Looking for advice on gear for a 5th level Wizard-Archer.

Advice

I have my PFS-style Arcane Archer. Basically straight Wizard focusing on being a Ranger.

Was trying to figure out what kind of other gears I should be working towards other than the basics of what I have; Ring of Protection, Amulet of Natural Armor, Bracers of Armor, Headband of Vast Intelligence, Belt of Giants Strength and an Adaptive Composite Longbow.

Worse part is the AC (17) since Wizards can't wear anything, but everything else is pretty good since their's Mage Armor & Shield. Just don't really know what I'm looking for since they banned Bracers of Falcon's Aim.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Mhatever mundane equipment is needed: extra clothes, a mule, food, waterskins, blanket, etc.

Handy Haversack, Efficient Quiver.
Several kinds of arrows, most mundane, some made of different materials and with different arrowheads and enhancements. A few bane arrows can make a difference. Actually, make it 2 or 3 efficient quivers.
Pearls of power, lvl 1.
Wands of lvl 1 utility spells, preferably ones that don't scale up with caster level much.
Scrolls or potions for highly situational spells, like: See invisibility, Spider climb, Remove Fear, Remove Paralysis, Lesser Restoration, Remove Blindness, Water Breathing, Fly, Cure Serious Wounds, Cure Light Wounds.
Traveler's any tool
Masterwork tools for any skills you are using lots of.
Antitoxin
Ring of sustenace
ghost salts, adamantine weapon blanch, alchemical silver weapon blanch, cold iron weapon blanch
Either Alchemists fire or a wand of burning hands to kill swarms.

Oops. Guess I should have been more clear. Was asking about wonderous/magic items specifically. Did not process the way I had it written but thanks lol

Either of these could be nice...

[b]Bracers of Archery, Lesser[\b]

Price 5,000 gp; Aura faint transmutation; CL 4th; Weight 1 lb.

These wristbands appear similar to greater bracers of archery, though they are typically constructed of lighter material. They function as greater bracers of archery, except they grant a +1 competence bonus on attack rolls and no bonus on damage rolls.

[b]Bracers of Falcon's Aim[\b]

Price 4,000 gp; Aura faint transmutation; CL 3rd; Weight 1 lb.

Each of these crimson leather bracers is emblazoned with the image of a soaring golden falcon scanning the ground for easy prey. They continually grant the wearer the benefits of the aspect of the falcon spell, though without the spell's physical transformation.

Scarab Sages

Note, if this is for actual PFS play, Bracers of Falcon's Aim is not legal.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

- Adjusting Composite Longbow

- Efficent Quiver

- I would definitely reccomend Bracer's of Falcon's Aim, but being as they are banned that wont help.

- Ring of Protection

- Bracers of Armor (Dont forget that on versions higher than +1 you can trade AC buff for special abilities with numerical equivalents, though mage armor is just better anyways until you get to higher levels)

- A couple basic wands (true strike is your friend)
Definitely a couble of Level 1 Pearls of Power (ad a level 2 if you can afford it)

Scarab Sages

Aspect of the Falcon is a very good spell though, even if the bracers are banned. You may want to consider taking a level of Magaambyan Arcanist to add it to your spell list.

Since you're going the Arcane Archer/Ranger route, have you thought about a Buckler? I *think* a masterwork/magic buckler has no armor check penalty, but worst case it's 5%. That will bump up your AC a bit, and a +1 Buckler is fairly cheap.

I did not know those were banned. Thank you for the info.
