New player question - Tracking starting equipment?

Pathfinder Society

Hi there,

I'm totally new to PFS and am putting together my first character. This is a really dumb question, but I've been searching around (including in the beginner box and the guide to pfs organized play) and haven't found an explicit answer yet. From what I've read, all item purchases need to be recorded on an inventory tracking sheet, but what about starting equipment? Do I need to fill out an ITS for equipment my character starts off with?

Welcome! :)

You start with no equipment, but with 150gp with which to buy equipment. So your "starting equipment" is really just "whatever you buy with your first 150gp". Does that help?

I think so. So I'd start with 150 gp and a shopping list and then buy things with the GM during the first game?

More or less. :)

For convenience, I suggest going ahead and writing out your intended purchases on your ITS and putting it on your character sheet as though you've already bought it, then have your GM look it over. Doing that and then making any necessary changes/corrections will be quicker and easier than writing up your character sheet with no gear and then going through the purchase process at the game day and then adjusting your character sheet with your new gear.

But if you're new and would rather be supervised, doing it all on-site is fine too. :) Just make sure you arrive in plenty of time to get everything handled before it's go time.

Understood! Thanks a lot :)

Oh, that's excellent. Thanks for sharing! (And thanks, Carlos, for making it!)

Reading this post from Mike Brock. It might be a bad idea to use something that official looking, even though it is only as a character creation reference.

You can try this sheet since it doesn't use the same format as the PFS chronicle sheets.
