So... yeah. How useful would an Archaeologist dip be? Add in the fate's favored trait and the lingering performance feat, and you have a swift action activate for three rounds of a +2 luck bonus on most things, useable four times a day, more with a charisma bonus. Slap that ability on a tactician fighter or any other full base attack build... is it worth it?
Or I guess I should ask, in what cases is it worth it, and if not, how would one make the dip Do More for a martial focused character?

It's not bad at all as long as you do have the trait and the feat. I'm not sure how "worth it" it is compared to keeping up on your normal progression and getting those class features a level sooner (also the loss of BAB). Really depends how much you value them. And also often the starting and expected ending level of the campaign....
As for doing more, the bard dip does open up a lot of class skill bonuses. And the dip means you can use wands and scrolls of bard spells, which can be very helpful.

Depends. If ur looking for a little boost to saves there are better options such as monk dip or half orc with same trait. If u want extra damage, attack, or skills inquisitor is a bit better since u get the domain up front.
The main thing is what is ur main character class or concept? If ur a martial fighter I'd say its more of taste than optimization as it is viable. Just getting bardic knowledge alone is nothing to sneeze at.

Yes even ignoring the skill access and such, Archaeologists Luck alone is a fantastic ability to have access to 4+ times a day for 3 rounds per use and boosts virtually every single thing you do... hit, damage, saves, skills.
It also opens up access to the spell Saving Finale once or twice a day, which is a huge bonus to help you avoid falling victim to SoS spells, let alone the access to wands of bard spells (Cure light!) as has already been mentioned.
