right and you can smite all day every day from level 7 up.
