I wanted to create a thread where people can show off their custom character portraits, be they unique illustrations, Photoshopped images, or cosplay photographs. There's only one rule here: It must be a unique image, not one simply pulled from an online art gallery or screen shot from some video game. For Photoshopped images, showing the original alongside the modified version is encouraged.

It is my hope that people will use this thread as inspiration for their own character ideas, or even make use of the portraits in their own games. (If you don't want people nabbing your picture though, I suggest stating say so in your post, protecting it with a watermark or something similar, or simply not post it here).

I'll start:

This was a ranger/assassin portrait that I decided to piece together just for fun from a variety of Pathfinder pictures. There's no character behind it yet, but there soon will be.

Ranger Assassin / Original

I was actually just checking to see if there was a thread like this before making one of my own as id love to see what other people use for their character's :-D Fantastic work on that portrait!

I do not have an artistic bone in my body but i do enjoy trying to put a picture to my concepts, Luckily the internet has heromachine for folks like me. Here is a character id really like to play if i can ever find a new group, A street thug inspired barbarian who uses a greatclub.

Crog, Half Orc Barbarian / fighter

hopefully that hyperlink works....

Very cool!

I like to draw my characters...most of my DeviantArt gallery is full of character portraits and sketches of one sort or another. Here are a few I rather like:

Shackleborn Tiefling Hellknight of Iomedae, Valeria Wintrish (PFS character):Valeria, Hellknight; Valeria, Armiger

Mea Culpa, enthusiastic but very stupid Pitborn Tiefling dragon disciple

Konrad Killmaster, half-elf blacksmith and transmutation specialist, with his faithful companion Moxie.

They have lots of character! Thank you for sharing. :D

Great thread idea! Here are a few commissions I've had done of my favorite character, Princess Alis Kirmoon.

Preparing for the Masquerade by Avionetca
Vicereine of Dafar by Ruloc
Royal Portrait by my friend Stabjack
A Brief Respite by Nate Lovett

Lastly, I photoshopped the saucy Daredevil bard from UC pg 33 to look more like the original (upon whom she was clearly based) ;P, and made an AP-style cover out of it for my campaign.
Daredevil Princess

Apologies for the bump, but i figured i would add another one and cant seem to be able to edit my original post.

Zavix Halfblood, Half-Drow longspear fighter

Not sure if the skintone would be "legal" but hey green is my favorite color and i like how it turned out!

Posted before but the original vision of Vincent Takeda the evolutionist summoner and Zhidurievdrioshka the Biped 2 claws only eidolon.

As played by Mads Mikkelson and Gemma Ward

Left - In town, a few clean cantrips and we clean up nicely
Middle - Huge evolution claw girl
Right - In the field after the fight

Photoshop of course since, at the end of the day, I have little illustrative artistic talent. The reason his last name is Takeda but he doesnt look Japanese is because his father was a samurai and mother was a Fey with scandinavian features. (Mads is Danish and I'm personally also Norwegian by way of Denmark by way of prussia)... I liked the idea that he carries a bokken and wears a hakama to fool people into thinking he's a combat class and also out of respect for his fathers traditions. Father always wanted him to be a samurai but he was more interested in his mothers fey side of the family. Zhidurievdrioshka is the result of his strong talent in magic and music and fey. Turns out his enchantment with fey was indeed following in his fathers footsteps after all and the bokken is simply 'nature's katana'. Sadly my photoshop skills are not adequate to put Mads Mikkelsen in a hakama/bokken/jingasa a-la-Kibagami Genjuro style of dress so the above will have to do. His bokken has a continual flame cast upon it but the flame is pure white. These two have never appeared to my knowledge in any movies or pictures together. A google search of either of them will turn up originals of these. His shots come from King Arthur as Tristam, and I believe A Royal Affair. Her shots are from her modeling career before she appeared as the singing mermaid from Pirates of the Caribbean and the Black Balloon. Soft image blending, sepia tone and vignetting. Like I said. An artiste I am not. This is actually the first time I've liked a character concept enough to try and create it visually. No artistic talent plus relatively lazy... I liked the results. They seem.... Classy.

Here are a few old pen and ink drawings of mine (at least the few I have scanned). I do not do as much drawing these days as I'd like.

Most are old characters I've played or characters my friends have played. I'm horrible at photoshop so I do all my stuff the traditional way and that is by hand.

BTW Raving Dork, I see you are quite the collector of character art. I too have overly sized folder of art with over 3000 character drawings. I keep telling myself I have enough... and then I download yet another awesome drawing.

I do not mind anyone using them in any capacity as long as it is for personal use.

Cool stuff! Dot!

I'll work on scanning some older art this week and posting.

What I really should do is draw more, even if just on my lunch break. Art is like a muscle. If you don't flex it often it gets flabby and weak and I've have not flexed it in years. :(

PS: It is inspiring to see so many talented artists on the Paizo forums. Please encourage them to post here.

Love the ice mage Kiteran!

I scanned this illustration last night. I'm not sure were I was going with this one as it was drawn maybe 12 years ago.

I think I was reading a lot of manga and watching a lot of anime at the time and was thinking about how minimalist the art is. So I tried emulating the confident line work and played around with prismatic markers for shading. In the end it was a great experiment and I learned a lot.

You can see I incorporated some of the techniques I learned from this experiment into my fantasy illustrations (posted above) such as the deep dwarf, Dwarven warrior, Smelly Dwarf, Watcher of the dead and others.

Battle Shameless Angel Alita rip off.

I have a few more old drawing I will post in the coming days.

It really is. I have a separate art folder just for his stuff on my home computer.

Also my hat goes off to Butterfrog. All his portraits (and he has a lot of them) are ripe with character. Just the variety alone makes my head spin.

I have spent way too many hours surfing cghub and Deviant Art...I need to stop.

Good ol' Ruloc. I still have the painting he did for me as my desktop wallpaper even a year later. :)

Nisha Starweather, protean-blooded tiefling sorcerer/rogue as illustrated by Blackmyst over on Deviantart.

Various iterations of her have popped up as NPCs in campaigns of mine including my current PF campaign where she's the guildmaster of a group known as the Wyrm-Touched in the planar city of Galisemni; another version of her popped up in the well of many worlds chapter of 'Classic Treasures Revisited', one of the sample tiefling names in the ARG, and currently as my primary PFS character. Pet character is pet character.

Imagine a 2e DiTerlizzi tiefling, add two parts scatterbrained but good-natured Xaositect, then add in a dash of protean blood. I'm quite happy with this artwork of her, though her pants might be a tiny bit less practical for a rogue than the ideal.

Here's the old oracle of bones this alias was made for but never actually got the chance to go on an adventure, because the PbP died after like 100 posts :<

Here's a dwarf titan mauler I did as a commission last summer for someone here on the 'boards.

(fyi I'm going to be opening up commissions again in about a week when I'm done with school).
