interesting that 20% rather than 25% was cut in the cull this time... I wonder if that is an indication that the number of entries is down some from last year.
That's what I was thinking. I'm still not seeing many new items. I wonder if I have seen the lot.

The 60% against was the factor in whether or not an item was culled; it just so happened that that was about 20% of the items in the pool.
In other words, it's not a linear scale; if 70% against was the cutoff, perhaps only 10% would have been culled, and if 50% against was the cutoff, perhaps 40% or 45% would have been culled. It all depends on how the votes arranged themselves for and against the lowest-ranked items.
In other other words, the goal behind the cull was not to remove a certain number of items, but to remove items that had below a certain voter approval rating.

OK, then that would be in keeping with the overall improvement in quality over last year. Neat! :)

This. I will only be confirming anyone who asks whether they were past the cull or not. I won't be publishing the list of things I didn't see after the cull, as I might not see something that made it AND the people who were culled may not want criticism of their item.

Arrgg.... I was "lucky" to see my item three times by 600 votes. At close to 780ish votes was where I was pre-cull. Now at only 825ish votes, I wonder how long it will take to know if I made it... lol I must be a closet self-torturer to put myself through this... lol

I'm right there with you. I saw my item four times before reaching Marathon. Haven't seen it since.
It's gonna be a long night...

I'm already seeing newer and higher quality items. I don't know why I kept getting the same poor-quality ones over and over before, and not a better mix, but I approve of the new mix.
Maybe some items were just so bad that people kept hitting "both bad" instead of voting, pushing them back in the queue?

Yes, yes yes! Thank you, Cull the Konqueror! I've seen many new items after the cull!
A new goal for me: I list all items I've seen post-cull in a Google Drive file and tag any favorites with tier I-III if I think they have a chance of making the top 32. :) I'll keep voting until I have a total of at least 16 items in Tiers I and II.
