How does one stop a Witch's Hex?

Advice

I've been searching the boards, and it seems like the witch hex isn't blockable or preventable.

It's up in the air whether Wall of Force stops one.

You can't silence a witch to stop a hex, you can't blind one to stop it, you can't deafen one.

They can hex when grappled etc.

Basically, without resorting to daze/stun/nauseated and the like, is there any way that a character can keep a witch at bay?

Do they need line of sight? Line of effect? or it's been argued that as long as a character is within 30-60ft, you're out of luck. You can pop a wall of stone up, but they should still be able to cast Ice Tomb somehow.

Any thoughts?

Shadow Lodge

Have high saves since most of the hexes that are used offensively target saves?

Stay more than 30ft away?

Have enough reach that for the witch to be within 30ft is unwise [even with humanoids, a cheap potion, reach weapon, armor spikes/bite attack and lunge can net you 25ft. threat range, which means that no matter what, the 30ft range hexes will be full-attackable within 1 round].

Greater Teleport?

Blind?[Yes, this does stop, since they don't know how to target you].

At least, these are my opinions on the subject.

Well, any anti-magic should do it. I would think any force effect that prevents a touch attack, at least in some cases (like blight) or anything that would increase a Will save in others (Evil Eye). I would definitely rule that anything requiring a Will save would also need line of sight, area-effect spells too. Touch attacks proabably would already have line of sight but I think if you need touch you don't need to include that (and you could have edge cases where someone invisible gets touched by a lucky witch, for example).

Anti-magic fields work definitely. Also I would think line of effect/sight is a clear must for most of them.

Burn the witch!

Have a higher initiative and squish 'em.
Most witches are quite squishy.
The scared witch isn't though. So always carry termites to eat their wooden mask.

But the best option is play a gnome with master tinkerer trait. Then you build a combine and mow the witch down, literally.

I think specific hexes can be blocked by specific things. Line of sight for Evil Eye, Silence for cackle, etc.

A thing to keep in mind, single target effects, unless specifically stated otherwise, require you to have a valid target before using.

Haha, I just think of scenarios where PC's could turn, and what one might need to do to defeat the party.

Wall of Force would block line of effect, but not line of sight. So would a hex work then?

It's arguable that a hex could work without line of effect as I imagine a witch could look through a glass window and hex someone.

An arcane caster could D-Door away and try to fireball from a distance, but the witch could close that gap by casting D-door as well.

A monk could possibly do it as their saves are quite high. Although, anyone else has weaknesses a witch can exploit. They use Misfortune one round, and then Ice Tomb the next. You're rolling twice and taking the lower number. The odds are not in your favor.
