Onispawn tieflings are another choice to consider. They have decent enough scores (Str +2, Wis +2, Cha -2), and they can take a trait called "Superior Clutch", which gives you +1 to damage for using over-sized weapons. So they are well suited for this archetype.
The other advantages come in the form of things like a decent set of resistances, a lack of light sensitivity, maybe a prehensile tail and faster charges if you get the right alternate traits, etc. Plus, their spell like ability is the use of alter self once per day, which can either serve as a nice little buff (going medium gives you +2 str) or as a disguise for a short period of time.
I also remember that, due to a FAQ about spell like abilities, spell casting, and prerequisites, the SLA they get counts as having arcane spell casting. This means that they qualify for Arcane strike. This means scaling damage to all attacks at the cost of a swift action...which a barbarian would hardly miss. I am not positive on whether that has changed or not, but worth looking into at least.

Tieflings with their #16 variant ability are probably the best choice, so that by sixth lvl you can wield huge weapons with no penalty. Vital Strike and furious Finish certainly synergise with such and ability.
You can also take the enlightened warrior trait, a lvl in cleric of Gorum for the crusader's flurry ability and continue with monk, so that you can flurry with you greatsword in one-hand while using the other for utilizing crane style.
A build for such a conceot could follow like this:
Titan Mauler 2 / Crusader Cleric 1 / Monk 1 / Titan Mauler 4 / Monk x
After the titan mauler lvls you can also dip one lvl in Living monolith (with one lvl dip in unbreakable fighter for the feat prereqs) for swift action enlarge person 3/day.

Human (Bonus Feat) or Half-Elf (Ancestral Arms) with elven curve blade.
Barbarian (titan mauler) 2/ranger (two-weapon combat style) 6/fighter (two-weapon warrior) 12
Can wield two elven curve blades (Jotun Grip) at only -4 (-2 for Jotun Grip and -2 for Two-Weapon Fighting with Improved Balance). Add Power Attack, Extra Rage/Extra Rage Power, Cleave/Cleaving Finish chains, Critical Focus chain, and Improved Critical. High Str, lead blades, lots of attacks, and lots of crits. Pick up juggernaut's pauldrons and you can be enlarged at will (for 5 min at a time); also look at the righteous, unbound, or unrighteous armor abilities.
EDIT: Or Half-Orc (Toothy) with two falchions.
