Liberty's Edge 5/5

Hey everyone, I really want to create a new wizard character and would like part of the character to focus on improved familiar (Faerie Dragon) but while I know this is legal having seen players do it, I do not know the specifics of how it is possible. Can someone enlighten me. Do I need a particular boon (from that scenario for THAT Faerie Dragon) or do I just need the feat and 7th level wizard, what source do I need to own for it. Thanks in advance, this seemed PFS specific because I can't find Faerie Dragons on the normal improved familar list nor on the expanded list in Ultimate Magic.

You need a boon from a certain scenario that allows the use of a faerie dragon as familiar.

What Scenario has this boon?

It's from a PFS 1e scenario that is now about 9 years old. It is not usable in PFS 2e since they are different editions.

How to get Specific Familiars in PF2

Now if we're talking PF2, and you want a Specific Familiar (which can include Faerie Dragons or other cool creatures like Cerus (flying miniature elephants)) you can qualify for one of those as soon as you have the correct number of familiar abilities on your familiar.

This is usually done in one of several ways:

1) Be a Witch, because they get extra familiar abilities baked into the class. In addition, witches can take Improved Familiar feat that can allow them to access special familiars early.

2) Be a Wizard with Improved Familiar arcane thesis.

3) If your class offers it, take Enhanced Familiar feat, followed possibly by Incredible Familiar feat.

4) Take one of the archetypes that improves familiars, like Familiar Master.

(Elementalist and Shadowcaster also have the ability to improve familiar abilities, for familiars that fit their themes.)

I hope this helps!
Hmm

Just another thought that I had:

One thing you could also do in PF2 if you manage to garner 160 ACP for sprite ancestry and 4 ACP for a Hireling is to become a Faerie Dragon Wizard with a Human 'familiar'.*

_____
* With 'familiar' here being loosely applied to a friendly buddy who offers none of the normal benefits that familiars offer to player characters, but it sounds cool.
