How Long Till You Delete Inactive Accounts?

Or are they sacrosanct and not to be touched?

As far as I know accounts are permanent unless banned or the customer specifically asks for the account to be removed - they are tied to purchases made so deleting inactive account would deprive the customer from access to files associated with the account.

We close accounts at a user's request and (rarely) we close an account by banning a user.

We do not generally close accounts for inactivity.

May I once again request the possibility of an alias 'retirement' system, much like active and 'previous' campaigns are utilised? I understand there are good reasons for not deleting aliases but for a lot of pbper's the sheer amount of aliases we have is becoming overwhelming

We definitely want to improve alias management but I'm not sure how quickly we'll get to it.

I love my aliases.

Me too.

But one of them is now unavailable to me, as I explain it there.

Is my forlorn alias salvageable :-) ?

All hail the PostMonster!

Related question that you might be able to answer - "Avatar" is unavailable and I'm not sure that it's an actual user who's registered it. This seems to happen on almost every site, no matter how quickly I get to trying to register it when the sites open.

I'm inclined to think most forums somehow lock it out for some reason. Even on here, it's just a completely blank profile.

Any idea what's going on? You'll save me years of wondering if you know.

There are two answers, take your pick:

1. "Avatar" is such a popular nickname (with big thanks to The Last Airbender and James Cameron's Pocahontas in Space) that chances it's going to be taken within few weeks of some forums existence are in double digits by the way of 100%.

2. There's a global conspiracy aimed at blocking you out from your desired username. Tin foil hats optional.

Dammit... Here's hoping he doesn't find out about "Profile"...

We haven't blocked out that particular name, it just means someone has registered it already. Sometimes names don't show up in our search because the user has not created a profile.
