Are there any nations in Golarion with a Celtic Feel?

Advice

Without having to build a whole setting from the ground up, are there any nations in Golarion with an Irish/Celtic type feel I can use as a starting point?

Silver Crusade

Old Sarkoris and the native Sarkori culture of Mendev are probably the closest to the mark. Old Sarkoris is pretty much wiped off the map at the moment, but remnants of the culture could still be found in the surrounding areas, particularly Mendev.

The Kellid(Sarkori) barbarian in our Wrath of the Righteous game is going all out woad-painted warrior at the very least. :)

kellid countries miiight count as some eastern celtic - proto-slavic - indo-european type of thing.
if you like your celts with a side or two of cimmerian.
i'm sure plenty of other RPG settings have such analogs though.

The Kellids are about as close as you're going to get, with their tribal focus and strong druidic ties.

No, Rome hasn't destroyed any part of Golarion or its culture yet. Sorry.

TY. I'm not finding any of this particularly inspiring though. I may just use geography and maps for places and add things as I go.

Good news is, they have Armored Kilts, so you're already part way there.

Now we just need stats for setting our hair on fire.

You seem kind of stuck on Scottish when I was talking about Irish. Similar origins, but still different.

I'm sure they wore skirty things in Ireland.

I'm not sure they wore anything in Ireland. At least not after happy hour.

Nope. Kilts were a Scottish thing that didn't become popular until the 1640s. The Irish did have long dress-like shirts called Leine, but a typical warrior would have worn a jacket and pants.

Irish wearing kilts is a common misconception, albeit with a tiny sliver of truth. The original inhabitants of Ireland did not wear kilts. The misconception stems from the fact that the English sent over the Ulster Scots (Protestants) to colonize Northern Ireland starting in 1609 as part of a scheme to confiscate all of the lands of the original Gaelic nobility (Catholic) in Ulster.

Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

There are as yet pretty much unexplored tribal peoples and cultures that existed in what is now Cheliax and Andoran (and environs) prior to being conquered by Taldan. These might make interesting Celtic analogs.

The peoples of Arcadia might also make for interesting Celt-types.

Ya this is definitely going to be pre-1600s. I was only looking through the Inner Sea Guide for this. I have a HD with paizo PDFs. If people can point to good paizo setting books for inspiration that would be great as well.

Yeah, I surmised that these folk were likely Kellid, or at least there were Kellid present in Southern Avistan along with any other mystery people. It's plausible this "branch" of Kellid could be appropriate to a Celtic analog. They now seem to be associated with the "underclass" especially in Taldor/Galt/(Andoren?), although the exact racial/linguistic/class status seems heavily blurred. Using a "historical" wind-back of the Golarion clock might allow the angle you are looking for. Besides the countries I mentioned, Galt, Druma, and Molthune could also have a "heritage" from that "native" culture.

Pictish warrior.
