On an amusing related note I was recently GMing a PFS scenario and was thinking to myself, why in the world does this sorcerer have improved disarm? Stupid NPC design grumble grumble.
Then the PC gunslinger tumbled past the front line of bad guys and into a position the sorcerer couldn't get away from and readied to shoot him when he cast a spell.
The sorcerer then moved up and disarmed the gunslinger, grabbing the pistol in his off hand.
Finally I understood why NPCs sometimes have these strange options.

On the topic of amusing disarm stories...
Last night we fought some ghosts with ghost touch weapons, so my barbarian disarmed one so he could do full damage to it with it's own sword!
Its more fun when they disarm the ghost rager. Saw that happen once. Ever been so hungry you punch a ghost right in the face?

In what I bet was the same scenario, the Gunslinger walked up and fired point blank. "What's the worst that could happen? He's a Sorcerer." One successful Disarm AoO later, and I don't think I've ever seen anyone so surprised.

Though this is somewhat in regards of a GM star issue, this does pertain to the issue of using a GM star for Eyes of the Ten. Just confirming, a GM can not simply run Part 4 to get the end result stuff on the chronicle sheet, correct? Because if that works, then that seems like a really shady case of sniping for stuff.
Moreover in another case, to replay Eyes, all 4 parts, a person must have 4 stars, since each is a different scenario, correct?

Whew - I really feel a lot better hearing this and some others - I thought I was doing terribly running it at about 37 hours (over 4 weeks).
That reminds me, I keep forgetting to have all my PCs pick up potions/scrolls of entropic shield for when something like that finally shows up. ;)
No potions, it's personal ;)
Running Part I this Saturday for the second time! 6 player the first time had challenges in several parts (3 rangers, 1 rogue, 1 bard, 1 wizard). 6 players this time will have challenges in several different parts (cleric, oracle, summoner, wizard, rogue, fighter).

Well, Steve ran it over three Saturdays, 12 hours, 8 hours, and 12 hours (less, really). It was ... interesting, and one of the few times the PC I was using pulled out his longbow.
On entropic shield: Since it is a first level spell, it would be a nice candidate for the wand/cracked purple prism combo. 10 rounds shouod cover most any combat, in general.

It seems that the VC and VL in my area are stating that Eyes of the Ten are to be retired soon, probably by the end of this year, and are encouraging local players to aggressively level up their characters in order to play it by then.
I have not been able to get any second source backing up this information, and would really like to know if there's something else going on regarding this.

Mike and John have said that Eyes of the Ten is a little outdated because of the Shadow Lodge flavor, and a new series will be released eventually.
They have also said that when this new seeker arc comes out Eyes will be retired. Mike and John have not yet given a specific time frame when this new series will be released, and have promised a warning post/blog to give players near retirement enough time to level up and play Eyes before it is retired.

I'm going to make a suggestion.
Does every game-store group spend time in older seasons? Perhaps not, but a lot do. By my reckoning, conventions see most of their game play as recent scenarios, and game stores are still supporting Seasons 0 through 4, as well as Season 5. (There's just not enough recent material to give players enough adventures.
Are people still playing Season 2? Yes. In all it's Shadow Lodge-itude. (AJust as, at other tables, the Aspis Consortium is still trying to take over Magnimar and Riddleport.) Nobody is suggesting retiring all of Season 2, even though it's "a little outdated."
So, here's to a new Seeker / retirement arc. Let it be wonderful, and not tied in to any particular season's plotline. Erik wrote for the first one; could we get James Jacobs to write for the second one?
But don't retire "Eyes of the Ten", any more than you'd retire any other Shadow Lodge scenario. Those players who don't spend a lot of time in the crimson and blue seasons would find it sort of weird ("Who *are* these people?") and unattractive, so they'd play the second arc.
But I don't see anything wrong with giving people options.

It would, except that the vibrant purple prism (as well as its cracked variant) may only be filled by casting the spell or using a scroll.

Chris, I'm working from memory rather than a direct quote so I may be recollecting inaccurately but it was my understanding that a significant (the most significant?) reason Eyes was being retired is its 5 xp progression is a headache. Regardless of the appropriateness of its plot, and I believe it does feel dated even for those of us whose PCs spent a lot of time playing Season 1 and Season 2, the mechanical baggage of being a four-part arc with 5 xp rather than a three part arc with three xp is a major driver in why the next arc will also see Eyes retired (as opposed to seeing Eyes supplemented).

@Ryan: And that disallows using a wand just how?
The vibrant purple prism ioun stone functions as the ring of spell storing. The ring of spell storing states:
"A spellcaster can cast any spells into the ring... A spellcaster can use a scroll to put a spell into the minor ring of spell storing."
It specifies two methods of placing a spell in the ring, by casting a spell or using a scroll. It does not say that you can use a wand.

@Ryan: And that disallows using a wand just how?
If you read the sources you'll see the item specifically enumerates what methods may be used to fill it:
A spellcaster can cast any spells into the ring, so long as the total spell levels do not add up to more than three. Metamagic versions of spells take up storage space equal to their spell level modified by the metamagic feat. A spellcaster can use a scroll to put a spell into the minor ring of spell storing.
Because activating a wand is not casting a spell (its using a spell trigger completion method) and it is not specifically listed by the item, its a no-go.
@Silbeg: Woo! Finally a player! What now? WHAT NOW!?
Yeah... might need to take a breath on this one. Looking forward to Sunday though.

Like literally, there would be a psionic villain and he would just explode your head. First fight. Wait, scratch that. The combat would happen during the venture briefing.
Why wait that long? The character sign-in sheet can be an infernal pact binding their PC's souls in servitude for all eternity.

Thank you, couldn't have said it better.
I mean I would actually like to be able to be able to put more than one character through a retirement arc. There is no reason not to have this option.

I think you should still have enough time, since it seems you have a 10th level character, and we don't know EXACTLY when it will be retired, heck it hasn't even been announced officially yet.
Ahh, gotcha.
