I'd also like to see the brawler as a dwarf, but i'll stay away from the "all dwarves have beards, no exceptions" bit.

also, for folks who love the forge they seem to have a lot of flammable stuff on their faces.

The length of the beard is directly related to their blacksmithing skills. Because if the beard catches on fire, they're not that good at the forge anyway.

Flammable? You're thinking of HUMAN beards.

Boring answer: Canonically, Golarion Dwarven craftsmen and warriors have shorter beards (it's more pragmatic), and nobility have longer beards.

Also, while I don't know of any resource that says they can't grow beards, Golarion Dwarf women are depicted without them wherever they've been depicted so far. (Which is not very much.) Dwarves of Golarion talks extensively about beards, but generally phrases things as though women don't have them. There are several dwarven cultures, so it's not impossible that somewhere there are Dwarf women who can and do grow facial hair, but it doesn't seem to be common.

You don't have to be evil to be born and raised in Geb.

Heck, the motivation for joining the Pathfinders writes itself. "I joined so I could go ANYWHERE BUT GEB."

Geb sounds like a great place to live! Late night parties, folks who take care of all your stuff for you, a strong political leader, and a GREAT military.
Also, their recycling program is quite effective...

And the health care! Man is our health care great.

Speaking of the new Iconics any chance we will see any of them before the end of the playtest?

I believe Mr. Jacobs said they will work better as teasers to keep up excitement for the ACG after the Playtest excitement has died down.

I can't remember if he said they're likely to be released with the background story write-ups.

More to the point... we need the art for them to do anything with them, and that art is still being created, so at this point, there's nothing to show off anyway.

I really hope that the warpriest is an Ulfen Female of Gorum so I can have the image for my character I'm playing.

Well, five are likely human from what he was saying. So that leaves four. And he believed that they now had male and female versions of every core race (though he said he wasn't 100% sure they had succeeded in doing that). So female Halfling and female Dwarf should be there leaving two remaining slots. Not much left for weird stuff.

All the remaining iconics should be drow, half-drow, or humans disguised as drow. Especially the hunter and slayer. I think a panther would make a great animal companion for the hunter.

For box-filling reference, the current iconics are

Dwarf Male: Harsk
Dwarf Female: None

Elf Male: Damiel
Elf Female: Merisiel

Gnome Male: Balazar
Gnome Female: Lini

Halfling Male: Lem
Halfling Female: None

Half-Elf Male: Seltyiel
Half-Elf Female: Lirianne

Half-Orc Male: New Warpriest of Gorum
Half-Orc Female: Imrijka

Human Male: Alain, Ezren, Sajan, Nakayo, Valeros
Human Female: Alahazra, Amiri, Feiya, Kyra, Reiko, Seelah, Seoni

Animal Companions -
Cockatrice-Beast: Padrig, Balazar's Eidolon
Fox: Daji, Feiya's Familiar
Horse: Donahan, Alain's Mount (Not usually pictured)
Leopard (Cat): Droogami, Lini's Companion
Skink (Lizard): Dragon, Seoni's Familiar (Not usually pictured.)
A Stick: Ezren's Stick.

I feel like he's like Beetlejuice, say his name enough and he just appears.

And Warpriest Orc in spiked armor with a greatsword, I may have a new favorite Iconic.

My 2 pennys....

Since my Rogue (investigator) is a Tiefling, the iconic Investigator should be a tiefling.

Hey, she is Famous. She was a part of the "Annoying Investigators" during the second part of the Race for the Rune Key special. The group tallied as a 3-4 tier when still scored as a 1-2 tier. (We didn't die, but all in 3-4 tier did... wait, what?)

I find it funny that we chose the term "Annoying" when everyone at the end was "Annoyed" at the whole thing by the end.

... Anyway, is it to late to have a tiefling Investigator Iconic?

Pathfinder Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Okay based upon what we know this is the situation,

1.The Warpriest Iconic is a Half-orc.
2.Five of the Iconics will be human.
3.Of the Human Iconics already , 7 women, 4 men (not counting ninja + Samurai).
3a.to even human numbers 3 human iconics need to be men.
3b.Add one male and one female human to even numbers for a total of 8 human men and 8 human women.
4.The only non-human iconic positions missing from the core races is the Halfling and Dwarf females.
4a.There are two non-human races/genders left "wild-card"

the classes yet to be filled are...

Arcainist
Bloodrager
Brawler
Hunter
Investigator
Skald
Slayer
Swashbuckler

My estimate is that we will have a female halfling, a female dwarf, 4 human men, and a human woman(Red-head Swashbuckler for JJ), the male half-orc warpriest, and 2 non-human women. to which class they will belong we can only guess.

Jason didn't specifically state 50% human, IIRC. He may have said roughly half. Not sure. Oh, and you forgot the Shaman on that list. Sorry. :(

No. Hyenas are actually useful :3

They confirmed diving into the Ethincities, right?

Ulfen Male Bloodrager to counter Seoni and Amiri. Dragonblooded of course, assuming we don't get a Linnorn Blooded.

Shoanti Male Shaman to counter Alahazra and Feiya

Arcanist, I like the idea of an Azlanti, but not sure it'll work out... Someone from Nex I think best qualifies.

Brawler, I really like the Female Dwarf idea since so Sajni.

Hunter, should be from Nirmathas, just because I love that place.

Someone suggested a Female dressed like Sherlock for Investigator, I love that. And they should make it a halfling because she'll be close to the ground and need a smaller magnifying lens.

I think we should have a Varisian Swashbuckler, I just think Scarf when I think of a Swashbuckler for some reason.

The last couple? Not sure...

Will we be seeing a new set of ten iconics for the new ACG classes as the playtest progresses? This is a great opportunity to add variety to the established iconic crew and take the classes in less-expected directions, such as a warpriest of Zon-Kuthon or a draconic bloodrager. It could also be an opportunity to use races not as common in the current batch such as the half-elf, tiefling, oread, etc.

What do you think? What sort of iconics would you like to see?

What i'd like to see is a contest. Let us design the iconics, we give up rights to them, and get a free copy of ACG.

Perhaps the slayer should be a half-dwarf half-elf with patchy hair.

The Investigator should be from Geb or Cheliax. Theres all manner of interesting business they could get up to there.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

My (inconsequential) votes are as follows:

Arcainist- Gebbite human or dhamphir male
Bloodrager- Ulfen male or female
Brawler- Tien oread male, or Chellish human female (with Hamatulatsu)
Hunter- Ulfen gnoll male with a hyena. Oh yea
Investigator- male dwarf or gnome
Skald- Ulfen half-orc male
Slayer- Chellish half-orc female, or human female from Sunnydale
Swashbuckle- Half-orc female

90% won't happen in Golarion, but these are akin to PCs I'd make.

Also, whatever a "loligoth" is, that's about enough usage of any one word for a while, lol.

+1 to all these choices. Hamatsula! Gnoll with hyena! (or, eventually, hyaenadon!) The 'human female from Sunnydale' made me laugh.

I just love Aasimars for flavor reasons. I get to creep the other players out by talking about how my armpit sweat tastes like candy in excruciating detail.

Thats hilarious.

I despise Aasimars entirely and all of my characters hate them too. No one acting that good can be trusted.

Plus there are way too many folks playing them. They have the best animal companions/mounts and make the best Oracles and Bards. That kinda racial superiority ticks me off.

BA DUM TISH!!!

My votes: Halfling female swashbuckler (male halfling already taken), dwarf female investigator (lawful roguish type for a change), human female Arcanist (sort of like a female Ponder Stibbons from Terry Pratchett's Discworld), aasimar Bloodrager, human male Shaman (The druid, witch, oracle, cleric are all female)

Also, can one of the iconics be somewhere on the autism spectrum? I was thinking investigator or arcanist, but another class could also work. My Asperger's has acted like trapfinding on multiple occasions (noticing a soon-to-be explosive situation with gas left on and unused and a running bunsen burner elsewhere in the science classroom the Pathfinder club used to meet in, spotting corroded batteries, identifying sodium), so an autistic adventurer isn't completely inconceivable. Certainly some autistic traits would be detrimental to adventuring, such as tactile sensitivities that make armor impossible, but not all are (obsessive, gnome-like focus). As long as you don't build someone mechanically centered around Sense Motive, they could easily be written as autistic in terms of flavor.

I completely understand if this can't be the case, but I certainly would be thrilled to see an autistic iconic, especially after hearing that Lini wasn't one (at least canonically, as she is still acts like she's autistic in my opinion)

RPG Superstar 2013 Top 16

With the current iconics, all but 1 of the divine casters (Harsk) is female, while 3 out of 4 Int-based casters (and I'm including the Alchemist in that) are male. I think they should fix that gender imbalance with these classes.
