Things I wonder...

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

These aren't so much questions as musings. Just things that I think about in game that I don't think have any actual rules answers. What do you think about what I wonder? What do you wonder?

1) What happens when you eat a monster? With a lot nothing would happen but magical beasts, dragons, unicorns, and fey traditionally do something when you eat them, and considering that sorcerer bloodlines exist there are means of other creature's magics influencing humanoids.

2) Are humans diverse in Golarian because their god is dead and thus they have no true direction? He's only been dead for a few centuries but it seems like it would make sense.

3) With all these magical things happening what does a magically influenced world look like on a miniscule level? Somewhere is there a crown of vast intelligence in a rat's den causing a race of intelligent rats? In this place is there a huge rat problem because the rats have become too smart? Do these rats have little Secret of Nihm adventures and cast spells?

4) Why doesn't the feywild have it's own plane? It's alluded to but there is never an official plane described for where fey come from. Is it still on the material plane? How can we get to it?

5) what do gods want with our souls? Devils are very clear about this and some other afterlives recycle souls back into the positive energy plane which winds up back on the material plane, but what about other afterlives?

1. Probably nothing. A venomous monster might poison you if you ate the poison glands like an idiot. Worst off, some nasty gastric distress.

2. I'd just call that Evolution.

3. Eberron.

4. Why would it?

5. Consumption. Since gods are psychic energy constructs sustained by psionic emotional power directed towards them (aka 'worship'), they take the largest hunk of psychic energy (the so-called 'soul') once it's freed of containment and use it for continual sustenance.

As for number four, it exists as the "First World", a prototype for the Material Plane. As far as I know, you can't reach it without something like plane shift or something similar.

So far as I know no APs have gone over there as well, so it's a fairly mysterious place.

Here's a musing I have always had: what's the economy of a megadungeon like?

I have a homebrew megadungeon; mainly kobolds with PC/NPC levels of varying degrees but there's also several other kinds of monsters, including dragons. So...how do they eat, why do they have money, and what's their economy like?

I have a vague idea and to keep myself sane I'm compartmentalizing a lot. If anyone wants to chime in though, be my guest.

I've been planning a megadungeon that functions like a continent. What I wound up doing is replacing usual money for crystals which have several magical functions, especially for the more supernatural monsters. The dungeon has it's own system of predator and prey. The economy is inspired from Fraggle Rock so it's not that good but the players may just accept it.
